Xenotaris: To say something against woke stuff is usually a comment to not add anything controversial at all. If someone has something to say then let them do it. You can choose to not watch it.
Someone says something about treating women bad some people say “that's woke stuff, you can't have that”, someone says something about environmental damage some people are “that's woke stuff, you can't say that”, and so on. In the end it becomes like you can't say anything about important issues because it hurts someone's feelings and the art becomes meaningless.
I agree with you about having it if it fits the story and not put it there in the first place and then let the story come after that. You're right that the androids shouldn't be the focus because to me it isn't interesting as much as the human story is.

Ah, I understand now, so the franchise could still exist beyond the xenomorphs. Well the Godzilla movies do have stand alones like Mothra and Rodan
HOWEVER......
I do think there is MORE to the Franchise than just Eggs, Face Huggers etc.
You have the Future of Human Space Exploration, Future Technology, A.I, Corporate Greed and Competition... you would have Rivalry and Competition for Resources in Space....... and YES you will also Eventually go and RUN into LIFE... In Context to the Weyland-Yutani Universe then the Xenomorph was SURELY NOT the Only other Life-Form in the Galaxy.
BUILDING BETTER WORLDS... was what the Company was doing more so than... GO GET US A XENOMORPH. But this was the PLOT for the Franchise (Obtain a Xenomorph). You could Expand the Franchise to Explore other STUFF, many Avenues for SCI-FI within the Universe of ALIEN... but you will have FANS who will EXPECT that anything within the Universe if ALIEN has to have XENOMORPHS and some even Ripley..
Its kind of a CURSE and CATCH 22 with the Franchise.... while you can Expand on other Stuff and have it SET in the same Universe you will by some Fans be Expected to Answer... WHERE IS THE XENOMORPH... and if you want more BRAND Recognition then having the ALIEN Prefix you would be Expected to have Xenomorphs.
While the Comics, Games and Novels have Expanded out the Franchise in Various and Alternative ways that REVOLVE around the Xenomorph. When we look at the Franchise as far as THEATRICALLY... we have.
A Distant Moon (LV-426) that has a Crashed Ship (Derelict) with a Cargo of Eggs (Xenomorph) that the Company wish to Obtain... they FAIL... and 57 Years latter they Discover Survivor Ripley, who informs them about what she Discovered... she is Informed that Humans have a Colony on LV-426 and have NEVER encountered anything like this.... the Colony are Informed and SEND out someone to Investigate and well this LEADS to the Outbreak/Fall of Hadleys Hope. This is DESTROYED at the End of ALIENS and so the 3rd Movie goes to Indicate that the ONLY source of Xenomorph is via Fury-161 with Special Attention to RIPLEY and the Queen that Gestates inside her.
After she Sacrifices herself.... its 200 Years before USM have Obtained a Specimen by Cloning Ripley... at the END of this Movie we are left to ASK... are all the Xenomorphs GONE?
This was NOT taking into Account the Prequels... and even so while it was left to ASSUME the Derelict/Eggs are GONE after ALIENS.... we cant RULE-OUT the Company has been to LV-426 prior to ALIENS..... although this would BEG the Question of WHY would you make a Colony on a World when you KNOW what is there.... but this can become a Conspiracy/Cover Up etc.
This is WHERE the Alien:Isolation Series takes us...... but we have NOT explored such in a Movie..... but again.... a Question i have ASKED a Number of Times is....... WAS THE DERELICT..... the ONLY such SHIP with that Cargo? so YES there were Avenues.... also you could have looked at the World the Xenomorph came from..... IF you are going to look at it as its OWN SPECIES.
HOWEVER....
What it was led to be was a Engineered Organism that First either came from the Engineers Experiments on LV-223 or as a Result/Evolution of their Pathogen and the Horrors it could Create.
But again as with Weyland-Yutani... the Xenomorph was ONLY a Small Part/Connection to the Engineers.... they also were more into the BUILDING BETTER WORLDS and Species....
The Engineers Plot had opened up the Franchise to a Massive Scale/Scope....would Exploring the Engineers and what other WORLDS they Build and Organisms they Create really CONSTITUTE the ALIEN: Prefix?
Prometheus had given us the Engineers Horrific Experiments, the Creation Tool/Pathogen that CAN/WAS used to Create Horrors that are Connected and Pre-Date the Xenomorph....
Does the Past Origins that Connect to the Xenomorph as in Monsters like the Deacon, Hammepedes, the Neomorphs and a WHOLE MANNER of other Horrors... would they NOT be worthy of being ALIEN?
What we END up with is the ALIEN is Actually NOT so Alien.... and WHAT is so ALIEN about it is the Pathogen that began the Process. The Tool that can be used to Hybridize Organisms... to Create a Engineered Monster...
