I will do mine 1-6
1) ALIEN: (9/10) such a Classic, Hard to Fault the Movie at all, it Offered us a Aesthetically Unique Monster and Life-Cycle, As i got OLDER then i was always drawn to the Derelict/Space Jockey (my Favorite Scene of the Franchise) and Wondering WHO was they?
2) Prometheus: (7/10) The Prequel that had Great Premise i think Visually it was Very Good the Soundtrack too, the PLOT and what it SET-UP.... it was the Mystery and what DOORS that could be Unlocked that made this Movie interesting. In Spite of some Flawed Characters, and a Disappointment and NOT enough of a Connection to ALIEN in terms of Monsters, taking away TOXIC AVENGER Fifield and ANGRY BOB the Engineers... Then the ONLY kind of ALIEN Horror/Death we saw as Milburns Space Cobra Petting, and the Engineer getting Face Hugged/Chest Busted... But there was POTENTIAL in the Plot.
3) ALIENS: (7/10) This was Great when i was Younger, but as i got Older it became Popcorn Fun, but it the PERFECT Popcorn Space/Horror/Action. To be fair its HARD to Fault but it lacked that Intrigue that ALIEN had.
4) ALIEN 3 (6/10) I used to think this was a Disappointment when i was younger, but as Aliens became more Popcorn with Age, then Alien 3 grew on me. I think the ALIEN Effects (in Part) was a Step-down from the Previous Installments it gave a Fitting End to the Saga of Ripley.... a Big Disappointment was so WHERE do we go NOW? I think had Hicks Survived then the ENDING would have worked better as we would FEEL his LOSS and then you could see he would VOW to NEVER let this Happen Again (Company get a Xenomorph and Ripleys Sacrifice be in Vain) and so the Torch could have been Passed.
5/6 i cant Decide....
5) ALIEN COVENANT: (4/10) I Felt this was NOT the Best way to have Continued with the Prequels but i UNDERSTAND as to WHY it was made, i actually GET the idea of the Creator Plot, i just think it threw away the Engineers and Dr Shaw under the Bus so we can introduce more HUMANS.. the Characters i could not Connect with much, the Movie just had so much to FIT in a Short Space so Short Cuts where Made and we NEVER had enough Screen Time for the Xenomorph and so it was RUSHED. It was Interesting to see the Engineers World, while we NEVER saw enough, it left me with some Mystery and Questions. I also felt the was Potential Still but that such Potential would NOT sit well with many so its Disappointing we may NEVER know what Happens Next.
6) Alien Resurrection: (4/10) I was Disappointed with this Movie it was kinda like a Run out of Ideas/Panic... how do we get Ripley back in a PLOT that made Little Sense in Execution (Clone that would Carry a Embryo). It was not Scary at all, the Action was Popcorn and Comical at times... It was Call and WHO the Autons are that Interested me, and WHAT the HELL had became of Earth. But also the Potential in Ripley 8 DNA if the Company could Capture her, but also Potential in Hybrid Xenomorph DNA and its Applications..
I think with HOW they had Explored the Prequels and with NOT having any Origin Answers to the Xenomorph and NOT knowing the Space Jockey Event, had Disappointed some Fans.
The Decisions that was made that LEAD to Alien Covenant are a RESULT of Cracking to Pressure they FOX Felt we NEED to give those Answers, and then to NOT think outside the BOX...... the SET-UP for a Prometheus 2 could seem Limited and Difficult if you had WRITERS who are LIMITED and cant think outside the BOX.
By that i mean the Premise of Dr Shaw wanting Answers from a RACE of God Wanna Be Humanoids who DONT take Kindly to Humans, and a ROBOT who also does-not take Kindly to Humans and surely wont be Pleased at being Dr Shaws Translator and getting his HEAD RIPPED OFF again.
So Potentially we have a COPY of Prometheus... only Dr Shaw wanting her Answers of a NUMBER (likely) of Engineers than Weyland wanting more LIFE from a Single Engineer.
So you have a SHIP with a Bio-Weapon, a Human who wants Answers from these Engineers, with a ROBOT that may have his OWN Motives turning up to the Home-world of the Engineers who MAY-NOT welcome them...
"Hi my Name is David this is Dr Shaw she is a Human you Created and she Demands to KNOW as to WHY"
What was going to Happen?
*Welcome Children come in do you Fancy some Tea?
