I agree with Dark Nebula here. The OP pic is neat but does not look like anything in the Alien franchise I have seen. The heads look pretty much the same except the one on the right seems to have its overbite lower jaw chomped off.
Hmm it doesn't really look like a SJ skull to me (the SJ has a more elongated head). To me, that drawing looks like it is depicting 2 merged mammal skulls. David had a bunch of animal skulls on display.

These could be a different type of mammals native to Planet 4,maybe affected by the black goo.
David also has 2 engineer heads on display

Those are my assumptions.
@Gavin
I will try and watch Discovery with a open mind and take it like the JJ Abrahams movies as a Alternative look on the Franchise as far as Aesthetically, i am a Purest who loves the Iconic Klingons we got from the 80's and JJ Abrahams ones are a bit different.
I think the NEW Klingons look interesting as far as a Race, but its hard to accept this is what the Klingons are now lol, but as a Stand Alone NEW Race they appear interesting Aesthetically. I have seen a few Trailers and the Like and i can pick some Flaws... Such as how Sonequa Martin-Green Character seems to be able to Beat or Better a Klingon General in Hand-to-Hand Combat had got me to think are these Klingons or Ferengi even though Aesthetically they appear to be more Tougher than Klingons and more like Jem'Hadar
I think a lot appears to be about Political Correctness and Feminist Movement....
Which is not such a BAD things... so i can see the Klingons all not only having different Skin Tones, but also Aesthetically they appear to have more Cultural/Creed Diversity than the Many Races of Humans have... so it could be a attempt to show more Diversity within the Species. Because well Ferengi all look the same, and Cardassian and Klingons did likewise compared to the Diversity of Appearance of the Human Race and other Humanoids like Bajoran and so if this is the case... i think maybe we should applaud this attempt to add some diversity.
@Ignorantguy
Sadly the Attempted Expansion of the Universe beyond Eggs, Face Huggers, Xenomorphs and Ripley... with the Company and Synthetics playing a more Back Ground Role... was a interested concept.. and Broad in how it introduced the Engineers... but it did take the Franchise a bit far from ALIEN for some.
Alien Covenant had made a bit of a mess, because the Emphasis seemed more on David, than the Company, than the Xenomorph and even the Engineers.... The Engineers brushed under the carpet and NO longer have any Godlike or Superior Species Look to them, they just came across as Slightly Taller and yet not as Advanced Humans.
Even the Xenomorphs and Neomorphs were not used well enough, they just never came across as threatening as the Monsters from the FIRST TWO movies Especially.
They can FIX it.... but i think we do need to be introduced to a NEW more Alien Species... above the Engineers, because Alien Covenant did to the Engineers what AVPR did to the Xenomorphs.
One of those fuckers from Despicable me movie kills Rosenthal

