Oh, and while on the note of comic books. I accidently stumbled across an ALIENS comic book at Barnes & Nobles.
It's called, "ALIENS" (30th Anniversary Addition). It's bound in a hardcover book.
This comic book bound series was created after the success of the movie ALIENS. This is a direct sequel to ALIENS before ALIEN3 was ever an idea! So, in a sense, this comic book series is an ALIEN3 before anyone ever thought to make the movie! I have purchased it but I haven't been able to go through the massive hardcover collection.
Apparently it sold VERY well and got GREAT reviews when the comics were originally released, which is why they made a 30th Anniversary hardcover book binding all the comics.
I believe it was Gavin who made a post about it in the News section, but it wasn't released on time, according to Gavin.
I've been reading them since they came out. The #3 of #4 was just released like a day ago.
I liked the first two so far. I should get the third one in the main within the next 3 or 4 weekdays.
The only thing I would have to say is that the story is moving a bit quick. It's not too quick, but it is faster than I'd like.
Still, my guess on the reason why it is like that is because it's in a comic book format. This ALIEN3 is my first comic book I have owned and read since childhood, so I'm not used to how comics work.
I did start a thread in this forum too acknowledging the November release date. Not many people responded, so I guess it just got lost in the shuffle of other threads.
I suggesting getting these comic books because this is something special. It's not just another story. It's a story that was intended to be a movie. We need to appreciate this comic release and enjoy it!
The last one will be released somewhere around mid February.

Controlled all the systems, held all the power and you had to thwart him.
I never played Mass Effect but it sounds like a similar direction?
Indeed. The important thing would be the game's AI. The goal would be beating David either by killing him or just surviving, but it would be mostly about wits. Just think how great it could be to figure out how to use David's methods to outsmart him. That would be a very ambitious game.
To suck the winds out of my own sails, Isolation was a veritable work of art and highly revered- but I don't think it turned enough profit to be considered for a sequel.
One can dream.
Oh, top example! Goldeneye was mind blowing when it was released and it was hard to see how Rare could top that....but they did, and then some.
If the game was set initially in the Covenant's established colony and David was like an Overlording Big Brother. Controlled all the systems, held all the power and you had to thwart him.
If his character had the brutal lack of regard for human life he showed in the Advent clip he could be as terrifying as the Xenomorph if he started stalking you.
But unlike the xenomorph he could trap you, herd you, force you around the colony in a way that left you feeling powerless.
It would be a different experience to the sheer animalistic fear the xeno induced, but just as powerful
Actually, Gavin put it best when describing a successor. We fogies will recall how Rare made both Golden Eye 64 and Perfect Dark. PD had the same vibe and over all spirit of GE but felt fresh too.
David and Amanda in a game. That sounds enticing. It could still have the Isolation vibe and intensity, only this time, David would be the major AI instead of the Xeno. Imagine dealing with David messing with your mind for the duration of a game like the Xeno did. This time, the challenge would be trying to figure out whether David is telling the truth, using sins of omission or outright lying. It would be very satisfying to see Amanda hand David his ass at the end!
You can damn well guarantee Amanda would get that cabin on the lake built
Great point dk.
CA left no stone unturned to make Isolation so great. It would be damn hard to top that effort without it being more of the same.
How about this as a possibility. Just thinking out loud here
IF we don't get a cinematic sequel to Alien Covenant perhaps Amanda Ripley could have a run-in with David and the engineers as a sequel.
Given the timeline between Covenant, and the events on the Sevastopol (33 years) you could tie in a canonable conclusion to Ridley's Sequel with Amanda Ripley, and give a different but worthy sequel to Isolation. 2 birds with 1 stone and all that.
The Sevastapol was orbiting KG-348 in the Zeta Reticuli Region in at least "close" proximity to Calpamos and LV-223, there is no reason Amanda Ripley could not have been caught up with this story arc.
Imagine the irony that while Ellan Ripley slept her daughter was responsible for stopping David and potentially eliminating the Engineers as a threat to humanity. Given we do not see the species again in the franchise after the derelict on LV426 in Alien/Aliens something happened between Covenant and Alien to the Engineer race.
The sequel game / third prequel could take place on Origae-6, Paradise or LV-223 and focus on battling the antagonistic David AND explore the Engineers more.
Perhaps 33 years after the Covenant Amanda is picked up by a domestic ship near whichever planet David had taken the ship to. They have since set-up a fully fledged colony in which David cruelly Overlord over them. Then the Engineers arrive to get revenge for what we did to their colony on Planet 4.