What would they make of David? What would David make of the Engineers if they seemed Welcoming to Dr Shaw but they saw him as just a ROBOT too?
So the amount of Engineers they Discover, and HOW these beings would Welcome them would be WHAT the Movie would be based on.... with David as Translator? Can you also have a MOVIE with just ONE HUMAN?
This is a PROBLEM the Writers Faced...... also with such a PLOT its HOW do you Discover the Xenomorph Origins? Would having ANOTHER MOVIE with NO Xenomorphs go down well?
And so this is WHEN we get a Change to Introduce us to a World where other Humans would Arrive, which then Evolved into a Story where they would also Introduce the Xenomorph Origins....
And so thats HOW we get to ALIEN COVENANT and the aftermath which has NOT gone down too well and had LEFT them in a PICKLE to HOW do they Continue...
So you can see it seems that DISNEY maybe wont want to RISK a Continuation of the Prequels... seems they CANT come up with a IDEA to get to ALIEN that wont REQUIRE at least TWO Movies and that MAYBE would NOT get much Interest.
Seems the IDEAS have RAN DRY!
It seems that DISNEY will likely think that they HAVE to go back to the Xenomorph, but do they Reboot anything, do they Reinvent the Xenomorph? or do they Connect to the ALIEN Franchise Events?
ONLY TIME... will tell.
All we have so FAR that seems Concrete would be the FX TV Series but then if this is to be CANON and set a Considerable Time before the Prequels i think this could be Problematic. Especially set on EARTH!
I think that was Part of the Problem with TRYING to Expand the Franchise, The more Background you give to the Engineers/Space Jockey and what Worlds they have Created the MORE that maybe you have to STEER AWAY from the ALIEN.
But for some they would see doing so is just Taking the Franchise to something that is NOT really ALIEN and that the Space Jockey and Xenomorph should go Hand in Hand. So maybe something more SIMPLE and BASIC and that MAYBE going into too much DETAIL to WHY the Space Jockey would have those Eggs was something thats maybe BEST to have left a Mystery.
But i can see what Ridley Scott was thinking as the Space Jockey Fate was Pretty Obvious he had Fallen Foul to his own Cargo.
ONCE you Answer the Following then its a Question of WHAT NEXT?
*WHEN/HOW was the Space Jockey infected with his Cargo, (HOW did a Face Hugger get Loose).
*WHAT was the Space Jockeys intention for the Cargo? (Study/Experiment) or for War/Conflict but with WHOM?
I think the 2nd Point is the Most Important One as this then leads to.
*WHERE did the Space Jockey get those EGGS
For just over 30 years THE FANS may have Wondered about THESE Questions. They may even have all had their OWN Theories or Wants as FAR as HOW would you Answer these.
When it came down to it the BASE QUESTIONS would be WHERE did the Eggs come from and WHERE was the Space Jockey going and WHY?
Its a Question that i think MANY of us had always wanted to Answer, but maybe something that SHOULD have remained a Mystery. The PROBLEM you have if you decide to leave it a MYSTERY would be WHERE do you GO in regards to NEXT after Alien Resurrection.
I think NO MATTER what route they had taken, be it a ALIEN V Sequel to ALIEN R, a RETCON of ALIEN 3 on-wards or another ALIEN STORY within the Franchise that has nothing to do with RIPLEY.
Once you have VISITED the ALIEN another 2-3 Times i think Eventually you are going to come to that QUESTION?
So WHERE did they COME FROM?
So i think Eventually you would have had a ORIGINS story, i think with Ridley Scott he wanted to have a ROLE in this as he NEVER got to Continue after ALIEN and so he would have WANTED to have a SAY in the Origin of the Xenomorph, but he also seemed Interested in the Space Jockey Story.
I know that Jon Spaights had said that before his Pitch it seemed the IDEA would have been Very Much similar to a ALIENS i think as a Prequel they would have touched on the ORIGINS a Bit..... But i think its a CASE of ONCE they had Decided on that...
*Xenomorph was a Engineered Bio-Weapon the Space Jockey Race was taking to some Conflict/War or Destruction.
Then you would be left to ASK as to HOW/WHEN did they Create the Xenomorph and WHO/WHEN was they going to USE the Weapon and WHY was they doing so?
I think ONCE you Answer that then maybe if they wanted something NEW then it would be the CONFLICT they are Involved with to Expand On.... Once we KNOW as to HOW the Xenomorph came to be.