"And for Sir Scott, I will skip your Battle of Britain"
Oh i see you meant Ridley Scotts plans ;)
I think my reply does show how HARD it is to continue now, they have set down a course and painting/wrote themselves into a Corner, where carrying on this route is something i feel will Alienate (Pun Intended) a lot of the Franchise Fans further... The Emphasis on David and now as the Creator is something i feel has indeed Split a lot of Fans and Turned a lot off the plans RS has for the Franchise.
"You know your way of life and beliefs reflect in how you build, one can make a comparison between the Amish and the Catholics to see what I mean"
Certainly a Good Point.... Planet 4 does have a lot of Roman Influences and Greek too, and following the Ancient Aliens Plot... we maybe have to assume either the Engineers Influenced the Ancient Architecture of Ancient Greece and Rome... or Vice Versa.
The Amish vs Catholics is a interesting point... TWO different ways/cultures to worship and follow essentially the same Doctrine, i think looking at the Planet 4 Engineers we could interpret this Civilization who have witnessed Corruption and have attempted to maybe Change their WAYS and chosen to maybe abandon some of the Rituals and Culture their Race had in the long distance past.. to SHUN it all and Live a more Simplistic Life.
Part of the Alien Covenant Plot was hinting that the Covenant Mission was a attempt at a Fresh Start to Leave the Rotting Paradise that was once Earth, now Polluted and Corrupted by Mankind over the Centuries.
My idea for Alien Ascension was to take this FRESH start, by having the Colony Set up but have some Rules/Boundaries and Principles so they Do-Not Fall down the same Path that Mankind had on Earth and so kind of YES a Escaping a Catholic Capitalist kind of World to start a more Simple and Secluded New World like the Amish.
The Problem is with this route the movie kind of drifts away from ALIEN too much as in the Xenomorph, Engineer Race and Connection.. But Alas Alien Covenant Started this Path... where alternatives are hard... apart from the ALIENS on-board the Covenant or ALIENS on Origae-6 Outpost kind of Flick...
I am not sure EVERY Statue from Ancient Times were Painted, i am sure many would have been but also many Statues are not painted.
The Engineers did Paint the Frescos, and i would say they had Arts unless we Assume David invented all the Writing/Drawing Materials.. I think we never really got to see inside any of the Engineer City Buildings apart from the Cathedral and so its hard to say how colorful or artistic the interiors of most of the buildings would have been.
The franchise has ignored some Actual History but its a Sci-Fi its not supposed to be Real and so has freedom to have things loosely based on Historical Events... I agree some better Research and Connections would have helped.. Prometheus set up a Franchise that could have touched on the Ancient Mankind/Visitation aspect but Alien Covenant chose to ignore this.
"again be fantasy as you never care about historical accuracy"
My ideas are at the Point of a Broad Concepts, that i would next need to Flesh Out, and Research a bit more to change things and add things. So its just a basic Concept for Continuation. Where i am in the Process of what Historical and Philosophical and Mythos/Religious themes can i apply and how to apply them and which to leave out.
Again its not going to be a case of having to Exactly Match Events/Fables told by certain Ancient Works.. not by going a Literal Like for Like Route..... Such as i think RS had ideas to explore some of Paradise Lost but not to give a movie Franchise that would be Literally a Exact Copy of John Miltons work
The Franchise has hit a Snag with the Prequels Routes and Especially Alien Covenant, it is like the Writers have Ran out of and came up with some ideas that are flawed...
But we cant exactly go back prior to Prometheus and then Re-boot the whole Prequels to make the Space Jockey a Alien Race not connected to Mankind or our Ancient Past/Creation... In Hindsight they should have explored something more ALIEN and maybe had Xenomorph Organisms and Origins Explained better in the First Prequel
Its a case of Damage Limitation now for them... i was trying to think of how to take the Ball they Dropped and Carry on with something that does not contradict what routes/plans had appeared to be laid down, by the Prequels...
A Alternative would be to drop David, and concentrate on the Xenomorph but its how do we continue with THIS?
You could end up with a Movie that works like a Cross Between ALIEN and that Movie PANDORUM i actually had a idea about this before i ever even heard of Pandorum, where David experiments on Colonists on one area of the Ship before he loses control... this part of the Ship Becomes a Hive that is Quarantined, and the other Colonist in another section of the Ship Awaken just prior to Origae-6 and go to explore the Sectioned Off Quarantined Hive and discover the Hell that this Ship has became and breaking the Quarantined Area they allow the Xenomorphs to Rub Free...
This kind of Flick would be very much a Pandorum meets Alien but only with many more Xenomorphs and so would be a Hadleys Hope on a Space Station kind of Fanboys Flick.
The other Option would be a Aftermath Movie of the Colony setting up on Origae-6 and then finding out about David and the Xenomorph being unleashed and we ARRIVE as a Handful of Survivors are trying to keep themselves Quarantined from the Xenomorphs just as a Weyland Ship arrives...
Again this would give us a ALIENS Re-run kind of Flick... and so its a case of HOW do you carry on from Alien Covenant... include David but try and change some of the flaws and introduce Humans into the Mix... without giving us a Hadleys Hope in Space or on Origae-6 AKA just like ALIENS kind of Flick?
Sadly this is the kind of Corner they have Written themselves into.
To bad however in reality all ancient statues were painted as for example Augustus here (not very engineer like):