It would be a completely different experience to Isolation but maintain the high standards set in Isolation. Make it semi-opened world, let you explore the planet, the colony, Engineer ships/structure etc.
Lets face it, Amanda Ripley is a much more likeable central character than Daniels. Include her and Tennessee but make Amanda the lead.
It would be nice if this all leads into another film. I'm not sure how much money they can make on games but a good film could prove the franchise has some value.
Isolation was nothing less than a sheer labor of love. As great as it is, a sequel of more of the same would disappoint. It could have some of the same elements but may have more action. I am not really sure there should be a sequel with the bar as high as it is.
BigDave There have currently been 3 episodes of the mini-series released so far XD
Thanks for the link!Excellent Article Lone!
Ha Ha Forgive me for the additional P ;)
But a good point raised none the less... Dr Shaw was a Plain Jane Character, many found her Annoying! Yet its from her as a Proxy that the Great Unknowns and Questions could have been asked!
Noomi is capable of performing better than she did in Prometheus sometimes your limited to the Character Given and how it is written.... A continuation of her Naive Character would have been a bit bland! But discovering Truths that Shatter her Religion and Faith could have led to a Character ARC that would have given her more to work with... she even hinted at such in Interviews.
FOX and maybe RS felt her Character was just not going to be that leading Heroine Protagonist that Ripley was... but then Ripley was not quite that Heroine until the Sequel to ALIEN..
So indeed they went for Daniels... a Character who in the Space of the Movie they Forced from the Evolution of Ripley from Alien to the end of Aliens... and to be FRANK.. never came off as a believable Ripley Replacement either.
With Dr Shaws Flawed Character there was Scope!
With Daniels... it seems like it will be Forced to be a Ripley MK2
There was a lot of potential to see the Dynamic Between Dr Shaw and David... from the point she recovers his Head... to the Point she ended up on that Slab of Stone!
Its a case of how many Fans would watch a Movie where there is only the TWO of them for like 40% of the Movie?
I would love to get a NOVEL of the Crossing... a Extended Story of that Journey of Dr Shaw, there is a lot of Dialog and Philosophical Scenes that could have been played out and numerous fitting Mary Shelley Qoutes!
There is a lot from Frankenstein that fits Davids Arc, and the events that happened to Dr Shaw. But i would say the Direction of Alien Covenant would not have been what i would have chosen either...
I would have liked to have seen her interact with these Would be Engineer Gods.. They could have been Malevolent or even Benevolent to her, which could lead David to Destroy them to Protect her/him or Destroy them because he is Jealous of how they respond to her, and how she shuns David or so it seems, now she has met her Creator.
So yeah... throwing Dr Shaw under the Bus and Engineers was a wasted Potential, just to please the Fanboys!
"They want Aliens i will give them %£"%$£^ Aliens"
The "To create, first one must destroy"
Was Davids Response to when Dr Shaw asked WHY, after David informed them the Ship was scheduled to go to Earth before things went to POT!
So we know at least David knows what the Bio-Weapon can do, and we know he knows the ship intended to go to Earth, we just dont know if David has any idea as to WHY.
So a lot depends on what David learns about the LV-223 Experiments, and what he learns about WHY these Engineers create life on Worlds.... but these are things the viewer is never shown... we can only assume what David found out.
At the Basics.... he discovers the Black Goo can Manipulate/Evolve Organic Matter into something NEW as we see with the Hammerpedes and Fifield... and so its easy to speculate that the GOO Destroys a Organism, and from this we get a Evolution. And so indeed from Destruction would come Creation...
We could speculate or David could that the Bombardment on Earth would Destroy all Life and from its Death would arise NEW Life that is based on the DNA within the Black Goo.
This theme is repeated in the Franchise... a Xenomorph requires a Host and its Birth signals the Death of the Host. "To create, first one must destroy"
This is what David would know the Bio-Weapon would do... but WHY... thats the Big Question... at the Basics David would know these Engineers have not been back to Earth, and something triggered them to want to Destroy Mankind or at least Upgrade us... and in this Complex David saw a Devotion to the Experiments, the Mural, the Fresco and David would see that Sacrifice was needed to Give LIFE to Organisms depicted... and these Engineers seemed to HOLD these Organisms in High Regard... yet had abandoned Mankind.
So at very least David would have concluded the Engineers had created something more PERFECT and deemed to Evolve Life on Earth to this more PERFECT abomination.
