They know A:C was polarizing movie. They won't wait another 5 years to release a sequel. I still think that third movie will be released in 2019.
I saw it as a nice homage to Alien 3 and it was cool to see it's POV from the dome.
Rick Sanchez vs a hive of Xenomorphs.
lol I used to put my favorite artist's album on the Top 1 chart at HMV. Great work Timmy.
Guess I should do the same, and put a note on the shelf: "Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair."
Oram's death (a beautiful metaphor), Kane's (iconic), Brett's (Xeno came down like it was nobodys business), Burkes (got his comeuppance), Hudson (went out like a boss), Newt (death of hope), Dillon(FIGHTING SPIRIT), Clemens (was not expecting that), Purvis&Dr.Wren (gave him the best head), Holloway's death (honorable way to go).
Probably unrelated but I've some more clear pics of the engineers in the temple
Ancient Greek/Roman/Egyptian
Good work, Timmy! (...just don't get arrested, heh! ;) )
Dillon- went down fighting hand to hand!
Kane death definitely. It's iconic.
Actually I like every death in 1979 Alien. :p
A well-written, and quite a thoughtful, honest review. I agree with every sentence. This movie, like Prometheus, will age gracefully.
When I first saw alien, I thought that its haedcrest ws one big eye.
Sounds like Mr Ebert wasn't watching the teasers and trailers leading up to the movie's release. It is nice to have everything on one blue ray though.
Covenant felt like a natural sequel to me if only thematically. Prometheus was about finding our creators and what they thought of us while Covenant was about our own creation and the potential dangers they pose. There is a lot of subtext in this film and stuff to unravel outside the spooky house/slasher which imo was well executed and disturbing. Yeah there were some redshirts but thats in every Alien tracing all the way back to Kane and that's kinda the point. A true Lovecraft tale isn't about the humans but the monsters and the horrific things they do. Scott crafted Covenant with care imo and hopefully time will be kind to it.
I believe those are the facehugger legs pulled back in a dissection drawing to give room to show the tube going through the mouth extending past the lower jaw line into the throat Ati.

Hopefully we hear something soon and like Ati says we still have the Japanese release.
You're doing God's work Timmy :)
... And by "God's work" I mean David's >:-D
I think the movie wanted to show the runner as a straight up killer since it came from a dog or ox depending on which cut we view. As far as the cocooning- maybe they are ignoring the Director's cut.
I don't know how different species of xenos would act toward each other.
The only thing that might save the Xeno is if it were biomechanical. The Thing could only overtake biological material- the meat.
Wow I find this post fascinating regarding the 2 bones in the back.
@cerulean blue, that would be pretty cool. But according to Advent, she most likely made it out of cryo intact.
I would also like to see the prop of Shaw but cannot find it anywhere!
You do realize that on amazon.com Gotg 2 is out of stock on all formats? It is well outperforming AC. This should even more disconcerting for potential sequels. 2 out of 3 Fox Franchises flopped this year ... and in every one the main characters dies. Maybe that's not a great idea in these times?
And why in hell amazon us contains has 2 (+ reviews) score: 1 for the physical medium and 1 for the digital download. The grade for the first is 3.4 (of course people who liked the movie in the cinema will by a physical copy) and for the later is 2.6? Why don't they show the combined rating like for every other movie (which would probably be around 3.1). Hope that this is only an error on part of amazon.
'Movie fan' got there first - the shape-shifting, f**ked up mess that is The Thing (John Carpenter) - now that would be one weird, gloopy smack down! I have a feeling The Thing would win, because it can take any form it's used before, and it's not dead until every cell in its body is burned, so the Xeno would be worn down eventually, and never be able to eradicate it....
I read that it was Ridley's homage to some of the B-movie sci-fi classics of the 50s, such as It Cam From Outer Space. But it was a mistake, I agree - if we are shown any kind of 'interior', then the creature becomes less other, and less scary. It should be blank, motiveless, unknowable. And in a movie already stuffed with incident, and a final reel that's edited to the bone, and who's pacing is rushed, it's one more detail we can do without.
I am a fan of the movie, though, even though it's a bit of dog's dinner. It's still more interesting than any sci-fi movie this year....
You're a true soldier for the cause Timmy the ultramorph.
Thank you.
You're most welcome and correct in the same black goo offers different results in how much was applied and certainly the delivery mechanism drucea.