There is PLENTY more BEYOND the Xenomorph within the Universe of ALIEN... but if you are going to USE the ALIEN Prefix then it has to be ALIEN and my Point i was making was CAN you have a ALIEN Movie/TV Series that does-not have Xenomorphs?
I think YES you can.... IF its Connected as FAR as what had BECOME the Xenomorph and so IF you Explore the Pathogens Origins, or other Horrors that it has Created, other Worlds infected by the Pathogen... were we see Monsters that are NOT the Xenomorph but you can make some Vague Connection...
For me ALIEN is Connected to the Space Jockey/Engineers..... so anything they Create that is Quite Alien Looking (None Humanoid) would Warrant being ALIEN.
But more so for me... it would be Anything that has a Genetic Origin/Link to the Xenomorph be that it PREDATES it or EVOLVES from it or Experiments on it would Warrant being a ALIEN Movie.
I think that Constitutes being ALIEN....
To me the Deacon, the Hammerpedes and Neomorph are JUST as ALIEN as the Xenomorph... but its a QUESTION of HOW MANY would only want to Explore something that has the Xenomorphs we have became USED to in the Movie Franchise....... HOW MUCH can you really go about with this?
Time will Tell with the TV Series.
And so ONCE you have shown the Xenomorph over and over and over... is there anything BEYOND the Xenomorph? I say YES... is there anything that some Fans would BE interested in.... thats the Difficult Question.
I understand this is HOW some Fans do Feel....
Its like the ALIEN in ALIEN came something that Symbolizes the Xenomorph and for MANY this is what the ALIEN was about. But i feel that also when you looked at the Space Jockey then IT too was ALIEN, and IF the Cargo was merely a Experiment, or a Engineered Weapon that was Created or a Attempt to Create by those Space Jockey, i was always Fascinated as to WHY and to LEARN more about the Space Jockey as another ALIEN LIFE FORM.
So some Fans would Consider that anything about the Space Jockey would also Encompass being ALIEN. And indeed when we look at Weyland-Yutani who are off to Build Better Worlds, and to Mine Worlds for Resources.... when you are Exploring Space you are eventually going to come Across VERY ALIEN like Worlds and Life-Forms.
But when MOST are asked about the ALIEN Movies when they THINK about ALIEN they think about Xenomorphs and Ripley. More people are Familiar in Context to the Franchise with the Queen than the Space Jockey and i think more People look at James Camerons rendition of the Xenomorph which is what the Comics mainly look at... which is that the Xenomorph Eggs are a Result of a Queen, rather than the Space Jockey Race being a Race who Engineered them... (Until Alien Covenant).
But Indeed when you think of ALIEN Franchise then the Xenomorph is Synonymous with the Franchise. You say its like a Godzilla Movie without Godzilla and to a Degree.... YES.... but you can have a Movie within the Godzilla Universe that does-not have Godzilla... but to get it Recognized you are going to have to USE the Prefix of GODZILLA so that People know its set in the same Universe but with this.... the Fans would be like.... SO WHERE IS.... Godzilla.
And the same thing applies to ALIEN... which is WHY with Prometheus it Dropped the ALIEN Prefix as it was NOT about the Xenomorph, it was in the Same Universe it would LOOSELY Connect... but it would more so Cover the Space Jockey and the Biological Experiments and Warfare they USE which the Xenomorph is Connected.
The General Public would be more Familiar with ALIEN and many would NOT even know or Recognize that Prometheus was SET in the ALIEN UNIVERSE and Canon, for it had Synthetics, Weyland Company, the Derelict/Space Jockey Ship/Pilots. But you have People who here its Connected and go to see IT and then they are like I CANT SEE HOW its Connected.... because there are NO EGGS etc.
If the Movie was Called as its Earlier Version was ALIEN:ENGINEERS... then it would be more Recognized by Brand... but then it would be Expected to have the Xenomorph (which Alien: Engineers did) my Point being that when you Explore something within a UNIVERSE.... be that Godzilla or Alien... you have that Choice of Leaving the Brand Prefix Off and then it NOT being as Recognized or Plugged... but NO SOON as you add the Prefix to say LOOK THIS IS SET IN THE SAME UNIVERSE.... then you will be Expected to have the Xenomorph/Godzilla etc.
It will be Interesting to see how PREY will do... as it does-not have the Predator Prefix but it will be a Prequel to the Franchise.... but the Posters and Trailers will LIKELY showcase the Predator so People will see a Connection.
A ALIEN Prequel could have been Called say PARASITE.... and in the Trailers you show a Face Hugger etc and Fans would recognize the Xenomorph, you would NOT have to have the Prefix ALIEN to have the Xenomorph... However when you have the ALIEN Prefix then for many it would be Expected to have the Xenomorph.
I think a Great Example is AVP.... ALIEN VS PREDATOR... as Opposed to it being Called XENOMORPH VS YAUTJA