This NO-DOUBT is where his "To create, first one must destroy" reply came from....
If Dr Shaw asked WHY, then his response would depend on IF the above is the only information or conclusion he has.
Maybe his reply could quote Mary Shelley
"Man's yesterday may ne'er be like his morrow;
Nought may endure but mutability!”
or
"Nothing is so painful to the human mind as a great and sudden change.”
Where he would then Smile and Give no further Explanation, for IF Dr Shaw understood Mary Shelley and could peace together what she has seen... she would get her Answer...
Evolution/Change is a Necessity
This is very Good News... i would be very interested in reading this.
Never seen it.... will have to look into it.... Certainly Interesting as indeed any kind of Future where we explore Space, set up a Mining Colony.... as with folks working long way from home on Earth.. is Boredom and Being alone with not much to do! Take the Outpost 31 Team from The Thing! you would need things to occupy yourself... and so thats very interesting with the OUTLAND movie in that they have set up some Entertainment to allow the workers who work hard, to be able to play hard and unwind.
Regarding the OT!
Indeed i had discussed before the Franchise has more to it than Ripley and Queens.... but we would face the similar Problem in exploring a Weyland-Yutani movie that does-not have Xenomorphs or anything related...
That similar Problem... would be they cant use the ALIEN prefix because certain fans would EXPECT to have Xenomorphs and Queens and Marines.... even if there was NO Alien Prefix.... and it had Weyland-Yutani in the Title... then again the Fanboys would be wanting to know where the Colonial Marines are at!
For example you could have a movie called..
Dissolution
Make it about the Weyland-Yutani company after Aliens and explore what leads to the Company being NO-MORE! and have it having little or nothing to do with the Xenomorph.
Problem is would many people know what Dissolution is about as in about the Corrupt Company in the Alien Franchise? And would the Plot/Trailers alone get the Average JOE in to watch such a Movie? This is where they then have to Market it more Heavy so people KNOW its about the company in the ALIEN Franchise or even drop in the Alien Prefix.... which in either case Fans would expect there to then be Xenomorphs and Marines.
When Prometheus was being released... if you asked say a Random Million People, how many would have known it was a Alien Franchise connected movie? Then on the Flip-side those who knew it was connected either could not see what the connections were, or was disappointed it was not a Alieny Movie.
So while there is scope to expand other Stories set within the Universe of the Franchise... a lot would still expect some Xenomorph connection. or Ripley etc.
Interesting details...
So it seemed that Alien Isolation had its share of Critics, for similar reasons to Prometheus, for similar reasons to IF we got another Alien Movie instead of Alien Covenant that would have ONE Xenomorph like Monster that kept to the Shadows...
The Fanbase has some different interests and a lot Sadly prefer the more Action Type that ALIENS Gave and so would maybe have preferred a Game that was more Action Shooter.
I have to agree to a degree... any Alien Isolation 2 would have to do very well to continue the exact same Formula, it would likely had needed a little more Action! The Alien Isolation Formula could maybe work better with another Alien Franchise Spin off.... such as going down to LV-223, Planet 4 or Origae-6... I just dont think seeing Amanda either on another Ship, Space Station or Planet/Moon base and having to sneak around and avoid a LONE Xenomorph would quite work again.
Hopefully the Fans of Alien Isolation could be heard and make Disney see that there is a Market for a Survival Horror Game like Isolation but i also think a ideal sequel or similar game would need a bit of Action too....
But it does come down to $$$$$ and i think Isolation looked like a Game that could have cost quite a bit of $$$$ and so it will likely depend indeed on making a Good % Return! With most of the Team Disbanded.... any sequel may NEVER quite feel the same...
Maybe in Future we could see a sequel? But at present it looks unlikely... HOWEVER.. Fan Reaction to the Amanda Ripley Projects they have in the Pipeline could sway them to make another similar PC/Console Game. It depends how well and how well received the Amanda Ripley Projects are.
I highly recommend it.It's a semi remake of the western high noon. It's Peter Hyam who also directed Capricorn One(which i haven't seen)And 2010 The year we make contact (which i ironically bought around the same time as Outland)
Outland is a gem at least in my opinion.
I Raptus 8 Yes I did play a bit, but it could not defeat my aversion towards the nostalgia (retro-futurism, lightning, alien story cliches, etc), considered the main feature of it.
If you liked, bought it and was hoping for a new one, I can understand your likely frustration but i still think that the whole franchise could take a long break.
ignorantGuy out of curiosity have you played Alien Isolation? The game has a more compelling, intense and well-crafted plot than half the movies.
