"It could have been a transformed David, or a true life form that is either: "fossilized" OR... OR "petrified" in it's place."
That would actually be pretty cool HYPERNOVA and it would certainly make the "what the hell?" list.
Lost in Space is a great example of time travel as an unintended consequence of interstellar space travel.
"They find the Earth with primitive humans and David finally knew about time travel. He decides to destroy humans at the Dawn of their civilization.
David very proud his latest achievement - the restored Engineers ship. Bio-Juggernaut. David himself has many biomods and become a biomechanical life form - inspired by the last Engineer from LV-223."
That sounds great to me Leto and I'm not against the time-travel in the Alien universe...it's certainly in the comics, below.

Space Jockey
The below video incorporates "far-out" items from the comics, film, promotion including time travel in an attempt to tease out who the Space Jockey could be.

The above room, to me, is a fascinating part of the story because we have no idea how old, how large, it seems to be underground and it is in the novel, etc....all of which could have been build in the past by current characters and events with time travel added.
JPL mentioned it too here and cited the neutrino burst as a potential consequence of time travel.
I'm with BigDave on this being an infrequent, or "one-off" event though because it may not mesh well if it is a frequent occurrence and a main part of the story (such as Terminator) while all the other Alien films have no reference to it.
If the Engineer tech can fold space then it's not too much of a stretch that they could fold time as well.
My issue with this is:
Why sleep such long periods of time if you can just time travel and not use the resources to maintain engineers thousands of years?
To reconcile this...the energy used to fold time and space may just be too large and the Engineers may save resources by sleeping.
"I stick with RS that David created them from scratch as it fits thematically better within the whole context."
The eggs are cited in the previous works of the Engineers in the Art of Prometheus/Prometheus mural, each below ignorantGuy.

When I listen to the Advent message, it alludes to the Engineers using the black goo pathogen technology historically but setting it aside for timidity.
The Point being that the secrets behind the pathogen usage, creation of specialty organisms such as the Ovomorph and Facehugger, and a factory that produces them both (the QUEEN) are all old news to the Engineers. They set that stuff aside and became cosmopolitan.
So, in my opinion, the artwork seen in the art of the film and the mural fit with an older custom used by the Engineers.
"So, to me, the black goo pathogen is where fragmented technology evolved into synthesized single product."
The above statement is from a play on the language used in David's notes, below..."glorious synthesis", right-side paragraph ignorantGuy.

"How does this even make sense? They stopped using the black goop for at least 2000 years but they seem to be able to do space travel without."
David's notes written in the King's English were a major contributor to this part of the story making sense to me ignorantGuy.
"No. Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett. And more - Alien it's a project of many people: Giger, Ridley, Hill, Giler and more.
"When you speak: Ridley; you annul other people. Scott is not a master of this universe - Alien is not his idea. He is just a director. Director is just a one role from the set."
I am ashamed of myself Leto because you are right but we both left out the Gaffer.
First, compliments on the colon/semicolon bookends on Ridley. I'm sure this signifies a drive-home point but I don't get it.
"It seems to me that you take this from the prequel novel"
Not so much ignorantGuy. The 2073 buying spree was documented on the weylandindustries.com viral site for the Prometheus' backstory.
Prometheus is a Ridley Scott thing.
The video below was built with source material from Prometheus viral site that is no longer live.
@Inginiero "So, to me, the black goo pathogen is where fragmented technology evolved into synthesized single product." How does this even make sense? They stopped using the black goop for at least 2000 years but they seem to be able to do space travel without.
"For example, Weyland Industries bought up most of Earth's technology before 2073. Military companies, biotech, nanotech, Perrier Water, and any other conceivable valuable technology was acquired and absorbed into corporate." It seems to me that you take this from the prequel novel (Which is not even a RS thing), but if they are such a big player why is there a need to merge with Yutani? And even more interestingly who can be there another big player in robotics such as Hyperdyne Systems (Ash was an 120-A/2 model according to Aliens).
"David appears to resurrect the Ovomorph in Alien: Covenant and this is detailed in his notes, below." The notes can be explained as random results of David's experiments and to me they don't imply that there was any intent of redoing something already existing. I stick with RS that David created them from scratch as it fits thematically better within the whole context.
@ Leto why do you try to convince hardcore David fans that the direction RS is taking is not that appealing to you? I can assure you can't win. I am someone who pretty much likes only Alien 4 and Prometheus the most of the franchise because they stray away the most from the formula. AC is bad because they reverted to the formula but at the same time making the monster a pet to a genocidal android...
