I agree with Juxtapose. And some days or maybe weeks before Prometheus premiere in my country I think I'll stop coming here and reading everything just that I couldn't get any spoilers. : D This is going to be hard thing for me, I guess. Because I'm very curious about everything.

....don't u dare...lol....I suppose if u feed us some red herrings we will still get a nice surprise....as long as those red herrings does not surpass the real plot!

Dude, it's the internet.
Spoiler alert, lol. If you dont want it to be spoiled, try to avoid the net. I dont think anyone on here will spoil it for you, but there are others on lesser groups who would just love to. and for Ridley's sakes man, dont go on wiki!!!

Or on IMDb. That place is full of trolls and idiots.
ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
Yes Ruth, I forgot about IMDB. It's like with new episodes of Doctor Who here in the UK, the press cant ait to pound into it and thrust it right into your face and spoil it for you. Thank Ridley for places like Den of Geek who warn you and do spoiler free reviews etc.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
BTW...the 30 may ..i will write a review ...without spoilers ...with what i think in general of the movie ...
just that !!

ReplyBellaisanAlienPrometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
I think I'll be camped outside of the theatre so won't see any spoilers before the film is released in the UK and will still be in the theatre watching it multiple times before it is released in the US :)
ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
Juxty, in some of the alien spin off novels there is a substance the xenos use to form a queen, like bee's 'royal jelly', it was even called that, I think. Some scientist and pharmacists, and later black market dealers, began selling it to the general population as a drug, those who became quickly and uncontrollably addicted to it said they could hear the aliens's making music(sort of the hive mind conversing lol, not literately playing guitars). they became convinced the alien was misunderstood and should be worshipped. etc.
lol
they used a lot of KY jelly to formulate the alien saliva, lol
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
....i will never look at ky jelly the same way again....thanks to u PO2....lol
ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
I think James Camern said that when he and Gale Hurd were purchasing huge quantities of it for the film they got some very funny looks and comments with regards their sex life lol!
Have you seen Gale Hurd? lol
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
recently they have been using ky jelly and super slime for the aliens drooling effect
ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
since the second movie, I think. thats why I mentioned the Cameron thing. it's on the directors commentary. I went off Cameron's work after titanic, lol.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
recently they have been using ky jelly and super slime for the aliens drooling effect
------------------
It started with Alien 33 years ago when they had 2 film crew members follow "Mr. B.A. Xenomorph around with a bucket of "KY" for hours at a time!!!
They would even apply it while each take was "Rolling" !
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
I don't mind Cameron at all...think his got a more impressive filmography than ridley....but now I am gonna get stoned for sure ..lol...tho having said that...I think Ridley is more experimental...more on the edge....Cameron is more of a crowd pleaser...while Ridley is a bit of a loose cannon....in the end i have equal respect for both their work!
ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumDo not spoil Prometheus!Jan 22, 2012
Edited;
take it easy. you're gonna have things spoiled for you. if you can't handle that, don't visit these venues until you've seen the film.

one word - reliability...
what if they malfunctioned, think of how many probes to mars have failed/crashed
ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumWhy the human element?Jan 22, 2012
you are spot on, however humans, and our emotional 'nonsense' are hardly the most reliable of creatures either, lol.
I mean what if Vickers fell in love with a guy back on Earth, such as Spartacus, through some long lost sub space transmission(it could happen) and decided she didn't want to bring anything so inherently destructive back to Earth to protect her man?
Weyland would be then up xeno creek without a paddle, lol
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumWhy the human element?Jan 22, 2012
then they would just have to kidnap sparky and threaten to pull out his nasal hairs with a spoon to force her to do their bidding
ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumWhy the human element?Jan 22, 2012
they'd have to use a TARDIS in order to do that, lol
Still, I bet Sparky wouldn't mind a little discomfort for his beloved, lolol
Replycentaurian_slugPrometheus ForumWhy the human element?Jan 22, 2012
Why?
because it's a story FOR humans to buy, it must have some humans in it to appeal to humans :)
in alien the android is the company agent, in aliens it's burke,
in this it's Vickers ?
also even though 'the company' is big,all powerful etc remember it will have it's own power structure, rivalry, internal politics.. it won't be a single coherent object.

@ centaurian slug
A movie, book, or any story does not need humans to be appealing.
ReplyGreatBoosUpPrometheus ForumWhy the human element?Jan 22, 2012
If my company went to look for the origins of humanity, I'd be damn sure to send at least one human to take the credit. Sending only androids in to deep space on a long, potentially dangerous journey makes practical sense. But I'd want at least one representative of mankind to participate and share in the glory of whatever was discovered.
Replycentaurian_slugPrometheus ForumWhy the human element?Jan 22, 2012
@RSAND,
Thankyou, yes, a film without characters makes very little sense.
and if they were just company drones, there would be no drama,
So, yes, that is why we have the company sending humans..
- IT WOULD BE A SHIT FILM OTHERWISE
:)
ReplySpriggsPrometheus ForumWhy the human element?Jan 22, 2012
I was speaking in general. Stories do not need humans to have drama. Other races are perfectly capable of that. This universe in particular, the Alien universe, does need humans in the movies, or else there would not be much to it.
ReplyhumanityFTWPrometheus ForumWhy the human element?Jan 22, 2012
there are many reasons for having humans, like people have said and some not to, but i think that they have humans (in addition to all others mentioned) is that they serve as embasadors, ok yes you could have androids do it, but they don't really make good embasador material. (this is just a brief explanation, there can be other explanations to this)
Replycentaurian_slugPrometheus ForumWhy the human element?Jan 22, 2012
ok you can have films where you anthropomorphize animals, machines, aliens to make drama (instead of having realistic ones.. which would make for crap films)
but this film is about body horror and sci-fi human origins ... and an alien civilization contrasting with human civilization.. it needs humans for us to feel for.
ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumWhy the human element?Jan 22, 2012
isn't it obvious? why do we still use human labor when machines can do just as well?
first-money. we have no understanding of how expensive these androids are, in actuality. they may be custom built for space exploration and in limited supply.
second-specialization. an android isn't perfect. some things require a human's touch, despite the inherent flaws.
third-expendability. borrowing a theme from blade runner, human life may become just as expendable as a droid, especially to the corporations.
ReplyPerfectOrganism2Prometheus ForumKane - We must go on.......Jan 22, 2012
Interesting point. I always wondered why Kane was so adamant to get there at all costs, and why he wanted to go caving down into what was obviously a less than savoury place. Perhaps he was the most susceptible to left over Jockey mind control tech. Remember how he just couldn't wait to get his hands on the 'leathery objects'? And then after he awoke and the hugger had perished, all he could remember was some horrible dream about smothering. Maybe the God's, for malicious reasons, gave him a mind wipe too.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumKane - We must go on.......Jan 22, 2012
Bella
sweet idea, but IMO there's just No way, you are complicating things...he also, aboard the Nostromo, long before that scene, immediately volunteered to be in the first group to go out, it's in his nature...he's a true lover of the adventure of Space!!!
ReplyJuxtaposePrometheus ForumKane - We must go on.......Jan 22, 2012
ooooh....that gives me gooseflesh...they lured him in....never thought of it like that before!
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumKane - We must go on.......Jan 22, 2012
could be, works well in the fear games, a character being lured by some unknown force