The writers/director seem not to give a s**t about history, as clearly shown in the Gladiator (which is more or less a fantasy a mish-mash of preconceived popular notions and modern ideals). And let's not confuse Renaissance statues (David, St whomever) with ancient ones in this context, as it can be said for sure engineers did not visit earth than. (And people from the Renaissance had Scott or Logan levels of interest in the historical accuracy about there claims of the ancient world).
And why don't the engineers have any paint on there walls? Only to be "creepy",? But the human maps to LV-223 painted on the walls? was painting a human innovation (very unlikely)? For me the lack of paintings make the look of the city of Planet 4 as if was abandoned for millennia not lived in.
And BigDave why would the most corrupt "civilization" (the Romans) on Earth, who killed the Engineer emissary, look the most like the city on Planet 4? You know your way of life and beliefs reflect in how you build, one can make a comparison between the Amish and the Catholics to see what I mean.
And for Sir Scott, I will skip your Battle of Britain movie as it will once again be fantasy as you never care about historical accuracy. (Well at least the overrated Nolan fared much better in that department).
Wow its been almost two years since i started this topic. Yes, I still believe that an anime adaptation to the ALIEN series would be great.
@ BigDave,
Having watched Discovery and the reboot movies I suspect the producers of Star Trek are trying to explain the different appearances of Klingons as seen throughout the franchises long life...
In the original series, Klingons looked human. But when the movies (Wrath of Khan I believe was their first appearance) came along they had developed sharp teeth and a ridged forehead, but then when the reboot came along we got a more animalistic, and hairless version of what had been introduced in the movies.
!!!SPOILER WARNING!!!
In Discovery it was revealed that security chief Tyler was in actuality the albino Klingon Voq, who has been surgically and genetically altered to appear human.
I suspect that in season 2 other Klingons will also undergo this procedure (possible to escape a virus targeting their DNA) and that it will be explained that over time their original visage will blend with what they have altered themselves into, resulting in the classic ridged forehead and long-haired Klingons we know and love.
@BigDave, look I can't care anymore. 1 year has passed since Covenant and I still hate it. Recently I've try to re-watch it and I stopped when FastBender said that 2000 pour souls line. Cliche it the purest form.
There will be no more expanding on this topic, as RS seems more interested in the nazi rapist robot in space and the hardcore Alien fans hate the engineers even more with David creating the xenomorph. I have heard even a review (Angry Joe was it?) who said that they did not like the new Star trek because the klingons looked like the Engineers. Even the artists said that the Engineers were boring. Why should I still care about it either?
I was going to make a New Topic but this could fit in this subject to expand it and save taking up more Topic Spaces....
While i am very disappointed with the NEW Klingons from Star Trek Discovery who look very Un-Klingon to me, they did have a more suitable appearance to something in the ALIEN Franchise to me... we see the LV-223 Engineers and their underneath Pressure Suits, and the like Gills in their Necks... and i feel if we incorporated some Xenomorph Elements to those Engineers and some of the Concepts from Prometheus from Alternative Fifield Heads, to the Engineers Concepts with No Ears... and we incorporated these into the Engineers (if they was Evolved more with Xenomorph DNA) then i think we would not be FAR OFF the look of the NEW Star Trek KLINGONS

These Klingons Suits/Costumes have that Predator meets Engineer look to them too.
If we take a look at the Bottom Left Klingon with Elongated head, and imagined a LV-223 Engineer infected as some of the Fifield Concepts shown but incorporated the Xenomorph Ridges... so we have a Hybrid of the Fifield Concepts and LV-223 Engineers with elements of the Xenomorph Dome Ridges from ALIENS then i feel we would end up with a being very close to that one KLINGON

Which some of these Klingons would look more fitting to be a Race in the Alien Universe tied to a Race above the Engineers who have Xenomorph DNA. But they just dont fit right as a Reboot Klingons.
Would something Similar had been INTERESTING if we explored a Race above the ENGINEERS?
@Ignortantguy
Indeed it certainly fits, and so those Prometheus Engineers were Soul-less but then why? Ridley Scott referred to them as Fallen Angels, but i think also if these Engineers are Clones/Engineered like Replicants are then maybe they LACK a SOUL so the Eyes being Windows to our Souls Metaphor could fit for sure.
This image shows the Scale of those Statues... and its shame as i dont recall seeing these used in any shots from Alien Covenant.

Is this the new VR game they are planning? :o/
Another Augustus of prima porta statue spotted

I've tried to like AVPR, hoped it might have been a grower, but there is just nothing likeable about the film. But I'll try
Pro:
Wolf! Total badass Pred.
I sure as hell wasn't looking at the clock....but that scene where she got pwned by the Pred Shuriken was brutal!
It had Sam Merlott from True Blood in it....briefly
Cons:
Xeno design was terrible and stupid looking
Totally indifferent characters...every single one of them. Couldn't care less what happened to them.
Wolf and Predalien battle finale was lame
It does seem a Logical Shoe-Horned Plot considering the Direction for David being the Creator....
The Funny thing is when Prometheus was in advanced Edit Stage and so when the Trailers Dropped... it got me thinking that Weyland would Upload himself to David but then he would get Face Hugged and lead to the Xenomorph Origins...
Or That David would Rebel against Weyland/Humans and be Upgraded or Upgrade himself with Engineer Tech/Secrets to become more Human.. well kind of the Pinocchio Plot
The reasons for this was the few shots of the Engineer standing over Dr Shaw and the King has his Reign Parts where we briefly see the Sacrificial Engineer. The Reason for this mistake by me was ASSUMING the Engineers would be Tall, and in the Dr Shaw/Engineer Trailer Scene.