Man, you are doing a great and good job. Really perfect content.
Some people may be toxic with "Xenomorphs, Queens and Ripley", but how about "Weyland-Yutani, Androids and AI"? Do you really think that this more interesting than xenomorhps?
Ridley Scott's Alien is where the story originated.
No. Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett. And more - Alien it's a project of many people: Giger, Ridley, Hill, Giler and more.
When you speak: Ridley; you annul other people. Scott is not a master of this universe - Alien is not his idea. He is just a director. Director is just a one role from the set.

Great framing BigDave.
Overall, the topic tees up a great discussion of Engineer technology, specifically the black goo pathogen (genetic/nanotech engineering) if you wish to isolate a common denominator for the Engineer technology.

This common denominator, the pathogen, is a refined cross-section of the Engineer culture according to David's notes. So, to me, the black goo pathogen is where fragmented technology evolved into synthesized single product.
For example, Weyland Industries bought up most of Earth's technology before 2073. Military companies, biotech, nanotech, Perrier Water, and any other conceivable valuable technology was acquired and absorbed into corporate.
This corporate Darwinism may match a similar path taken by the Engineers toward development of the black goo pathogen or those that the Engineers acquired it from.
"But none the less, when Genetic Engineering Evolves to the point of being able to Enhance our Genomes, you have to wonder IF some Governments/Factions would be tempted or even consider the Benefits of doing such a thing... Especially for Military Purposes, because Creating the Perfect Super Solider would hold some Great Benefits."
I have a very low confidence that morality will provide a boundary for Genetic Engineering and the fact that humans have nearly weaponized every technology ever invented reinforces this.
Leto, Ridley Scott's Alien is where the story originated.
I get it, he can piss you off with curveballs coming out of a dark room after decades of Cameron, Queens, Blomkamp's Dozen-Page Powerpoint, etc...but I believe he was needed to apply the wheels back to the bottom corners of the wagon.
"David can create anything life forms (how - main question, we still have no answer - how he create the eggs, maybe he don't)"
David appears to resurrect the Ovomorph in Alien: Covenant and this is detailed in his notes, below.

"Is Ridley Scott working on something we will find out on Alien Day?"
Please someone scream "yes".
The releases before the big day daliens sure seem to point toward that. Great news! Thank you.
"Because i feel if Disney will pursue another Movie or TV Showwithin the ALIEN Universe i am sure we should have information/confirmation within the next 12-13 Months, if they indeed have such plans."
I'll settle for another unclear statement about an Alien: Covenant sequel from Ridley Scott even if he yells it next to "get the hell out of here" from behind his garden wall BigDave.
If we have to wait any longer for an update on an Alien: Covenant sequel then society may just fall apart. It's that simple.
Is it possible that Ridley Scott is working on a new Alien installment in secret?
He will not start shooting for Merlin before this fall.
Since he finished All the money in the world, Ridley Scott only shot 2 ads, for Turkish Airlines and Hennessy. He was still involved in various other projects as a producer, but did he give the impression that he might be engaged in a new Alien film?
Would Fox greenlight another sequel before the Disney deal was complete?
Did Ridley Scott agree with Disney for the Covenant sequel already and then he'd carry on with Merlin?
We get news of an abundance of Alien staff this year, like a new game, digital miniseries, the Tongal/Fox shorts, comics, all before the Alien Day. Why? Why not keep something for the big day?
If this goes viral, Disney cannot ignore it.
I still hope Fox saved some good news for Alien Day this year and plans for more in the future.
Those kids would be happy as well.
That intro looks really good!
Hopefully they can put it on YouTube and monetize it! I would like to see this.
Thanks for the share!
THAT'S IT!! The Mala'Kak! GREAT! Thanks Bro!
If You are a Bro!
I'll correct my spelling above. I added more text to it now too Man!
They called Mala'kak. Yeah, really good race.
When I saw the Space Jockey in Alien it was an enigma to Me for a long time. Then, the Aliens vs Predators comics came out in the 90's & they showed the Derilict alien race: the Mala'Kak & they then came across to Me like a sacred race almost like benevolent sentient giant cow's of the Galaxy.
So for a time they seemed to have this galactic wise old elephant presence about them, not just because of the trunk, but that in part factored into it but a race that seemed gentle, pure & genuine.
But then it feels as though it was being decieved & cheated, its intelligence being insulted so it lashed out & crushed the jumped-up petulant little Human usurpers. Smashing up all in "His" path because it did come across to Me as an amophic Male rather-than-female.
