Forgive but since my attendance at Titus Andronicus it has hit me like a brick what is missing from Covenant that Alien and Prometheus enjoyed, mediation from a character on a journey who had a growing sense of revelation and a desire to survive and who did until the right point when she offered sacrifice.

As the film is centred around a narrator who is a robot who is unreliable, for both reasons he cannot offer mediation and take us along indeed his behaviour pushes us away (dismantle the bastard). Ripley and Shaw offered mediation with a growing realisation of what was going on. By the time Daniels discovered who the robot was she had not discovered anything or shared it with the audience except a half truth about Elizabeth which as you know is mired in confusion. THAT is why the film for me is an entertaining ride which shares the same broad thematic elements  as Prometheus but has no ascension or build from its predecessor and it is for all the forgoing reasons I have outlined centred around the repositioning of the story and getting the creature on the screen that has lead to this.

The POV in movies is a tough thing to accomplish, for films rely on the picture itself, and for you to really have a POV there - which would include showing the way the character REALLY senses the environment... It would have already been hard if it was written, let alone filmed. Yup, I would have passed.

Couldn't you play as the xeno in one of the AVP games? I didn't play it so I don't know what the xeno vision looked like, if differnt at all.

Yep, and if I remember correctly it was normal vision. It was a while ago now when I played it.

Maybe we'll get Vickers 9 in Awakening,  sent by Weyland-Yutani to confront David. She would need some re-programming for that purpose though.

There must be some meaning to it. Maybe that's how Daniels will see things in the opening scene from Awakening.

SuperAlienAlien: Covenant ForumCould David "Swap Bodies" with Walter?

I don't believe David would share the body with Walter. He cannot afford losing control, he would rather cut his hand off.

He somehow got all the necessary info from Walter about the expedition, ship and so on.

First time when he is revealed as David is when he smiles seeing what the alien did to Lope, after the Mother got on line again and warned Daniels about the unidentified life form on the ship.

He knew about the log cabin, he was just cruel to Daniels before she got into cryosleep.

Even the scene with "Walter" stapling his cuts reminds me of the scene with David cutting his hair earlier.

At some point I was tempted myself to the body swapping theory, even I thought that Walter could have terminated David and uploaded all that David was into his system to save the data that could be later useful for the company. But if Ridley Scott said it was David in David's body we have to take it as such.

red0guy@gmail.com so it's definitely not xenomorph related.

What creatures with translucent skin can be in a Covenant sequel? I don't believe to see more neomorphs.

If that's for the Covenant sequel I get it why it's a "total reject". The creature's tail looks more appropriate for an aquatic  life style.

Daszkowski thank you for this post.

I agree with everything that was written in this review. Not only the movie deserves a second look, but also the detective work in so many posts here.

Ingeniero very interesting,  as all your posts. The mermaid's purse drawing looks very similar to the eggs.

This movie has a lot of hidden treasures, you need to dig thoroughly and keep the magnifying glass at hand. Real detective work.

Thank you again for your passionate treasure hunting, Ingeniero.

We could split the chapters up among different people. That's more appealing to me.

I love that shot TheXenoneoprotomorph because it shows how the stones fit together similar to structures found on ancient sites on Earth.

I would have much rather seen the 3rd-person view with the Xeno approaching the 'camera'. The speed and style of the Xenos' movement increases the terror. Seeing that scene presented in 1st-person was a bit of a let-down.

Yeah, I didn't have a problem with the Xeno attacking it, especially considering which specific Xeno we're talking about.

(We only have more than 100 pages to go. No rush. The competition is open to all- members, mods, staff and admin. Read the entire OP.)

As far as a winner- It can be anyone except myself. It is after all my competition. Kind of pointless.

WREN

This is good.  This is very good.

(Id be more concerned about the whole of Alien Resurrection turning into a word for word story involving Ripley taking a dump)

As a moderator I remove myself from being eligible for the prize of which I have seen, and is totally awesome.

EDIT: alright Ill stop now, and let others catch up but I need to unfinish on my favourite line from the film first.....

GEDIMAN

I'd like to run some tests: strength, coordination...  We're not
looking at a normal cloning arc.

WREN:

Approved.

I Moon GirlAlien: Covenant ForumThe Prometheus Novel from Japan

What would be really nice is if someone translated the Japanese version through the internet and e-mailed it to people who are interested in reading it.

I'd do it myself, but school is starting tomorrow, so I am not going to have time.  I pre-ordered Alien: Covenant Origins, but like I said, school is getting started tomorrow, so I am not going to have time to read it till around January. ::sad face::

My life is going on hold again for my 6th AND FINAL SEMESTER!!!! WOOHOO!  Hopefully you guys on the Alien: Covenant website won't distract me too much.  You guys do that A LOT!  I just can't keep away!  I tell myself, "No Alien: Covenant website tonight," and I end up going.

Don't worry, nothing to important gets ignored.  It's only during my free time anyways.  There's going to be a lot less of that soon though.