Alien Isolation is nothing but a beacon of positivity for the franchise
Sorry, but the fact that there will be no more Isolation games is a good thing. Time to let the whole $$$$-show die and come up with something new all together.
Looks very Alien and with Connery to boot! I will have to see this!
Indeed you were lol.I just got around to seeing it last year after reading about it on a sci fi list.Picked it up for a buck at a thrift store. It has that Alien look and feel,Jerry Goldsmith composed. The corporate corruption feels like Weyland Yutani.
LOL! I think I was the one who made that suggestion. I have heard of Outland but never watched it.
BigDave Having a vague outline is not a vision, and remember how he said he does not do sequels? He cannot be bothered with continuity and coherence, his makes up things as he goes, shoving in what he thinks is cool that morning.
It's Rapace not Rappace, and if you can't even be bothered to remember her name correctly it's no wonder that they could just kill her off, to bring some resembling to Ripley (hair-do included).
As for his series, I think will be the next The terror, pretty well received by critics, but not the next big thing...
BioDegradable That is a great point! Purity.
However, the Engineer seemed both smarter and stronger when it ripped David's head off.
I suppose, he could say, being only partly smug, that he just let the natural take place - evolution. The survival of the fittest.
It is only natural for smart specie to outmaneuver dumber one out, especially if the later is a survival risk. Where are the denisovan, neanderthal and australopithecus? Dead and assimilated.
I don't think David could or would give a logical answer/justifiable and might just be coy and say "Because I can".
So we have our David and Dr Shaw, heading off to find these Engineers or where they came from!
Dr Shaw was not happy at what she discovered, how can these beings be GODs? They are MORTAL and they are NOT BENEVOLENT towards Mankind. She wants Answers to WHY they created us, WHY they then wanted to Destroy us and she is still in hope that there has to be someone who is above the Engineers who created them... and WHOM would fit more with the Loving Benevolent God she worships!
Do you think she would have FOUND such a God, would he welcome Dr Shaw to Paradise and then she is reunited with her Father and Mother? Not Holloway as he was a non-believer and would burn in HELL... or did he get Salvation from his Sacrifice? And would feel the FIRE no more?
NOPE!.... this would be FAR from what was in store for Dr Shaw... Ridley Scott Confirmed they would reach the Planet of the Engineers, they would Discover these beings who would be FAR from Benevolent. They would also NOT be Gods in the Traditional Sense... and that Paradise could actually be a Dark and Ominous World.
How would Dr Shaw get any answers from such beings... and would these answers be anything close to what her Faith Teaches?
Was their a Sinister Reason for our Creation?
Would these beings want to Destroy Dr Shaw, would they subject her to experiments?
How would they react to David?
Would David be foolish and willing to risk those answers at the risk of getting KILLED by those Engineers? David is Free now.. surely he does-not want to be Disconnected...
Hence maybe we need pay attention to the comment... But David is Bringing Hell with him, what happens if the Black Goo infects a God or a Machine?
Prometheus did-not show us enough of what the Black Goo can do and where it came from, or many Xenomorph like Organisms... You can be sure the Sequel may have showed us what this stuff can do...
And i have a feeling that Dr Shaws Fate would have been sealed similar to Alien Covenant regardless, be it at the hands of David, or the Engineers or via her own Curiosity.
I dont think Dr Shaw would have had much chance of a Happy Ending! Someone would have thrown her under the Bus!
I think we have to consider what ROUTE was they going with a Prometheus sequel? What did Prometheus Accomplish?
It showed us that the Space Jockey Race was likely or connected to our Engineers. The Engineers ships are connected to the Derelict. But it has some Aesthetic/Size differences
It showed us that these beings had been experimenting with stuff as a Bio-Weapon that has some Genetic Link to the Xenomorph DNA but it did not expand on it in depth.
It expanded on the Space Jockey Race as being Humanoid and Creators, and connect them to the Chariots of the Gods (Ancient Astronaut) type Plot/Theory.
It involved various Philosophical Themes about Creation, Sub Creation, Evolution, Perfection... plus Religious Themes to a degree.
It left us on a Cliff Hanger to the TWO Survivors a Religious Female who has LOST everything but keeps her Faith, in spite of discovering her WOULD BE GODS are FAR from what he Faith Teaches... with a Synthetic Android who has been mistreated by his Creator, who is NOW Free... and its perplexed by his Companions Determination to seek out and Discover Mankinds Creators for Answers..