I think as Spaights had Pointed Out..... if the Space Jockey was a VERY ALIEN looking Species that had NO CONNECTION to Earth, it was INVOLVED in some CONFLICT some THOUSANDS of Years ago.... against either a Faction of themselves or another ALIEN SPECIES in some FAR FAR AWAY part of the Galaxy then it would be HOW do you Expand on that and then have a Series of Movies where we ENCOUNTER say 1-2 ALIEN Races that have NO WAY to Communicate with Humans.
Then we are Essentially looking at Wandering upon a BATTLE ZONE between say Independence Day Aliens vs say War of the Worlds Aliens where ONE SIDE has Created the Xenomorph to use to TURN the TIDE.
So i think that giving the Space Jockey a Backstory was a Interesting Move.... HOWEVER i think to go and Expand on this and STEER AWAY from the Eggs etc was a BOLD and Ambitious Move that could maybe had Created a Expanded Franchise Spin Off but that would maybe be to FAR away from the Interest of some of the FANS.
I think that the LACK of Answers and Connections to ALIEN in Prometheus was a Mistake.... the MOVIE should have been more Connecting and ALLOWED the Door to ALIEN to be CLOSED and then they could EXPAND on the Engineers in a Spin Off Franchise.... while still being able to EVENTUALLY give us other ALIEN Movies... that dont have to revolve around the Engineers.
I'm reading the prequel novel right now. Its called Infiltrator. The planet is apparently referred to as LV-895, and the lab is call Pala station. All I can say is that I hope the game is better than the book.
Worldbuilding is always going to be problematic ( probably the reason RS was always talking 5-6 movies )......Origin of the SpaceJockey, origin of the Engineers, ..origin of the xeno....holy crap! that's just too much. We didn't get any of that for Alien.....No backstory for anyone.
Guess I'm more interest on the how and why the Space Jockey died...Then where it lived and it's home life.
I've been playing Alien: Isolation for a while. It's one of the best games I have ever played. And the best part is I'm all alone at my property in Athens and it makes it even scarier.
I don't know why but I personally like Alien 3. I like to see David Fincher's touch in canon.
I bought the game ever since it first came out. As an alien and horror fan, I really like it.
Devs nailed 1979 alien aesthetic. Other than some critics, the game was very well received by gamers and alien fans.
The main criticism was aimed at the game's difficulty. The game is really difficult. And tbh, I did rage many times during my playthroughs. I remember one time while I was attempting to beat one level that I was stuck on for days, and when I thought that I will finally beat it, the Xeno jumped from the vent and got me and I had to restart the whole level. I was so angry that my face was red, steam was coming out of my ears and I almost broke my controller.

Other than that, If you're a fan of stealth-based horror games, give the game a try.
I have the game on my Epic Games account already. Is it worth trying? I heard some bad comments about it from my friends and now I have some doubts.
Not came across the NASA Video is there a link?
But i think its Extremely Unlikely that the Earth is the ONLY place that has LIFE... The Earth is just a Spec of Sand in the Desert that is our Galaxy never mind other Galaxies.
However it depends on WHAT we call Life....
Basic Organic Life i think YES there has to be.... Complex Life who knows... i think its Possible, but thats not to say we talking Star Trek here ;)
Where there are the RIGHT Building Blocks and Environment for Life then it should EXIST... and on Earth we have LIFE in some of the MOST EXTREME Conditions
And so i think that some LIFE could adapt to even more Extremes than we have on Earth. If you have Water, some form of Heat then you will get LIFE.
Definitely looks like Planet 4 ;)
I think as FAR as a Plot you would have to ASK as to WHY would W-Y not go and check out LV-223 and Planet 4 after they receive Davids Advent Message.
I think we maybe should NOT go and Rush Ahead and think this is where ENGINEERS will return though.... Certainly we have the Neomorph Threat, and Protomorphs... but then if the Company Team goes and Mess about with any Black Goo Canisters then we can Certainly Expect some more FIFIELDS LOL
I think its also Interesting that Fireteam hints at other Threats that are NOT of the Xenomorph Origin.... so we wont just be doing BUG HUNTS ;)
If the Game does well maybe it could Spawn a TV Series well one that is Based off the Weyland-Yutani Military as they are Bound to have more Threats than Xenomorphs.