Well I suppose it would be like having a Godzilla movie without Godzilla and being replaced with a different monster.
ALIEN started with the xenomorph and has been in everything entitled ALIEN. Replacing them in their own series with a different alien creature would be like Replacing King Kong with a giant Lemur or replacing Godzilla with a belly dragging komodo dragon-like kaiju.

I love they live too lol! Also, dark skies is a good guess. Can’t tell you much beyond the details I have already described, but I vaguely remember the humanoid leaders being dressed in some kind of silver-ish outfit. Also, it seem to be set in the present day or near future. Another detail is that I do remember the humans were being relocated at one point via open air transports, seating around a dozen people. I think they were being reassigned to different areas based on their skills, etc.

1) What Decade did the TV Show/Movie seem SET IN? 50's, 60's, 80's, 90's etc
2) What do the ALIENS look like, give a Example of something Similar you are Familiar with.

It seems that the TV Series is AIMING to NOT go and Conflict the Franchise or Prequels. And to become CANON.
I just STRUGGLE to see HOW....
I think maybe like AVP if the Action took Place on a Isolated Location/Outpost that gets NUKED and then a Massive Cover-Up then MAYBE it would NOT go and Conflict the ALIEN Franchise much.
But i FAIL to see HOW it would NOT go and Conflict the Prequels.
The Promotional Work for the TV Series shows us a Face Hugger, and a Xenomorph Embryo that has Arms/Legs and Tail (like from Alien Covenant).
what we KNOW for Sure is...
*They will introduce the Xenomorph
*It will be SET on Earth for the Majority.
*They will be Tinkering with the Xenomorph but NOT too much.
*It will Focus on Inequality in Relation to Mainly the DIVIDE between the Rich and Poor and how the Rich always USE the Poorer to their own GAINS.
*It will be SET in the Near Future which to me Sounds like UP-TO or around 50 Years from NOW, than the Distant Future of ALIEN in 100 Years from NOW.
*There seems to be some Submerged/Flooded Chamber that has the Aesthetic of Prometheus Engineers (this is likely where the Xenomorph is Encountered).
*We will see it deal with a Human Consciousness thats STUCK inside another Body (but we cant be sure WHAT this BODY will be... as far as SEX, RACE, or if its a Synthetic).
It seems the Comments about a Future Threat and Ancient Threat are about the Franchise and Prequels..... but this does-not mean we WONT be seeing A/I or Synthetics.
I am going to Assume they Discover something and then we GET the Answer that the Pathogen comes from Xenomorphs and that Eventually the Pathogen will REVERT/MUTATE/EVOLVE all Life back to a Xenomorph.
For me i think the PLOT would be a MISTAKE...

No clue. It was a pretty low budget show, from what I remember, but there did seem to be lots of extras involved. I'm almost certain it was a series, although I could be wrong. It had a similar plot/feel to Earth: Final Conflict.

As a fan of Alien Franchise and its sister the Predator franchise, I am going to write off the Alien TV series as non-canon in my eyes.
Well i have done some looking at what we know about the TV Show and it seems i have MIS-READ one of the Statements.
"They’re about humanity trapped between our primordial, parasitic past and our artificial intelligence future—and they’re both trying to kill us"
This seems to be Aimed at the Alien Franchise/Prequels.
With the Inequality i think some are Reading into this being a TV Show that will be WOKEN but it does-not seem to be that way. It will likely look at HOW even in Today and in the Future we will see a GULF between the Rich and the Poor and it seems it will TOUCH ON how the Rich will always Benefit from the Blood, Sweat and Tears of the Poor. (and i guess Common Working Class).
We know it seems there will be a Horrific Discovery that will LIKELY be the Xenomorph, that will Develop into some Heavy Action.
With Hermit being Part of the Military there will be a Military Element to the Story, with Wendy it does seem we will have a Persons Soul/Consciousness inside another Body (this could be a Female, Male or Synthetic we just cant tell yet)..
The Xenomorph they may be TRYING something a BIT Different but they WONT be Changing it too much, looking at the Images so FAR we have Traditional Face Huggers and the Gestation/Chestbuster looks more like that from ALIEN COVENANT.
It would appear the Xenomorph is Discovered on a Partially Submerged OUTPOST or SHIP. That seems to have the more Modern Prometheus Aesthetic rather than the ALIEN one.
The Areas of Concern for me are STILL that the Action takes place on EARTH and it would seem more Closer to Current Time-Line (2022) than the 2122 of ALIEN
So i would GUESS we are looking at Earth between 2047 and 2072 which would be a PROBLEM...
Unless this is a Alternative Take... a Re-Vamp, Reboot of Sorts. Which it seems like it could be to me.