I'm sure we'll get more of that (black goo advanced applications lesson) in the prequel novel if David 8 did to those on Paradise what other Engineers have done to occupants on other worlds.

I know Ati...this is so awesome.
At this point, I buy the hard-copy of what I want! I try to limit it nowadays, because there are some DVDs from my childhood that just have no place here anymore, but I don't get rid of them for some reason! As for place of purchase, I don't have a preference between online or in-store. I f it is something like an Alien film, I will just go to a store on release day. It is a bit trivial, but I always want to watch it tha tday, so I don't risk the shipping from online stores taking too long, you know?
I do the same with CDs too (mostly. I do rip the purchased CD to have on my devices and a backup copy everytime), but I still enjoy going out and getting the hard copy of something I loved in the cinema!
For now, steaming services or cheap rental deals on Google Play or iTunes and my lmiting of what I buy hard copy keeps the collection manageable. I am sure that in the next 5-10 years I will begin just purchasing a digital copy of some movies. As the technology keeps improving and gaining steam, I will have to assimilate.
Maybe there is more AC because it was selling quicker lol
But good for you, moving some copies to a Eye-Level ;)
I agree maybe it should have been left out, i would have liked to see the other sequence added though
I think the earliest that pre-production would start would be early next year. Scott is supposed to film at least one movie before Awakening, I believe.
Great find, Ati! Definitely would have been cool to film that prologue and then release it as a short after Prometheus came out. Also, I LOVE the cover! Very cool.
Eww fast and the furious are shit, teach them to watch good movies.
Well during shooting of Alien Covenant, RS/FOX and Logan would have discussed a sequel as AC was being set up for a sequel. It would appear that FOX/RS would want to get the next installment out sooner rather than latter and i would assume they would have wanted to begin Production some time in 2017.
After Alien Covenants release at the Box Office Ridley Scott had confirmed that Logan is at that very Moment working on a sequel and they hope to start production within the year for release about 18 months.
So a sequel released sometime in 2019 looked on the cards.
Due to the disappointment with Alien Covenant, who knows what the plan is now, i think they are having to reconsider some things and you can bet at FOX HQ they will be wanting to know why Alien Covenant did not do as well as planned.
So i would think this could delay things... But i still think the sequel will go into Production within the next 8-12 Months and i will Safely Assume that the Next Movie will be released in 2019.
Has to be Ripley for me! What a way to end her arc. I mean, the effects of that shot were just AWFUL, but the emotion overrides that for sure.
Number two is Dallas' demise. One of the scarier and best crafted scenes in the franchise. Dallas was trying to protect his crew and make up for his letting the creature in earlier, but ended up meeting an unfortunate egg-morphing death!
My number three would have to be Oram's death, I think. It just, it was the first Xeno encounter in the timeline, Oram (a man of faith) birthed a metaphorical demon from the metaphorical Devil, and it was violent as HELL (it frightened me a little). I am in the minority on this, but I thought that the Baby burster was amazing! Weird as hell to see at first, but that design, the music ( I LOVE that piece of the score), and David interacting with it lovingly reminds me how much an icon the Xenomorph is. It really hits home, for me. So definitely a great death scene.
Thanks for this ATI
So the Novel follows the earlier drafts more where Weyland is not on the ship?
Nice find ati. I like the way that website organized it. I STILL WANT TO READ THE WHOLE THING MYSELF, DAMMIT! Why only Japan????
Good stuff. Nice to have gifted students in your class ! ! !
So effing hilarious. Thanks for making and/or sharing.
