Fantastic analysis Ingeniero :)
Is there a physical copy? Didn't know about this.
I concur, you can tell the reviewer 'gets' the film and it's subtext while Cinema Sins just nitpicks inane stuff and reaches.
Ingenerio -
Oh i have not ordered the novel yet but will atch on release.
Hey, iam really enjoying your posts and vision. Also the fact that you are almost single handed carrying Alien-Covenant.com through this tough patch. Keeping things not only fresh but detailed and things we can add on to. So i always try to check an Ingenerio thread.
Thanks in advance and for allyour hard work man.
BTW I enjoy Art of P. more than Art of C. Just preference i think. My major saw point was aside from the opening pages in "Art of P." the mural / Fresco character was not in the actual book. Oh well cant have it all :(
Oh, I agree, Blackwinter-witch on the 2017 understanding of physics that refutes future claims in the Weyland Industries corporate timeline.
I could just as easily explain how they perform faster-than-light (FTL) in any atmosphere as I could explain future ballistics breakthroughs. Impossible to explain in today's physics.
In regards to technology's place in the story, I do like how Mother is always waiting and listening for instruction. Daniels does not have to move when cooking breakfast to let Tennessee in the door nor reach for anything when funneling the xenomorph down locked corridors and locking doors behind her.
Her character was free to move because of technology and in those instances it was meshed together well in the story.
I agree with Dark Nebula.

Some of the drawings seem to be projected mutation of Dr. Shaw based on David 8's studies. David 8 has mentioned "reanimation" in describing his work, so who know's what that means.
Will do sherris on the Art of Prometheus.
I just ordered a copy and will give requested analysis/opinion. Thank you for the compliment of asking for it from me. I also ordered a copy of the Art of Alien: Covenant as well.
I preordered my copy of the Alien: Covenant prequel novel that is released this month and can't wait to get it.
I don't really see how would David put Shaw together after ripping her jaw like that drawing depicts. For all, we know he used her organs for his experiments.
It could just be some illustration drawn by David for some reason that has nothing to do with actual Shaw's corpse. There was another drawing of Shaw drawn by David when Daniels was turning over those sheets of paper.

And there are other drawings depicting Shaw that we didn't actually see in the movie like these

Thank you sherris. The images are from two different sources, Phobos and the Take Me Home promotion.
I tried to answer your question regarding the record player and the view from the window here.
isnt that a deleted crew quarters scene that was in the promotional material.
Someone thought it so special that they even changed the colour of the record! Does anyone remember that. it is in one of the many trailers and snippets we got that never got used or even into a deleted scene
Is there such a thing as Shaws Notebook ?
I just bought Art of Prometheus last week and got A:C art and making this week. Prometheus seems better for me.
Anyway this note book availability pla guys ?
In the "Art of Prometheus", those 3 shots before the book starts are amazing. With the Bird Faced Creature, and also the other picture before it.
Ingenerio - i cant do photos and stuff. would you ever have time to show us those pics and your thoughts plz.
the engineer suit got me thinking about something i noticed in the hall of heads pics this afternoon.
If not i understand and thanks for your detailed masterpieces so far !! a1
It may be that David created the Xenomorph as glorious synthesis and poetic culmination of the species?
David's inheritance added to the Engineers' direction of biomechanical concerns? Is it like a divine intervention, on and above Engineers' "ultimate maturation", meaning that the Xenomorph is something the Engineers would have never succeeded to create? So David steps in to break the linear evolution and to seal the engineers' fate?
Can this be his statement that the biomechanical Xenomorph design is ready and waiting to be released?
Not sure at all about the "amusing biblical" reference. Most likely the engineers can be linked with the nephilim but is David meaning their fate? What is amusing here?
Call - I don't understand. If they've got it, why are they keeping you alive?
Hello Cerulean Blue.
The Engineer suits worn in Dr. Shaw's notes look like human clothing, most likely provided to them by humans that worshipped them on Earth.
It comes just as I'm trying to be serious.
IRaptus and daliens, your comments are both direct evidence that I have maxed out the excitement over Dr. Shaw's notes.