YET!
Prometheus had its Flaws.... but apart from some of the writing and how the Plot was Executed... we had a number of Nagging Problems.....
Some Fans were Disappointed we had NO Xenomorph Origins... NO Xenomorphs or Similar... and some where not pleased with the Engineers and expected the Space Jockey to be more ALIEN and Jaw Dropping!
But RS wanted to Steer Away from the ALIEN...
So where did this leave us? I shall Continue Next!
The Big Problem comes down to what a Majority of people Interpret a ALIEN Movie has to be about! And this for the Majority is...
*Xenomorph Organism (or related).
*Threat of this Organism to Humanity/Characters.
*Protagonist/Hero usually Female
*Some kind of Nefarious Agenda (reason for pursue the Xenomorph).
Any movie with the ALIEN Prefix or Association with the Franchise would be expected to include these. Typically in that ORDER too...
When doing a Prequel.... then at the VERY least a majority of Fans are going to want to know about the Xenomorphs Origins more than anything else... some even as far as HOW/WHEN/WHY those Eggs came on the Derelict, and a number Expected a ALIEN Prequel to Deliver that!
Prometheus started to go this route... but was changed in favor of concentrating on other Themes, and Creation and the Space Jockey race and how it connects to Humanity and Creation in General... and to set up a SPIN-OFF Series that would Steer Away from the Xenomorph, that Cargo and WHAT happened to the Space Jockey and WHEN!
The Clue was in the TITLE.... hence NO Prefix of ALIEN
but some fans Expected a ALIEN movie and was disappointed!
By doing a U-Turn to give a Direct ALIEN Prequel route, they have set up the Expectation that these will be very much ALIEN... a second movie about David and AI, that may introduce the Engineers at the End... would have to HAVE its fair share of Xenomorphs because its expected!
They should have gone for a Prometheus 2 that either answered in part the Xenomorph and more about what triggered and when the events that lead to Egg Cargos being deployed on Engineer Ships! Then allow a Prometheus 3 to not cover such things!
or in part have a sequel that was about a Recovery Mission to LV-223 that would give more clues.... and its latter Scene, set up a "in the mean time" and show us something similar the Crossing... that allows for a Prometheus 3 to be about what David and Dr Shaw will be doing.... allowing the LV-223 Prometheus 2 to close the door to ALIEN.
I had ideas years ago how to have done BOTH....
But ALAS!
That is a BIG Question!
Regarding David it depends on how much he could Gauge was the Reason from what he had learned/assumed from LV-223 and we dont know how much he knew as its a case of how much information could he gain from the Computer Systems he accessed and the Engineer Writing on the Walls/Doors etc.
In Reality From Destruction does Rise Life, some Events have been Necessary for others to happen... The Death of a STAR can Spell Destruction for its Solar System but then also kick start NEW Beginning over Many Millions if Years/Billions.
If the Dinosaurs were never killed off 65 Millions years ago, would Mankind had been here today?
We can look at it in a Biblical Sense too, GOD had to Destroy the Earth with the Deluge so that he could Allow for a Fresh Start...
We also have the Natural Order of things.. Evolution, Survival of the Fittest... Some of Evolution spelt the end for certain Life... which allowed other Life to Strive!
Its really open to either as in terms to what David would have said if you asked WHY?
I think RS comments and parts of Alien Covenant give us the Answer.... When the Engineers Deem a World/Creation to be a Failure or a Threat... in order for them to begin with something NEW they have to Destroy what was there before.
Its kind of Funny you bring up that kind of Salamander, how fitting it looks as a basis for the Xenomorph, they can even Regenerate so how fitting.
But ALAS i doubt this was even a consideration when they was designing the Xenomorph.
The Dorsal Tubes were there because they was part of HR Gigers Necronom IV which they decided to use as the Basis for the Monster in ALIEN and so apart from looking very Cool/Alien and carrying over from HR Gigers works, i dont think they had any idea/thought into what role those Tubes had!
When working on the Sequels.... it appears each Team/Director never gave continuation much of a thought! For example, Alien 3 and the Lack of them on the Runner... did they sit down at think WHY does this not have those Dorsal Tubes and thus have a reason WHY those in ALIEN/ALIENS did? I dont think they did at all..
We can Consider Reasons why the Alien in Alien had them, and then look at those in Aliens and look at Environmental Factors and then ask... so WHY did the Camerons Xenomorphs need them?
If we considered they could be used to make a Hive, and Cocoon Victims then we have to ask WHY does the Runner not have them?