I always looked at them as ancient benefactors whom have long bouts of bear-like hibernation which is why they possibly live for so long. That, to Me, served as the insperation for the Engineer actions in Prometheus to grab hold of David & rip His head from his torso.
But what really strikes-home to Me now in hindsight when Ripley says the line about the message: "It looks like a warning", I now see that whole scene regarding the Space Jockey just that, a warning for any species recieving the broadcast because now, I view "Him" sitting "embossed" within that chair as THE LAST of His entire SPEICIES! His ENTIRE RACE! His ENTIRE CIVILIZATION!! The last of His ENTIRE KIND!!
That's how I view Him now & that could be a possible window into His thinking as to why He ended-up "marooned" upon LV-426, what must have gone through His mind knowing that He could possibly be last of His civilizations ENTIRE EXISTANCE!! That His mere prescence there marooned upon this crappy inhospitable world & his actions that lead Him to be there in that condition is the SUM TOTAL now of His entire race having EVER existed at all!! THIS state He now found Himself in was ALL He had to show for the sum total of His life choices & actions!
& to now know that at the point of death perhaps a flash of His corpse's destiny came to Him briefly & He some how possibly knew & was certain in the knowledge that His expended, used-up husk-of-a-body was going to languish here, in this blighted HELL of His own making for centuries... Tens-of-THOUSANDS of years even... THOUSANDS!! Like Ripley emphasises.
It makes Me think that in that moment He was overcome with an incomprehensible sense of sadness & loss for His civilization having ever been remembered for even existing at all!!
What could be ultimately sad was that perhaps He was the last custodian of his entire races archives, & history &, now that entire length/breadth of cultral history is lost for eternity. The galaxy/universe would not even know or quickly forget that He & His race ever existed at-all!! The last of His SPECIES!!
He was probably like the self-sacraficing Ripley of His own kind, doing some last-ditch noble act as She did at the end of Her life's journey at the time during the end of Alien 3.
Maybe in that moment of Hubris "He" (maybe "She", We don't fully know as yet but I'm going with a He) found some selmence of inward nobility in His sacraficing of Himself for the betterment of all civilization kind scattered across the Galaxy. Or He was a noble kind & did a dutiful act of custodianship to the Galaxy as one of its noble Sheperds & duty-bound as a galactic Steward. He could have been truely noble in His actions.
So bringing the topic round full-circle His (i'm going to call it!) "fossilized/petrified" remains serves as a haunting epitaph to His cultures entire existence or quite possibly having ever existed at all!
He now serves as a time capsule of sorts being one quite possibly of His entire own making.
A living-Dead reminder to Human-kind & Ripley got it when She said: "a warning" because He serves as a warning to any civilization dabbling in things You're not prepared to reap the consequences of much like Dr. Frankenstein as You could soon find Yourself the ABSOLUTE LAST of Your kind looking back & wondering how the Hell did I & the rest of My kind get here!!
I'd love it if the brains belonged to Giger's Ganesha Space Jockeys!
In the past we've discussed the prospect of the LV-223 Engineers/Clones/Hybrids using stolen technology.
Stolen from the Ganesha truckers or adapted from that tech?
It's a great way to include the original Jockeys, even if they've been wiped out & the good old Derelict Pilot could remain sacred.
He was on a mission to wipe out those Engineers, or as I have always felt, he either sacrificed himself or became infected when an attempt to quarantine the cargo went wrong & he had to land or scuttle the ship.
Or....the Engineers used the Jockeys, who were actually melded to their ships, to move unstable cargo?
That's a great idea!
@HYPERNOVA
As discussed on your Topic i do think a TV Series about other aspects of the Franchise would be ideal, be it WEYLAND or be it COLONIAL MARINES... The Problem is how many would be interested in a Weyland TV Series, and some would expect a ALIEN connection... and any Colonial Marines TV Series they would expect it to also be connected to Bug Hunting Xenomorphs!
Your Alien-Verse movie post above, again i think it would be interesting to mix elements, but anything that connects the ALIEN Prefix would be expected to be about Xenomorphs.. The Prequels leave many Loose-Ends... that could be explored in a more ALIENY movie that would NOT have to be about Traditional Xenomorphs.. Sadly it comes down to What do you Call it and gain interest so people would know what its about, because if you do this by adding a ALIEN Prefix... so say Alien: Leviticus were another Mission goes to LV-223 and they Discover more about the Sacrificial Rituals of the Engineers and maybe Mankinds Role in them too... But then some Fans would expect to see and want to see more Traditional Xenomorphs than something NEW.