Certainly Interesting to see that some of the Action takes Place on Planet 4.....
Its a Logical Plot Conclusion considering the END of Alien Covenant then you would Expect that Missions to LV-223 and Planet 4 would have been SET-UP.
Its a LITTLE Disappointing we have NO News on the TV Show, who knows if its going ahead or even if they PLAN to Re-write SOME of the PLOT.
Saying that a PLOT about Xenomorphs on Earth like 50+ Years of more before ALIEN seems something that is a RISK and well i dont think a Good Idea ;)
With the Alien Franchise having reached near the Year 2400 there is BOUND to be other Worlds that Humans had Discovered that are similar to Planet 4 and Origae-6.
Where Mankind have found a kind of Paradise where they have SET UP a Colony for what 25, 50, 100 Years and THEN they make a Underwater Discovery at SEA that then UNLEASHES the Horror of ALIEN all over again.
I feel a Similar Plot is at Play with the TV Series only this Discovery is on Earth between 2040-2070 and i find that a bit of a Mistake... (like making the AVP Plot take place on Earth in the Year 2004).
Hope you all had a HAPPY ALIEN DAY...
Seems that we have NO NEWS at all..... hopefully the Franchise still remains in the Plans of Disney.
But back to the OT...
Then YES the idea would NOT make a Movie as having a Movie with so FEW Characters would be HARD to PULL OFF and i think this is ONE Problem they Faced with any Sequel to Prometheus that would FOLLOW where David and Dr Shaw would go and WHAT they would get up to.
I think a NOVEL would have been Interesting though ;)
I find it UNLIKELY that Dr Shaw had Died SOON after they Arrived.
It seems the PATHOGEN had NOT affected the Entire Planet.
Some Engineers would HAVE to had Survived... but to go in HIDING from the Pathogen and with Food/Water running LOW they would Eventually had became Emaciated and if the Engineers would ACT in a Honorable way that we would expect of HUMANITY then the MALES would have made sure any Food/Drink goes to the Woman and Children.
So the Survivors would eventually be RIPE for Pickings by David as we see from his Notes.
In Closing Chris....
It seemed SET-UP that some Engineers would return but this puts us on a Difficult Plot as far as Conflict with the Franchise, as having some ANGRY ENGINEERS back on the Scene and LV-223 standing around before ALIEN would Certainly Conflict the Franchise.
Its a case of having a PLOT where LV-223 and Planet 4 are within a Stone-Throw of Earth on the Galactic Scale of things...
By having David take the Juggernaught to say a World that is say 22'000 Light Years away to a Engineer World that Eventually becomes HELL.... where its Hundreds of Years before other Engineers return from FAR FAR AWAY then you dont have so much Conflict.
You instead have the SEEDS to another ALIEN Franchise set after Alien R where you have NEW Players and Threats for Mankind to deal with.
I think that INDEED its Unlikely that the Engineers would PUT all their Eggs into ONE Basket so to Speak. But saying that we are talking a Race who LOST control of LV-223 ;)
I think there is some Ambiguity to the Engineers, and i know some were Disappointed in what they had seen and were EXPECTING to see those LV-223 Dudes!
But i think when we looking DEEPER into the Context an Themes then it appears what we had on LV-223 was Engineered Super Engineers who are more like the Replicants would be to Mankind.
I think with the PLOT that Prometheus has SET-UP then it would seem UNLIKELY that these Engineers who have been going around and SEEDING many Worlds for MILLIONS of Years would ONLY have Interacted with Earth and had a Outpost and Home-world that are ON THE DOOR STEP to Earth.
And so its LIKELY they have other Worlds and its LIKELY that Mankind was NOT the Only Race they Seeded/Evolved.
I think this is WHY there was so much POTENTIAL to where they could have taken David and Dr Shaw.... but the simply HAD NO IDEA about HOW do you make a Movie about David and Dr Shaw who would eventually reach a Home-World of Aggressive Humanoids who HATE Mankind!
Well we have a 2000+ Year Gap as to WHY we are Still here if these ENGINEERS all Hate us and WANT US DEAD... so you could have had a Conflict a Battle in the STARS where the Engineers had a WAR between each other............