This shot the Engineer does not look even as tall as Ian Whyte (7ft 1") and looked more like just over 6ft... so i ASSUMED this was a Upgraded/Evolved David... maybe with Weylands Soul.
But Alas.... after latter Trailers and Screens i determined this was not the case... Especially after the One International Trailer briefly showed a Shot of the Engineer and the Chair and we could see a Blonde Head which i SAFELY assumed was David...
But again after the WALTER Viral Videos i could not help but think they are going the route that he is not a Traditional Synthetic... Ridley Scott said prior to Alien Covenant that Fassbender would return as David and a Doppelganger surely this was odd if he was playing TWO.. David Robots... so the Doppelganger i felt had to be different, and we discussed this a long while back.... where i thought it had to be either the Likeness of David as in a Person who worked with Weyland on developing David... but then surely this Person would be OLD as the David Models in the Prometheus Time-Line began in 2025 when Weyland was 35 years old.... and it would be too much Coincidence if it was a Relative of someone who looked like Fassbender.
So this lead me to ASSUME the Doppelganger could be a Newer David Model that was different, and i thought they would Re-Use the Synthetic-Construct Plot from the Prometheus Fire and Stone Comics
And they would NOW use the Doppelganger as the Source of the Xenomorph Bio-Mechanics
Right Now... i feel this MAY have been the route they was taking...
I explored this with my ideas but had it as a Female Synthetic Construct that David would FALL for as his Queen as in this Synthetic would Agree to Davids Agenda and so they would be King/Queen as in a Monarchy... But the Engineers/Their Creators... Double Cross David and use his Queen to become the First Xenomorph Pseudo Queen.
The Aim to Portray David in a more Sympathetic Redeemable role.. and Portray Mankind as Disruptive and Wicked... Hence The GREAT FLOOD the Plot would have set up David setting some Ground Rules like the 10 Commandments and have the Colonist start to Follow his Guidance as they looked to ESCAPE the Rotting Paradise of EARTH and Start a Fresh New Life, where many of them had similar Religious Outlook to Oram.
David (posing as WALTER) would be seen as a Savior and Saint, he Frames Tennessee as a Saboteur/Terrorist along with some of the other Crew like Daniels... as they both get Framed for the Loss of the other Colonist...
But David keeps Daniels in a Secret Cave only Accessed by a Underground River... behind a Water-Fall. Where its revealed he uses her for his Xenomorphs... but he only intends them as a Punishment for those Humans who prove to be Sinful...
BigDave I did not know about the Walter-Morph post but it is so bloody obvious that there it goes and this is very bad, IMHO.
I think having David as the Space Jockey would be lame too, it would further make the Alien Franchise less ALIEN and then we have the Size Difference too but then we maybe have to accept our 7ft odd Engineers are the Space Jockey Race so whats losing a extra Foot :(
Rildey Scott had implied the Xenomorph in Alien Covenant is not quite there YET, and earler than that they was doing the sequel to Prometheus so that we would discover Who, Why would make such a Weapon and it Felt Bio-Mechanical and Alien Covenant would START to answer those.
Cris did a Topic on here about some Rumor that the Xenomorph DNA is linked to Synthetic David and so a Synthetic provides the Bio-Mechanical Aesthetic. This TOPIC which then covered the Walter-Morph was ASKED to be taken DOWN by FOX
Even though Alien Covenant did not show us any such thing, so maybe a Synthetic was in Ridley Scott's/FOX's plans for how to Evolve the Xenomorph in Alien Covenant to the one in ALIEN
After-all some of Walters Construction appears to be Part Organic.
If David Eventually Uploads his SOUL into a Walter Body and the Walter Models are Part Organic just as Elden was in the Fire and Stone Comics (Synthetic Construct) then YES this is a Shoe-horn way to have David Fall Foul to his own Creation and lead to the Bio-Mechanical Xenomorph.
To be honest THIS is the route i was taking with my Alien Covenant Sequels, where David meets a Female Synthetic Construct who then David Persuades to see his way, but SHE ends up becoming the Origin of the Bio-Mechanical Xenomorph at the Hands of the Engineers or their Creators... so David seeks Revenge.
I simply figured David sent the transmission and was always somehow monitoring for some kind of response. I think as BD pointed out, that this may not have been his first rodeo since he came onto the scene with flares. After all, it seems one of the neomorphs got away in AC and was never accounted for?
I think we were supposed to just believe that David was expecting guests and was pretty much prepared.
Great Work ;)
Sadly my Photo Editing Skills are well see for yourself...