Alien: Leviticus was a working Title to one of my Prometheus Sequels i had in mind.
I think it would be interesting to see how Raised by Wolves does... then it would be interesting to see if Ridley Scott via Disney could indeed cover another SCI-FI TV Series be it NOT connected to ALIEN.. or a Weyland TV Series or BladeRunner one..
Back to the OT!
"Ridley Scott’s Scott Free seems also a good bet to stay: beyond the next Aliens installment that he’s working on"
Who knows what this means.. i guess we would know by Alien Day this year... or in Interviews after Raised by Wolves or Merlin Projects... if there was another ALIEN Project that Ridley Scott was working on, i would expect information on it at some point this year, even if its to say "YES there was a Project but it was canceled in XXXXX Date" if we get to Alien Day 2020 and we still have NO News on any ALIEN Projects be it TV/Streaming or Movie and be it Ridley Scott or Blomkamp or Cameron... then if we have NO news by Alien Day 2020 then i think we would have a good idea of Disneys plans for the Franchise.. which may just END-UP being Comics, Novels, Games and Merchandise.
Because i feel if Disney will pursue another Movie or TV Show within the ALIEN Universe i am sure we should have information/confirmation within the next 12-13 Months, if they indeed have such plans.
As for David, I always thought it would be great to have Him exploring His "quest" to be more Human than Human (borrowed irony from Blade Runner intended) like data in Star Trek: The Next Generation but then when He finally understands what it is like to be a Human being & is perhaps gone through changes biologically somehow so He is a sort of "new" life form on the scene that truely thinks & feels then by an over confident slip-up or lack of foresight, He lets his guard down & unbeknownst to Him a Facehugger egg is nearby & gets facehugged before He has time to enjoy being a: "Being".
But will now know the fear He instilled in others when He unleashed horrors upon them the chicken would now have finally come home to roost & karma being visited back upon You.
Don't need apologize. I alway like technical aspects. And Forbidden Planet, of course. I think AC and FP similar in many ways.
That's true about that pink blob! That's a really good idea that it could be interpreted as some kind of "brain" or brain extention of the actuall brain within the being sitting at the controls &, dare-I-say-it further to Your point: "Mind-Melding" with it!...
Mind-Melding. Yes and more. Something like neuro-interface, when the Pilot and the Ship become one. Extended life form. The Pilot literally became a ship!
It seems she was a Fan of Ridley Scott and Supporter and Champion for his Projects, its interesting that FOX was considering a TV Series a while back..... but with the Disney take over, i doubt she would have as much POWER/CONTROL over what ever Disney wishes to do with the Franchise.
It appears she does value FOX's Main Franchises, but as to how much of a ROLE or how much control she would have now, thats anyone's guess and it depends IF anything was thrashed out during the Take Over that would allow her a certain LEVEL of control as part of the deal?
Regarding Ridley Scott and his ideas... i think his vision for the Franchise was the right way to go, there is only so much SNARLING and CHEST BURSTING and EGG LAYING that you can do after-all.
The Problem in HINDSIGHT was that the Prometheus we ENDED up with was Toned down too much, so some Alien Fans never had enough Answers (but sometimes some things are better off left a Mystery) and more so there was just not enough ALIEN like Content... Even if Prometheus had a bit more of Alien Engineers to it, so say our Fifield was more a Hybrid, and we saw a Neomorph like Organism escape from Milburn, and latter attacked some of the Crew...
some Fans would STILL! not be happy, they would expect to see Traditional Xenomorphs, and Clues to HOW the Eggs are made, which again some would EXPECT the Queen to be shown in this role...
Prometheus was supposed to be something that would loosely connect to ALIEN which can then go off on its own Path to expand beyond Ripley and Queens.. it was NOT intended to be a Literal Prequel as far as would Chronologically lead to ALIEN, and its sequels would have STEERED more further from Ripley and Queens.
But as it was a Alien Universe kind of Prequel, the Expectations were there from FANS! In HINDSIGHT if the FIRST Prequel had a few ALIEN Monster encounters more like Alien Engineers, and offered less vague clues to LV-223 and its connection to the Derelict on LV-426.
THEN.... they would have given Fans more of what they needed, and then would have been allowed to take the Sequel to a NEW Direction and Steer Away from ALIEN.