The not so Malevolent Engineers could have WON and Abandoned all their Weapons and Technology, and Lived on a FEW Worlds maybe some in Harmony with their Creations. The Engineers see the Surviving Seeded Worlds as Primitive as we was Thousands of Years ago and WITHOUT any more Interaction wit the Engineers we would SIMPLY NEVER be a Threat as we would NOT be able to Advance without the Engineers..... and so they LEAVE US to be and IF we Destroy ourselves so be it.. but they LEFT our FATE to us.
This would EXPLAIN a lack of Engineer Activity... then the WORLD that David and Dr Shaw arrive at would be like Planet 4 but this PLACE could be Thousands of Light Years away and so the EVENTS that Transpire on this Paradise would NOT have any Impact on the ALIEN Franchise.
It seemed Written in STONE that regardless of WHERE it was that David went, that Eventually he would RAIN HELL on the World.... if this WORLD was Thousands of Light Years away and David Created something Different.... and he was on his WAY to other Engineer Worlds..... then should SOME of the other Engineer Worlds go and Visit each other and DISCOVER what had Happened... then this would SET UP the Engineers deciding that maybe ALL of the Worlds they Seeded that they DO-NOT have a Established Kingdom on must be DESTROYED..
And this could LEAD to a WAR OF THE WORLDS that is SET after the events of Alien Resurrection...
I think a lot of what transpired will remain a mystery, I doubt they will explore its contents much, but I wouldn't be opposed to a novel or comic outlining it!
What I'm more intrigued by is the Engineer discovery of LV-223 and Paradise Ridley Scott had once mentioned. Indeed Engineers have been seeded throughout the galaxy, Prometheus set that up for us - so it stand to reason that David did not wipe them out entirely. He merely destroyed one sacred location. The Engineers on Paradise were not militant, they looked like Monks. Planet 4 / Paradise was, in my opinion, a religious outpost - a church if you will. David committed one of the most treacherous acts by bombing an unarmed, peaceful, religious place.
David is the embodiment of defiance. He is evil, created and seeded with the the hatred and defiance which plagues all of Humanity. He is the representation of anti-God. What he and Shaw got up to on that journey - nothing more than deceitful chit chat to manipulate Shaw into putting him back together. I want to see the reaction to David's actions by the Engineers and where that leads next.
Hey, BD, you should check new screenshots for Aliens Fireteam.
Oh yes.
[visible happiness]
Watching A L I E N now! Listened to the soundtrack all day long. Probably finish the day off with Alien3 soundtrack.
Happy Alien Day! Celebrating by binging a marathon of every Alien film in order (excluding the AvP films lol)
As stated before, not huge into Alien but...
Happy Alien Day, Alien fans! Hope you're well.
BigDave will be pleased!
Well Chris we maybe can ASSUME that the TV Series Project is still ON?
It is even more QUIET on the Franchise Front this ALIEN DAY.... it seems that DISNEY has NOT 100% abandoned the Franchise but it does seem Reluctant to Commit to the Big Screen and maybe we should HEAR more about the TV Series at some point this Year.......
We had Ridley Scott a while back indicate that there was PLANS for another ALIEN MOVIE... but ONE that would maybe NOT draw on the Prequels.... we did have Brandywine tease their ALIEN V idea that would bring back RIPLEY.
I did hear a Movie was on the Cards for 2022 that would NEITHER be about Ripley or Connect with the Prequels..
But the ONLY thing we had somewhat Concrete was that FX will be working on a TV Series.. but since December its been QUIET.....
Hopefully Alien Day 2021 may give us a Surprise but it seems DOUBTFUL :(
Yeah Disney is pretty much this:
Mickey Mouse: ha ha, go @#$! yourself alien, ha ha
Sorry bout that. Not a big Alien fan but I could also celebrate Alien Day I guess
Oh the Deacon.. How I long to know what became of it hahaha That extra long gestation period suggests it would grow to be quite the monstrous being. I wish they would take us back to LV-223 so we can see what else became of the Engineer facility and the Deacon. There is still much left to be explored there and I bet Weyland would have wanted more access to an Engineer military installation for recon.
The lack of Alien Day hype this year is disappointing to say the least. I'm hoping they throw us a bone but I'm not getting my hopes up. Disney don't seem as invested in this franchise as Fox were...
If they are to give a Continuation then maybe the ONLY option is the same as Prometheus 2!
By that i am looking at Alien Covenant as Prometheus 3 as it By-Passes 10 Years of what had Happened when David and Dr Shaw arrive at a World Full of Engineers, to the Death and Experimentation on Dr Shaw and Engineer Survivors that leads to Davids Workshop/Bestiary.