I know the notes came out over 5 years ago and are old news to many but I wanted to pump you up with a secondary reference tying the Engineers to the Nephilim.
Original question:

"an amusing biblical one at that." and "not quite linear"
What does that mean?, daliens
My conclusions, answer to your question (simplified):
That origin may be from the Watchers/Fallen Angels of the Bible ("an amusing biblical one at that.") and the poem Paradise Lost.
By "not quite linear", David 8 may identify with the humans (divine creation) that created him and not the rebellious angels (Watchers, different heritage) that created their own path to Earth and polluted the genome of the humans.
Does the explanation sound reasonable in regards to "not quite linear" from David 8's perspective (human history) to the Engineer's Biblical Inheritance (Nephilim history)?
Great stuff!! The Neomorph is a bad-ass!! Love the Big Chap, as well!!
@Ingeniero - Another great post!! It seems the Engineers created the suits they wore? Is that correct?
Ripley smiling "You mean by baby?"
sosse its a great gem of a film :)
each time I watch it, I notice something new, and find another reason to love it more. The second one was unnecessary and was not as good, but still enjoyable.
As for the Mayan reference of Chichen Itza, it would have been more convincing if king Pakal's tombstone from Palenque was used instead. It is well known among the ancient aliens theory fans.

Thanks, Ingeniero. Very interesting parallel to the biblical story.
However Shaw's notes on ancient Egypt are ridiculous. Even if there were some changes during Akhenaten reign and at the demise of the ancient Egypt civilization during ptolemaic kingdom there could never have existed such a representation like that giant punk dude, in an arms crossed pose. The Egyptian canon was very strict over the centuries.

That giant from Shaw's note looks more like the YMCA policeman :)

the first Descent was so good
Call than speaks what she now knows, "It's already out of you." Christ..." Now there is an urgency is Call's voice, "Is it here? Is it on board?" She's frantically looking for anything that can lead her to the stopping of the madness.
Call - There's no point, is there?
(Call- that little devil acting wasted).
(As soon as Call can't be seen by the boys, she takes a deep breathe and gets focus. All home brew stupor is shaken off in an instant, like she never had a drink.)
(Call wonders down the corridor till she comes to the restricted area door she was looking for. She pulls out some high tech glove to get past the fingerprint scanner. It takes a minute, but it works. The door opens and Call steps in...)
(She's looking for the right cell door and when she finds it, she enters. It's the one Ripley is in. She kneels down next to the sleeping Ripley and draws a blade to force it through Ripley's chest. Yet, right where the blade would go is a scar. Call hesitates, staring, realization flooding her face.)
Ripley's eyes awaken like she knew this girl was there the whole time, "Well?"
Ripley paused to allow her to answer, but instead is obligated to speak again, "You gonna kill me or what?"
Blackwinter-witch All great points. I like all the movies except Prometheus. The point is that we can find faults with just about anything if we want to. I actually enjoy seeing someone intelligently ripping on something I like. It reminds me that is just a story.