This would have allowed FOX to go TWO routes... bring out another ALIEN movie that could be connected or not connected to Prometheus. (Set Alien/Aliens) or prior to Alien or Aliens. But also then allow another Branch to go off with a Prometheus 2 and the Engineers.
Where Fanboys have to accept the Prometheus Franchise is something NEW... but also get some ALIEN movies that would tie into what the First Prequel had shown...
But ALAS!
Having to Cave in to assumed Demand, and give the Fans Eggs and Xenomorphs and a Prequel Series that will eventually lead to ALIEN they have the Juggling Task of HOW do you continue with Prometheus and Themes, while also having to Literally Connect to ALIEN?
Your going to find the Balance Hard, or One Aspect will suffer from Sacrifices... they tried to Balance it out, and KEEP it that David plays a KEY role... The route and themes must NOW be more ALIEN by Virtue of the Change of Direction, if they try to make a NEXT movie that would not cover the Xenomorph and try and be about Creation/David then it would just be a Distraction from whats expected from now on... which is to JOIN THE DOTS to Alien.
AND SO..................
with that in mind, i agree with what DK has said, and Disney will look more for what would get more Bums on Seats and make more Money. Having Misled us with a Literal Prequel Series, and that AC Poster... its going to be expected to have a more ALIENY set of Prequels next.
And so i feel any too deep ideas that RS had would be a Distraction and most of his ideas would sadly have to be By-Passed...
THIS... does not mean we have to abandon the Prequels, and give Fans a Cameron's Fanboys Wet Dream.... which no doubt would be more RIPLEY than Alien Covenant was David..
I think we should get a AFTER-MATH to Alien Covenants Sequel that is more ALIENY than Alien Covenant and would Answer HOW/WHEN/WHY those Eggs got on the Derelict.
Or a Prequel that would SHOW/DETERMINE that David's Xenomorphs are NOT and Can-not be those on the Derelict... in either case its so we can close to the DOOR to ALIEN.
Then any ALIEN movie set after ALIEN i feel should explore some of Blomkamp's ideas BUT not bring back Ripley, Hicks, Newt... Jonesy lol.
Or carry these ideas on as far as a ALIEN 5 thats set after Alien Resurrection.... That could show Ripley being tricked and experimented on to obtain the Xenomorph... or even have her experimented on that Extracts all Xenomorph DNA from her..... making her Human Again, at the Cost of Aging her!
I think a ALIEN 5, ALIEN 6 and ALIEN 7 that will be about Ripley would just get BLAND! Regardless of if this is a continuation Trilogy after Alien Resurrection or a Reboot Trilogy of Alien 3.
The ALIEN Franchise does-not and should-not be about RIPLEY! One more MOVIE with her would be Fine! But not if its a Reboot of Alien 3.
Maybe if Disney ok's another Alien-verse film, this one can serve as a continuation/conclusion & a reboot (of-sorts) rolled into one so We possibly get Ridley Scotts talk of an A.I.-based film as-well-as introducing new themes or advancing & augmenting older ones to seem fresh, if possible to connect with Alien.
Even to serve as the introduction to a streaming theme based on what the next proposed film presents to Us.
Well, when you think about it, what's the difference between Ripley being in cryosleep for 57 years set against travelling forward in time 57 years?
This is the main thing. Time travel firstly - it's a path to the past. Path to the future can have any form. (Cryo)sleep, traditional time travel (like teleportation) and other. But I always thinks that (Cryo)sleep - it's not a time travel. A man, who go live in the forest in Age of horses and go back in Age of vehicles - time traveler? No. I think - Time Travel idea is that a man doesn't exist in this period. As in Back to the future: Marty now → pew → teleportation → Marty in future. marty doesn't exist in teleportation period. But sleeping man exist.
Even when you consider how the Juggernaut travels in Covenant, it appears to jump through space, before decelerating over the Engineer city.
Could these ships have the capability to demateralize?
Yeah, if a spaceship moving faster than light - it should to be dematerialize. Otherwise any asteroid will say: FATALITY. ;)
Enginneers were themselves trying to tame/master time travel
Yes, they can go to time travel point and gets into the past for upgrade their race. Again and again. Yeah - it's all be in another time lines/dimensions, but - sacrifice it's a part of Engineers culture.
(i.e.) It could have been a transformed David, or a true life form that is either: "fossilized" OR... OR "petrified" in it's place. I think of how stalectites & stalegmites create themselves with water droplets over time & would accept that in some way Ripley, David or a Life Form of unknown origin either crash landed thousands of Years ago or they went back in time to end-up being the one who actually crash-lands thousands of years ago... OR... We have yet to actually encounter the REAL Space Jockey race of aliens who wind-up crash-landing thousands of years ago do to the consequences of time travel. Would LOVE IT!!!