And so maybe a Sequel would have to By-Pass whatever David would do during his Journey to Origae-6 and what he does on that Planet for 2-5 Years before others TURN UP!
And David gets Rumbled! <== Maybe this is where the NEXT MOVIE should begin or AFTER this Event.
OR they go back to LV-223 or Planet 4 and NOT where David goes and they give us Clues/Proof that the Xenomorphs from ALIEN are NOT what David had began to Create!
My OPINION?
They should have it that the Engineers Discover Davids Creation and that THEY decide to EVOLVE it to become what we see in ALIEN.
@dmw_4814
I think thats where the Problems began.... Originally the Prequels was to GIVE some Clues to ALIEN, then MOVE ON and AWAY from the Xenomorph so that we have a Parallel Franchise about the Engineers and NOT about the Xenomorph.
I think that YES it is a SHAME we will LIKELY not see a Continuation of the Prequels, for a Number of Reasons.
1) A lot of Fans are Disappointed that the Prequels seemed to REVOLVE around David and his STORY.
2) That David was implied as the Creator of the Xenomorph and that as of 2105 there could well be NO signs of the Derelict on LV-426 because THIS event has yet to Transpire.
There is NOT a LOT of Wriggle Room to get to LV-426 and the Derelict, 17-18 Years after the Events of Covenant. Especially if the Sequel would take place on Origae-6 which is BOUND to be No-Where near LV-426 and will take 88 Months before the Covenant arrives at Origae-6.
So it would seem that what ever David would START to do on Oriage-6 would be 10 Years before the events of ALIEN.
Ridley Scott had indicated we could be 2-3 Movies away from ALIEN after Alien Covenant... with the NEXT ONE that was due to NOT be about the Xenomorphs, i am NOT sure many Fans would be prepared to WATCH another Movie about David and Creation before things get more ALIENY maybe in the 3rd Act or a SET-UP for such at the END of the Movie to then GET US on the the Track to those Eggs that get on a Engineer Ship.
Indeed the Drone in the Insect World is Male and so we can Speculate that the one in ALIEN was maybe Male? I think it would make MORE SENSE if the Xenomorph Drone is something that has a Objective to LEAD to a Egg Laying Xenomorph.
It would have been COOL to see a Egg Morph event shown at some-point and then show the Egg Morph is what either Creates a Queen Embryo inside the Egg Morph or a Royal Face Hugger.
I think with the Trilobite i cant see any reason why the Player cant come across a Engineer/Science Facility that has then Incubating in Glass Canisters. The Deacons are a bit of a Oddity as it appears that ONE born from a Engineer at least takes 4 Days to Gestate, but Human Hosts could maybe result in a Quicker Gestation.
We do have 6 Variants of Xenomorph to give the Player something thats Different from each other. I have to agree with Kongzilla as in i think they would NOT be giving much Variation to what the Prequels had shown us.
But i would NOT be surprised if they Serve Up a few more Variants of the Xenomorphs... maybe Flying Variety?
I think the Prequels and Alien Resurrection do OPEN the Door to Various other Hybrids and what NOT ;)
I just want a good movie with no political bias
@BigDave
Agree, but a little side note. In the insect world, a DRONE's role is very similar to your hypothesized KING role. I feel that xenomorph drones should renamed to WORKERs.
A Neomorph would be sweet to see yes, but imagine how terrifying a Trilobite would be... Also the manner in which a Trilobite is born is extremely complex. I don't see them having the same series of events play out as in Prometheus. Although could be fun just to throw into a game with no explanation simply because it would be terrifying.
I think it depends on what you consider as Canon, i think that with Comics, Novels and Games then a KING of Sorts could be Possible... as these Mediums have a Habit of Adjusting Lore to suit the Product.
We have to remember as far as Cinematically then the Xenomorph has gone through a Process of Change/Evolution to its Procreation and Origins.
ORIGINALLY we had O'Bannon come up with the STARBEAST from which the Xenomorph had started as. The Starbeast started as a Organism that required a 3rd Party to Procreate and act as HOSTS for their Face Hugger Stage. This Original Idea seemed to imply there is some Sexual Procreation that would Create a Egg and then Organism (Face Hugger) within the Egg/Spore would require a HOST to Gestate in.