Wendy could be in another Females Body just a Female who is more Muscular. We can ONLY go and Speculate at the Moment.
As i have said it seems the TV show will Tackle the Two Sides of the Coin, that is the Greedy/Rich Corporation Owners vs the Common Person and the Injustice and way that these People will be taken Advantage of.
It will SLOWLY go and Build on Characters... and DEAL with the Threat that A.I would pose....
Before we get into HORROR/DISCOVERY like in ALIEN, which then would become more ACTION HEAVY like ALIENS.
The BIGGEST Concerns for me are..
1) It will be SET ON EARTH.
2) It will be SET prior to the Prequels, and likely at least 50 Years before ALIEN maybe up to 75 Years Prior.
3) The Ancient Threat could be the Xenomorph/Engineers.
And so the Combination would SURELY make a Mockery of the Prequels... and WELL it will CONFLICT the FRANCHISE too...
IF you are going to Explore the Xenomorph again... then for me you have to... either.
a) Have it SET after 2125 and on ANOTHER WORLD.
b) Have it SET on Earth only if its after the Year 2180.

Its too Early to tell Exactly what the Focus will be, we have to ASSUME it will Eventually come down to the Xenomorph.
It does seem that A.I will PLAY a Role in the TV Series, but its Quite HOW this will be.... but it seems its seen as a THREAT..
It could be that Wendy is a MAIN Character though, but all we know is HER SOUL in in the BODY of a Solider and at this POINT we dont know if this would be a Female Solider, or a Male (seems likely).
The other Threat is from a Ancient One... and THIS is were maybe the Xenomorph comes into PLAY which will TOTALLY go and Discredit the Prequels.... but with Ridley Scott on board i think he would NOT be Interested if the TV Series was to TOTALLY RUBBISH his Prequels.
To me i am being drawn to maybe the TV Series will be a ALTERNATIVE CANON.... a Reboot if you would.

also this sounds like a repeat of Caprica. It made sense with Battlestar Galactica but not Alien since the focus of Alien is supposed to be well ALIENS and not the androids.

This kind of thing has been done before in other Movies to Various Degrees.... It depends on HOW its done within the ALIEN Franchise.... but then my Idea i had for Prometheus 2 was Very Similar in 2013.... it would DEAL with WHY we had David Created and Weylands True Agenda.... to do just this... Transfer a Human Soul to a A.I so that Weyland could become IMMORTAL.... but it had Flaws as the A.I would NOT be able to Handle the Emotions and would GO......MAD!
The END of this Plot we would see Project Rook become Activated and UPLOAD the Soul of Weyland into the Computer Systems.