Okay, you asked for it. ALIEN 3, well too easy, really.
ALIEN, starting with the facehugger:
1; WHY would any critter NEED the ability to secrete acid to burn through something like a faceplate?
(keep in mind I am operating solely off what the movie itself provides as info).
2; Okay, we have scans that show the ovipositor tube, but NO one ever bothered to keep an eye on Kane via x-rays and such?? There's NO valid reason for them missing the implantation and presence of the immature chestburster inside Kane.
3; Special Order 937 is insane. NO way in hell is anyone going to ask/force a crew of unqualified people to acquire and then give supportive care to some extraterrestrial critter which would (in most cases) be a biological Unknown and thus require skilled, intelligent and experienced (insofar as that goes) handling to try to keep it alive.
Especially if it's Intelligent, as they thought they'd be dealing with due to an artificial signal.
You grab some Intelligent critter from a crash site, you damned well better be prepared to deal with Diplomatic Issues and a whole ream of other things. Some crashed and stranded alien being is from a Civilization, right? And if that's a First Contact situation, then Tug jockeys are NOT the right people for the job.
4; Flamethrowers...aboard a starship, a sealed environment filled with assorted flammable items and loaded with all manner of pressurized gas supply lines in walls and ceilings. Also, why the hell would you have 'The basic models' in storage aboard a ship anyways???
5; Kane not remarking on the stuff dripping off the eggs UPWARDS. I dunno about you, but I'd comment about seeing something that cool and odd.
6; Statistically, you present a person with something weird, in an unsettling environment, then include wet, pulsing organic tissues...they will back away and leave, NOT stick their face into it.
7; Jones being allowed free run aboard ship. Looking around that ship there's a LOT of ways a cat could get hurt, suffer some seriously bad falls and such. Would any of you allow your cat to roam such an environment freely? I sure wouldn't.
8; Nostromo being allowed to operate without sufficient emergency escape positions available for ALL members of the crew. Yeah, NO way that ship would have been allowed to fly until that had been addressed and corrected.
9; The disappearing and reappearing 4 'gigantic' spotlights we see at the stern-underside during landing and lift-off.
10: Nostromo's landing gear, won't fit inside the hull or engine nacelles.
Also a ship that big would need more landing feet/struts to properly distribute it's weight. Look at the ship relative to the landing gear.
Blackwinter-witch It might be a cheap shot at Alien, but I remember when Ripley went in to talk with MUTHUR, the door made an obvious noise opening and shutting- she was obviously alone. Next, Ash appeared to explain things but we did not hear the door open.
PROGRESS UPDATE: 122098 word count at present. It's coming closer and closer to being finished. It's approximately 90% complete, maybe more, but 90% at Minimum.
Then, just a quick editing pass to check for spelling errors and related other flaws, after which it'll be published. :D
EXCERPT*********
After an hour, Sin had reached the side of the cistern opposite to where he’d entered it. He’d spotted some unusual deformations on a wall section close to a doorway and had gone with his gut instinct, moving in with total caution, rifle up, finger on trigger. As he’d gotten closer, the deformations had resolved into abstract shapes, then his eyes had found order within the abstract, seeing the profile of egg-shaped pods.
Not all were fully-so, some were a disturbing tableau where it looked like one of the large ovoids was in the process of swallowing a human being, and in some cases one of the small hominid creatures. Even at a distance he could hear a low, woeful and desolate moaning through his helmet’s open-air auditory pickups.
Moving closer, he studied what he saw, but still kept watch around himself for threats. They’d all figured the nightmarish creature sheathed in obsidian-colored chitin was merely a predatory lifeform, none of them had ever given any real consideration to how it reproduced.
“Manticore, I’ve found something. Stand by.” He said into the comms and considered how to proceed. He didn’t want to try juggling his phone and rifle to snap some still pics and video. He decided to try his helmet camera system, not expecting much after the damage his suit had sustained in the grenade explosion.
There was no useful response, and after another sweeping scan around himself he took out his phone, selected the functions one-handed and began snapping still images and video, cradling his rifle’s forestock across his left elbow so he could still use it effectively while operating his phone, the rifle‘s taclight supplying enough light for good image-quality.
It was the longest five minutes of his life before he stopped recording, quickly putting the phone away, then checking around again. One of the persons trapped in one of the bizarrely-molded resinous pod-nests seemed aware of him, as he saw the head raise and could see the person looking at him. Moving closer, he could make out that it was a man, who bore a close resemblance to Meers as seen in some of Katherine’s suit-camera still-images.
The man tried to speak, his lips moved, then he coughed and weakly and vomited a small gout of green-brown mucous. His face, covered in darkly-discoloured patches that looked to be decomposing, squeezed it’s features together in evident agony, and Sin heard the moan the man gave. The lips of the egg-pod were up around the man’s neck, and Sin glanced over at the other pods that weren’t complete yet, seeing one where the the still unclosed lips left the top of a person’s head still visible.
“Sin, what’s going on?” Came Selina’s voice over his comms.
“I’ve found a nest, larger than what you and Declan found on the wildcatter. Took some pics and video for Smythe, heading out to find Katherine. I’ve had enough of this fucking horrorshow.” He replied, doing a quick check around, and freezing as his taclight revealed the substance of nightmares not six feet from him, caught in the act of reaching for him with it’s large, dual-thumbed hand.

OK Ati- out with it. Bring on everything wrong with Alien and Alien 3 if they exist. This is pretty entertaining.
NO worries!! I can also find picking-points with ALIEN also. :D
ALIENS was well-done, and it's a good movie, I will readily admit that. It had some interesting and colorful characters, which unfortunately got killed off, but there were many 'good deaths'.
Also, it put Bill Paxton on the 'Map', and he will always be missed.
JOHNNER: Bitches should not play with the boys, they will get cleaned out.
(to Christie)
Rack'em up.
BLASPHEMY! You can trash A3, AR and Prometheus to your heart's content, but not Alien and Aliens!
LOL- kidding! I think we need to be able to sit back and laugh at the ribbing of our sacred cows! Upvoted.
Call- I'm tapped. I'm sleeping. (She drunkenly tumbles out of the room).