Yeah, sounds good.
Haha. I imagine this situation without time lines, but with time circle. David or someone else created xenomorphs and Bio-Juggernaut with inspiration from Engineers. You know: U-form, Elephant-like suit. And then he go back in time and crashed on LV-426. After all - his remains will be finded by young Engineers race. They build a base on LV-223 and start exploring Derelict. They copy suits, ship form, Engineers recycle xenomorphs in Black Goo. And again - mankind expedition find them and copy, create xenomrophs from Black Goo and go back in time... endless.
Cool, keep me updated! ;)
That's why I love Prometheus, to me it really appeared to be going somewhere totally off the wall. It had those psychedelic elements.
Knowing Ridley, those brains were probably inspired by Forbidden Planet or some such.
Apologies to Leto for going off topic, just can't help myself! :)
I'm going to research more on that Lone!
Yeah and where did it come from? I want to ask Ridley or someone in the know about that. It's freakishly awesome!
That's true about that pink blob! That's a really good idea that it could be interpreted as some kind of "brain" or brain extention of the actuall brain within the being sitting at the controls &, dare-I-say-it further to Your point: "Mind-Melding" with it!...
GREAT!
A WEYLAND tv show charting the near-future, Robocop type hypthetical technocracy We would be living in heading ever further into a Blade Runner-like Earth. Dabbling in exotic concepts that have a concequence of spilling into Our daily lives providing a false promise/hope to better Our world & world view but down the track the bubble bursts & We are left with a Blade Runner-like choking world making Us want to get off the Earth & travel the stars.
But, equally interesting is after being "out there" & knowing what bad state the world is in due to the over-advancement of technologies across the planet We would rather want to come back here to the choking smog & atmosphere than be wandering out there.
A limited show between events could chart the slow upward ascention of a key few & the downward economic slide of the many.
Yeah something totally unconventional!
Notice how futuristic (for want of a better word) weaponry or concepts have been avoided for the most part. I think Ridley is afraid they would appear too Trekkish. The Alien-verse tech has always been rooted in plausibility. When, with the right minds working on it there could be some mind bending tech.
The Juggernaut had those pinky coloured blobs encased within the control console. Major Noob/Aorta speculated that they were some sort of brain!

Cool, weird, bio-organic powered tech, something that could best be described as totally Alien in nature, that you cannot wrap your head around, totally epic!
Would like something to do with time travel to be introduced into the Alien-verse that hasen't been seen onscreen already, like discovering the Enginneers were themselves trying to tame/master time travel if They hadn't already otherwise how do they get around the local area of the universe without understanding & conquering at least the basic "rules" of time travel/dilation/relativity/FTL/quantum concepts/vacume energy/wormholes/inner-space vs outer space/time light curves, etc.
It's GREAT Lone!!
& I do like a REAL-GOOD mystery too! Granted, you don't always need time travel to explain-away everything to get you out of a narrative corner you may write yourself into (and I mean "You" in the general use of the word regarding writers & creatives). I would be just as happy with the fact that it crash landed or was force-landed down onto LV-426 hundreds, if-not, thousands of years ago by conventional mechanical failiure means of explaining it, breakout of a facehugger attacking the pilot & unable to maintain control from being attacked by the thing in the first place. Or, was attacked 24-to-48 hours earlier & because their size is so gigantic, as compared to a Human, it took longer for the hatching-out symptoms to show up as opposed to how it showed up much quicker regarding Kane's symtoms from Alien as He, as a being, was much smaller in stature/size.
Nice idea HYPERNOVA!
Even when you consider how the Juggernaut travels in Covenant, it appears to jump through space, before decelerating over the Engineer city.
Could these ships have the capability to demateralize?
It's exciting to ponder, but I kinda hope it remains a mystery!
I always wondered whether the Space Jockey in some-way-or-another is one of our beloved characters whether good-or-bad that some-how ends-up there as that "thing" sitting in that seat... & always wondered if time travel or time dilation in some way had a hand in that Ship/Juggernaught crashing/force- landing & becoming the Derilict that We all have become fascinated with.
Would LOVE THAT!!!
Well, when you think about it, what's the difference between Ripley being in cryosleep for 57 years set against travelling forward in time 57 years? It achieves the same end result & is really no less plausible as a plot device.
If the logic & context work within the story then it needn't be a problem!