Which will LIKELY be Discovered on Earth!
IF this is the PLOT... i think it could WORK if its SET like after ALIENS...... and also on another PLANET...
But on Earth and Prior to the Prequels is ASKING for Trouble/Conflict.... Especially when it could be set between 2045-2055
We are about 100 Years away from ALIEN.... the NOT TOO DISTANT to me does-not imply 50+ Years. And so i am Expecting it to be SET within 25-50 Years.... which is a Concern for me.
Can we leave identity politics out of this, I mean the alien franchise has been through enough.
I would rather focus on learning more about the Aliens and their creators and the corporation's plans on getting their hands on a xenomorph, not this "oh wouldn't this be cool if we include a transgender character to make this series more human centric"
such a wasted potential this tv series is becoming. Why not make an original IP instead? I just don't understand why can't they have an ALIEN tv series set between Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection or between Alien and Aliens
I think its too Early to Speculate much about this TV Series being WOKEN... i think there has been a Insurgence of inclusive Programing/Movies over the PAST FEW YEARS.
I dont see this being too much of a PROBLEM, provided it also Focuses on other Elements and does-not get TOO TIED down with some Political Inclusions.
There is a lot more OPENNESS regarding the LGBT Community nowadays Compared to in the 70's and 80's, and also in Regards to Gender Identification.
Hearing about Gender Identification and Particularly being GENDER FLUID is something that would seem a ALIEN Concept back 30-40+ Years ago. There is more OPENNESS towards it and more Acceptance than there was 30+ Years ago and i can ONLY go and ASSUME it would become more Normal and Accepted in 30+ Years Time.
And so IF we have Characters who are GAY or Identify as a Different Sex than they was BORN with, or those who DO-NOT IDENTIFY as any SEX, i dont think thats out of Place in the FUTURE i think it would be more Common than we have NOW, and so IF they Choose this for the TV Series then i DO-NOT see a Problem, as LONG as the Emphasis does not Distract from other PARTS of the PLOT and Characters and IF its Well Written and NOT just ADDED for the Sake of it.
Looking at Gender Identification then MAYBE this is what they are doing with the Character WENDY.... IF she is a Female Soul who is NOW in a Male Solider Body this could be a Clever Way of doing the Gender Identification, i am NOT saying this would be the CASE... and if they do such a thing then it MAYBE could UPSET those who think that this is a FORCED Attempt.. and False... instead of Dealing with the Reality that some People do Grow up and Feel Emotionally, Spiritually they are NOT in the RIGHT BODY as far as SEX.
Maybe a BETTER way to take on such a Concept would be to have a Masculine Female Character much like Vasquez from ALIENS and have this Character go and Identify as a MALE.
The Gender Fluid Subject is something that you would Expect from a Synthetic... WHY do we have to have Female/Male Synthetics instead of just GENDER NEUTRAL?
Maybe you could have a Attempt of Scientist, Transferring the Soul of a Human who Identifies as Gender Fluid into a Gender Neutral Synthetic Body? Or maybe this kind of PLOT is something thats BEST to be Explored in its OWN Sci-Fi Movie.
In Reality as Technology goes and Advances, then in 50, 100 Years those who FEEL they are Trapped in the Wrong Sex Body would likely have means to Obtain the BODY they Identify with. Should we EVER get to the Point when we can Attempt to Transcend a Human Soul into a Robot... i am sure that those who Identify as Gender Fluid or do-not Identify with the Aesthetic Sex they are Born with would be WILLING to take Part in such Experiments.
The Question is should we EXPLORE these within the ALIEN FRANCHISE?
So maybe the Wendy in the Body of a Male Solider could be a more Subtle way of doing it?

Oh I hated Battlestar Galactica especially after the first season
Transferring consciousness to synthetic bodies remembers me the Cylons from the fantastic TV show 'Battlestar Galactica'.
Transferring human consciousness to synthetic bodies contradicts hugely the old Peter Weyland's fragile existence in the movie 'Prometheus'. Why Search for eternal Youth, if you can transfer your consciousness to a synthetic body?
In the movie 'Replicas' 2017, i think the Scientist transfers his consciousness to a robot. It's a very interesting movie.
I saw a movie, 'Replicas' 2017, Starred by Keanu Reeves, where a scientist stores human consciousness in a computer and then transfers it to human clones. Amazing.

I am really not feeling this TV series, for starters setting in the near future means were getting a more or less present day setting with some future sci-fi aesthetics.
The plot is confirmed to be set on Earth, which coincides with the near future setting contrasting the distant future setting of the films.
Now this plot dealing with humans transferring bodies...why does this sound more like Star Trek instead of Alien? I mean if this was set around Alien Resurrection time period, mind transference would be a different story but not so close to the present day.

Even ignoring David and the prequels, the Alien TV Series could be the possible connection between the prequels (Prometheus, Alien Covenant) and the film Alien 1979. It's ONLY needed that The Weyland Company acknowledges the existence of the Xenomorph on the moon LV-426 and sends there the commercial spaceship Nostromo, with the purpose of its/his android Ash conducing experiments, involving the human crew and the perfect organism.
Interpreting literally the words of Ridley Scott, i think Noah Hawley is doing a kind of remake of the Alien 1979 FILM, first showing the society of the homeworld (earth) that Will lead mankind to the moon LV-426.

Alien has always had political undertones (WY anyone?) it's a bit late to complain about that now, right? One thing that I would like to add is to get the story right, then characters, then you can try to think about what the messages should be. For those that don't like it, well, you have Fox news and so on.
As far as an authentic take, well that includes political messages since they were there from day one (the monsters as a metaphor for rape, a crew being expendable, and so on). If they want to include political messages, then you don't need to watch.