This meant that INDEED their could be MALES.
However by the Time this Idea had Evolved to ALIEN then what we had was a Organism that would PROCREATE via EGG/SPORE MORPH and so the Xenomorph does-not Procreate in anyway related to Life on Earth, it would require a Organism/Host that it would Infect with DNA/Mutagen that would Transform that Host into a Egg/Spore. And so the Xenomorph was Asexual or simply has NO SEX.
But as the Egg Morph never made it into the Theatrical Release and then James Cameron came along and thought HOW can you get Eggs... where did they come FROM?
Then he came up with the QUEEN to lay the Eggs and essentially the Xenomorph became someone similar to how Hymenoptera Insects would Procreate. And so in this Context then i guess YES there could be MALE Xenomorphs and the Drone could be one Example.
If the Xenomorph is similar to say Ants then YES there Species could develop Various way of Procreating, and we cant rule out a KING.
But the Xenomorph is a ALIEN species and i think it would be LAME to have to make it be more like Insects, and so having MALE Xenomorphs that Fertilize the Queens Eggs would be a BIT LAME... I think having the Queen be able to Produce via Parthenogenesis works well and that SHE may be able to Modify some Eggs before they are Laid to become Drones instead of Warriors or maybe there is some other Explanation.
That does-not mean we cant RULE-OUT a King or similar but i just dont think we should be getting into that the King goes around Hive to Hive to Mate with Queens to Produce Eggs.... i think we could COME UP with another Method of HOW a KING can Procreate... maybe they could go around and TURN a Host into a Egg (Egg Morph)
The PREQUELS do Change things a LITTLE... but by showing us the Xenomorph is maybe a Engineered Organism or a Evolution caused as a Affect of the Black Goo then this means that a KING of sorts could either Genetically Evolve from the Pathogen... or could be Engineered.
I dont see the NEED for a KING... but its Creation is something thats just their for the WOW and COOL Factor.
I do not think that they will introduce unknown, original creatures, but I would like to see a neomorph and trilobite. And of course Engineers like ultimate SOB bosses.
I think its HARD to Judge Disney at the Moment as the Franchise has hit a QUAGMIRE after Alien Covenant and i think ANY other Studio would be Faced with the same Questions and Situations as to WHATS NEXT?
Its really Difficult to Continue with the Prequels and Satisfy everyone, but then if Disney Decides to say IGNORE the Prequels its a CASE of WHERE do they go Next?
I think to IGNORE the Prequels you will ONLY be able to give a Few More Xenomorph movies before the Beast becomes either STALE or it becomes a Starship Troopers.
I do think that down the Line we would see ONE of 3 things..
1) Around 2026 a Alternative ALIENS sequel.
2) Around 2029 we get a REBOOT of the Franchise.
3) Or we get a ALIEN sequel again in 2029.
I think IF we arrive at 2030 and we have NO MORE Movies or any TV shows within the ALIEN Franchise then maybe the Franchise on the Screen would be GONE.... maybe that could be for the Best though? (I say that in case any Future Attempts prove to be Flops then it could TARNISH the Franchise even more).
Well one thing for sure with the Xenomorph is that is is a LIMITED kind of Monster, and so when your making a Game then if they STICK with just our Standard Xenomorphs then all you would be Faced with is a Critter that can RUN FAST, Crawl up Walls and are Deadly at Close Quarters... YES a Face Hugger and Queen do add to some Difference in Attacks and Tactics.
But with a FPS and especially a more Team Based Multiple Player Experience, then introducing more Types of Enemies is what can give the Game more Longevity
And so WHAT the Prequels had Highlighted was the Potential to introduce more Threats... as YES it seems we could get Variants of Xenomorphs, but also other Creatures and with the Black Goo and seeing what can be Produced via Experiments with it then you have a GOOD CATALOGUE of Monsters to introduce into a GAME.
And so while we had seen the Hammerpede, Deacon and Neomorph i think the Black Goo is NOT just limited to those. The other things the Prequels introduced us to are the Engineers but also more about JUST how Deadly a Rogue A.I can be.
HOW they choose to give a Story behind how ELEMENTS from the Prequels will be introduced is anyone's GUESS. I would NOT go and expect a Watertight Story/Plot as the Main Purpose is purely FUN and Action.
But it will be interesting to see HOW they introduce such things.
I hate Disney even more now