I know that may offend some, so i apologize in Advance.
R.I.P Verne truly missed little Fella with a Larger than Life Personality.
Very nice memes! I have nothing original to offer, but there is this:

It seems Call was always on in AR. Her true identity was unknown to the crew at first as well- sort of like Ash.
It appears for a lot of missions a Synthetic was the Norm...
But the back ground for Prometheus does indicate that Problems Arose with Behavior of Synthetics so that People had Concerns about the AI.
Walter Models came out as a Improvement to the Potentially Sentient Flaws in the David Models with more Restrictions.
Ash was sent in as a Secret Operative, and the Reason for this is maybe because the COMPANY can Program a Android with a Mission and they would CARRY IT OUT to Completion. A Human Operative has the potential to be Swayed against this Mission if they realize the Jeopardy/Risk to the Crew.
Another thing is the Prequels show us the Company would have been some what aware of the Organism, and so that a Synthetic would be able to Handle the Organism with less Risk than a Human which the Organism would use as a HOST.
You both raise very Solid Points.
ASH was on a Secret Mission and had to keep his True identity as a Synthetic Secret.
David and Walter would have had Tasks to do during the Journey.
Bishop is the Interesting One and while he can Enter Some kind of Sleep Mode, would he need to be in Cryo-Sleep to do so?
We cant rule out Bishop would have awoken between to attend to duties but we can SAFELY assume the Ship is so Advanced and Automated that this is not required and the Journey was Short.
So Bishop in Cryo-Sleep was just a Plot Convenience to have it that Ripley would not be AWARE he was a Synthetic until he CUT himself with the Knife.
"Were there Morph from the days of the bombardment? Or was he carrying the gun for nostalgia we he had to defend against stuff? And wasn't the whole idea that he could control the Morphs?"
This was something i was about to mention in my next post before i noticed you beat me too it...
The walking around with the Flair Gun for Defense, would mean MAYBE Morphs from Before Could be around, we have to ask what was the effect on LIFE on the Planet and How Many Organisms where on the Planet Prior... but doing so would be going down a unnecessary RABBIT HOLE
And then we have to ask... Could David Control them? David was not Afraid of the Neomorph and he surely had seen them or similar many times before... He Would have LIKELY found out they was afraid of FIRE
So the only reason he would Carry the Gun was just in case ANY Morphs may be around and as a Just in Case Protection, but it appeared there was NO Morphs when the Crew Arrived and maybe David would not need it for his Protection.
I was about to mention those points you raised as i also think David just carrying the Flair Gun around on a Day to Day Basis is maybe a bit odd...
I was working on the MAP Diagram while you must have posted those GOOD Points... and so my only Explanation would be David witnessed the Ships Arrival or he saw the Crew leaving the Lander and then he HEADED to where ever he had the Flair Gun Kept.
But it is as you pointed out before... Purely a Plot Convenience/Point
" it may have been the explosion that drew his attention and being an android"
Although a Movie Run Time does not show how long a Actual Event would have taken, i find it unlikely David would have noticed the Explosion from the City, and if he did, then be able to arrive within the Time-Frame after the Explosion to his arrival.