Throughout the Franchise it appears they never give such things as far as Continuation much of a thought... and its just about designing something a bit NEW with each release, just for sakes of being a bit different and no more it would seem.
HOPEFULLY... when the Prequels are Done.. we can get another Book that has a in depth and Final Scientific Look at the Xenomorphs in all varieties and give us some explanations.
I would argue against that... it appears there was some vision but i would agree however there has been a lot of chopping and changing, some of which we can point the finger at Ridley Scott and the Writers, but we have to CONSIDER that those in Charge at FOX have had a lot of say into what Stays/Goes i think we only need to look at the Set-Up for Prometheus 2 and then RS comments about Alien Covenant in context to "they want Aliens i will give them $£"%£^ Aliens"
This combined with other comments about after AC and its disappointment, RS had said he felt he was ahead of the Curve/Game with Prometheus. The Problem i have is NOT knowing what really RS has on his mind... he seems to be doing a lot of YES work for FOX... in that in the run up and promotion to Alien Covenant he appeared to be in favor of the Xenomorph and route they are going.. and not being so Negative Towards the Beast and so Toned Down the Beast is Cooked with, its a working Formula and you can go a few more rounds etc..
To then after the disappointment he comes out with comments that seem to indicate the Beast is Cooked... so what side of the FENCE was he on? Was he only supportive to please FOX so that he can partake in the Franchise and Sequels?
IF Disney decide to make a sequel and have Ripleys Mother in it and she KILLS David and Sacrifices herself as the Space Jockey... would RS protest... or would we hear him say stuff like "i think the Ripely Connection really fits and her Mothers Sacrifice in Alien Awakening fits well with Ripleys Eventual Sacrifice in Alien 3"
Or would he be like "£!"$%$&.... that how Stupid a idea is that!!!" it would then be a case of Disney either takes on board what RS says, or they go "well this is the route we are taking, if you dont like it we shall get Blomkamp in"
Regarding Fassbender at this time he was a very Good Actor in Hollywood... his Character in Prometheus was interesting and one of the Stand Out Performances... Noomi Rappace came across at times, Wooden, and Naive her Character just Did-not stand out enough...
But there was more potential for Rappace, if they continued with a Story ARC! But with the Change of Direction where they must have deemed a Movie about Dr Shaw and David meeting these Would Be Gods.. would maybe not be ideal and certainly it appeared they could not SETTLE on a way to explore this Plot... that they then decided to U-Turn in a more basic Plot... a lot which was driven by how they felt Fan Reaction to Prometheus for having no Xenomorph Answers or Xenomorphs was something Fans was disappointed with, and they (FOX) may have had concerns that the expectations on Prometheus as a Prequel that did-not deliver what they (Fans) expected, that sets up a sequel that would steer away from Xenomorphs and follow Dr Shaw and her Quest for Answers and Davids Story Arc.. would be something maybe a lot of Fans would not be interested in.
Rightfully some can be upset as they felt the Franchise needs something NEW, and this in part was what Prometheus was trying to do and RS Vision... But Fans seemed to expect Prometheus to be a Literal Alien Prequel, and not be interested in Prometheus setting up a NEW Tangent that steered away from LV-426 and the Derelict.
Prometheus is a VICTIM of trying something interesting but within the Confines of the ALIEN Universe... Imagine if the movie had NO Weyland Connections but had a different Company and Owner... Imagine if the Engineers Ships/Suits had no connection to the Derelict/Space Jockey and imagine if the Monsters would have less to do with the Xenomorph Aesthetic...
They could have been left Free to explore something NEW/FRESH to a degree... but the CURSE of being connected to a ALIEN movie is always going to have Fans Expect it will have Xenomorphs and Queens!
I feel any Alien Covenant Sequel would have to Cave in and actually be more Alieny than even Alien Covenant, and less about the other Themes RS may have wanted to explore.
It will be interesting to see what Ridley Scotts TV Series Raised by Wolves is like and how well that does... because maybe if it does well then RS could be like TOLD YOU SO.
Docking Ship There was/is no RS vision he just makes shit up as he goes and reacts. Of course there is also his "love" of Fastbender. Ridley Scott is a director of the "cool" and his idea of profound is a bunch of cliches and half-backed.
I'd rather see a completely new story without the beast, space marines, evil/nazi androids, evil corporations and such. Is too much to ask for something that tells meaningful about the human condition. If this means nuking the alien franchise, I'm willing to take the trade.