Assuming this MAP is Accurate.
The RED Circle has to be the Area of the Neomorph Attacks they have to fall in or around this area. The GREEN Line would be the Distance in a Straight Line from the Crashed Juggernaught to the Lander.
The Explosion happened once the Crew had arrived close to the Lander.
David would have to had had noticed the Lander Coming in and then Quickly Ran to get the Flair Gun and then Run to the area prior to the Lander.
Or he would have had to have been out and about with the Flair Gun and either been close to the Neomorph Attack then witnessed the Explosion (Area in BLUE or about) or he would have either been IN/Around the Mountain Ranges within the YELLOW area with the Flair Gun when he noticed the Crew Heading Half Way towards the JUGGERNAUGHT or he would have had to be in these Mountain Ranges in YELLOW and seen the Crew Walking around the Area of the NEOMORPH attack and then Ran Back to get the Flair Gun.
@BigDave sorry but to defend against what, as the whole animal life of P4 was wiped out? Were there Morph from the days of the bombardment? Or was he carrying the gun for nostalgia we he had to defend against stuff? And wasn't the whole idea that he could control the Morphs?
Of course he knew about the crew and it's exact position but how it's just plot-hole (or he did not know exactly and he wondered around and by chance arrived on time). Even Prospero from The Tempest (with whom David is frequently compared on the Utubz) divines the location of his brothers ship.
How did RS get a free pass on Blade Runner 2049 on plot holes? I could formulate myself an answer but why don't modern writers care a lot more about the integrity of their plot's?
"The short answer is it does not matter it is only a plot convenience. "
Exactly and this has been the case with many things with the Prequels so far, they dont think out explanation because they feel they are not needed as they are merely Plot Convenience.
Trying to explain it, i guess we cant be 100% sure if David could Monitor incoming Ships from some place in the City, we cant say for sure if this is possible or not.... The Engineers maybe could Monitor their Own Ships, but as far as other ships... this depends on IF the Engineers are aware of how Advanced other Civilizations are in the Galaxy for Thousands of years, or if they have no Concerns. We have the Conspiracy that David set up the Whole Neutrino Burst Trap... but i think thats a Rabit Hole we best avoid lol
We can go by a few things we KNOW for certain...
The Neomorph Gestation and Births appear to happen quite fast and there is a bit of a Walk from the Covenant Lander to the Cathedral Dome and the best CLUE is Hallet's Mouth Burster as he gestated this Neomorph for as long as it took the Crew (not at full speed due to ill Crew Member) to get from the Juggernaught to the area just SHORT of the Lander. Plus we have to Factor what a additional 10-15 Minutes from when they Entered the Juggernaught (Hallet gets infected) until they leave the Juggernaught to head back to the Lander.
There is NO WAY David could have Witnessed the Explosion from the Cathedral and so he must have been Wondering within a 15-20 Min Walk away from where the Lander was with by COINCIDENCE the Flair Gun and so either David was Aware Some How of the Crews Arrival and the Potential they would be Infected... or David was on a routine WALK and always took the Flair Gun with him for Protection.
Regarding the Aesthetic and the Resin, going back to ALIEN we could see the Derelict and Xenomorph shared a Aesthetic, we latter see in ALIENS the Hive Shares a Aesthetic with the Derelict too.
It appeared there HAD to be some connection.... which the Prequels Failed to really do much justice due to the difference in Aesthetics used in the Juggernaught.
The Resin/Construction of some parts of the Derelict and Xenomorph Hives was always interesting, and the Secret Resin Explanation was always a bit FLAWED unless they Secret this SUBSTANCE that actually Grows like some kind of Bio-Mechanical Plant/Weed. Because if we Assume they Secret a Resign this would surely be like what.. Liquid Silicone before its Cured?
Do the Xenomorphs then use this to create/carve the Structures like we would maybe with Plaster/Silicone but we use MOLDS to make different shapes.
I suppose we could assume they are constructed like Bees and Wasps make their Hives? Worker Bees Produce a Wax which they Chew and then they are able to MOLD this Wax to Produce the Comb Shape of their Hives. The Xenomorph Hives look much more complicated and some of the Structures look nothing like something that could be Produced in the way say a Bee Does....
So the only Explanation would be the Resin is maybe Secreted and Molded by the Xenomorphs where this Substance then Grows like some Bio-Mechanical kind of Vine/Fungi.
The Aesthetic of the Engineers Bio-Mechanical looking Suits is also connected to the Xenomorph to a degree Aesthetic wise, its maybe likely the Engineers either encountered a Organism and Re-Engineered it to be able to use its Atheistic to create those Bio-Mechanical Suits and their Ships.... or some Race/Ship had this connection that the Engineers Reverse Engineered.
I think the Comics and Books are a interesting Read for Fans, i am not so convinced on them as Canon due to Errors in Continuity, but then Alien Covenant seems to not stick to a Coherent plan regarding Prometheus and the Franchise either.
I think the Biggest Problem i have with Books/Comics is they show that the Company/Humans have had previous contact before the Franchise and/or that their are remnants on LV-223 way after the events of ALIEN
Which Raise Questions like SURELY the Company must have known much more than Alien/Aliens let on and... WHY has the company never been back (WELL at least) WHY do they pursue the Xenomorph on LV-426 when LV-223 is not considered a better option to obtain Biological Weapons and Technology of the Engineers.
