With no chest bursters we won't be dealing with an infected situarion (eggs). So, the leaked(?) outline makes sense.
Artifacts & coordinates discovered.
Travel to meet our makers.
Wear out our welcome by stealing teraforming source code.
Humans are attacked, escape but are pursued.
Wouldn't it be inteesting if the pursuit ship is the derelict ship, fron Alien, filled with pods for earth, the Space jockey's ungratful children's home. If we really did escape, where is the source code? Area 51 I guess.

They did mention the new creatures would have a sexual characteristic. Perhaps the method of infection is more akin to the AVP2 method where the embryos were implanted via a massive face hug from the Predalien itself. It should be very interesting to see, and I personally can't wait for the new shift.
So long as the stick to the creature I grew up fearing in principle, I'm hoping it will be an improvement. If it looks ridiculous, then it won't be a horror movie but an action one. Either way I'll be pleased, but I'm really hoping to capture that sense of fear I got from Alien and Alien 3 (Aliens was an action movie).
Stealthy, cruel, cunning, cold and calculated. No more cannon fodder alien swarms please. I want to see them using their greatest advantages, darkness and fear, against people and the other race. Something that brings the horror back into this series.

Hey guys that plot isn't the actual plot, a Fox Rep shot it down. From watching the interview what I took away from it was the focus of the movie won't be about the Alien, it will be about the Space Jockey and how the Aliens fit into the "Alien Universe" through the derelict and hopefully the "who, what, when, where, and why" behind the Aliens.

I hope they don't just go Queen scale with these aliens either. The pilot was pretty huge, and if that's what the MALE'S grow to, I'd like to see the new Queen. Better yet, I'd like to see what the pathetic humans with pop-guns are going to do to a 40 foot walking terror.
I think my scale is about right. The regular xenomorphs are about human sized at approximately 6 feet (standing), some bigger, some slightly smaller. The queen is roughly 15 feet tall. That gives a good solid 2.5:1 ratio in sizes. If the pilot in Alien is an indication, the new basic male creatures should be roughly the same as a Queen. Which puts the Queen at a healthy 35 - 40 feet tall. Which is like fighting a house. I'd love to see that. I just don't want to see super slow attacks by something so massive (Like the end of AVP). Just because it's big, doesn't mean it's not lightning fast. Anybody who's seen a 20 foot alligator or shark hit something knows size does not mean slow.

I created an account just to respond to you Praetorian. I really like where you went with the analogies to Prometheus. To that end:
"When life evolved it started with war. Every predator has prey, and every prey is a predator. When mankind tipped the scales of balance through technology and science, life found a way. On a planet inhabited by an advanced race of [insert new race name here], a new evolution balanced the scales. An evolution, born of terror."

In space... fear has taken on new form
In space... life comes with it's own price
In space... it has awakened

ReplyReaperPrometheus ForumWill Charlize Theron's beauty be subverted?Jun 30, 2011
I guess it depends on your definition of supermodels. I thought Vasquez was pretty hot, but I'm military and chicks like that always push my buttons. Charlize is going to be fantastic regardless of what role she plays. To be honest though, I'm tired of seeing the female always come out on top in the alien series. For once, I'd like to see the eye candy bite the dust creatively. Something unexpected, unforeseen, and unavoidable.
Weaver was terrific as the lead role in the alien series because while not as attractive, she's got a skeletal structure to her face that screams, "Don't $%^$ with me!" She has that presence that commands leadership, and yet has a look about her that seems to drip innocence... occasionally. Usually she's a hard ass, and personally, I love every second of it. As disappointing as the newborn was in Resurrection, Weaver's role in that movie was over the top. I loved both the sinister aspect they gave the aliens (although the aliens in general were virtually useless in that movie. Seriously, watch it again, they do next to nothing), and the good mix of comedy/bad ass attitude that made you grin in anticipation of somebody pissing her off. Ultimately, I'd like to see all of the humans get taken out in Prometheus.
The reason I bring that up is because of the completely disappointing AVP movies. You're going to tell me in conflicts where dozens of people fighting off just SINGLE CREATURES (alien or predator) get mauled and destroyed, that one person is going to survive combat against not just an alien swarm, but a group of bloodthirsty predator's as well? Ugh.......
Basically what I'm punching at is that no matter who they cast or how well they play, if they can avoid the law of inverse ninja, I'll be very, very happy.
Note: For those who don't know, law of inverse ninja states: As the number of ninja go up, the effectiveness of ninja go down.
This is the alien series in a nutshell. One alien, huge problem. 300 aliens, much, much less effective. Sure plenty of people were killed, but in the end 3 people survived, and half a robot. And one of those people was a kid. Really?
1 predator, huge problem. 3 Predators? Didn't even get attacked by people and 2 died to a single alien, the same alien in fact. For those who know the lore behind Predator's, that's like getting a headshot on 53 zombies with one bullet. That you threw. With your bad arm. That was shot. Twice.
Seriously?
But then again the new Predators movie brought it all back again. All of the predators were vicious and either died WHILE killing somebody, or died because of injuries sustained while fighting off another predator making them weaker.
So I'll have trouble believing a much larger alien race is going to be easily pushed over by humans. One queen is so much to handle that they've NEVER killed one in the movies in combat. And no, I don't count Resurrection. That stupid newborn could rip Queen's face off and yet couldn't rip Winona into tiny little pieces? Really? Not even when we were all hoping it would? Why Ridley? Why didn't you direct the sequels so they wouldn't suck?
Anyways, I'm way off tangent. I think CT will kick ass, or get diced in seconds upon the first encounter. Either way, it'll be awesome.

It's very possible that there is no xenomorph home world. It might be fun to see a xenomorph roundup, but thats not necessary. They begin in pods. We're talking about creation in a labratory here. The xenomorph is a creation of "man". Prometheus, in mythology, stole fire "intellegence" from Zeus and gave it to human kind so they could be more like the gods. A Xenomorph is a very good analogy to the misuse of a gift or of power.

I am looking forward to it. I am a huge ALIEN fan as well as AvP and Predator, I collect all things ALIEN/Predator and have a nice collection of items too.
As for PROMETHEUS, I have hopes that Scott will salvage the franchise and open a new door for future films (like Abrams did with Star Trek), since A3 and AR were a travesty to the story line. AR did attempt to save the franchise and the saga could carry on. Since A3 killed Hicks and Neut (Who should not have been killed, they were suppose to live and Ripley could have dies or lived), AR could have replaced them with Johner and Call, which would progress the story forward like it was intented to.

It's not important at all? It's already out there by Ridley himself. Paraphrasing; 1. The space jockey is either looking through a telescope or operating some kind of navigational device. 2. The alien is either a biological weapon or a planet cleaner as a first step to teraforming planets. So, space jockies, this movie is less about the alien and much more about the WHY!!!!! We already talk about teraforming Mars to make it inhabitable for us. That derelict ship in Alien 1 speaks volumnes abut it's purpose. Navigate from planet to planet to deposit self perpetuating pods which will eventually eliminate any life form that might be a threat to a take over. A ship accident occurs, blah blah blah! Aliens might have a timed life span. No Aliens in the derelict ship, only pods. So when the "people" of the targeted planet are extinct, the silent invaders return finding the planet cleaned. The above threads come from Ridley in interviews.
ReplyXenomorph426Prometheus ForumYour thoughts on the Prometheus AlienJun 25, 2011
If this is the evolution of the Xenomorph, It is most likely to me that that at least a couple of the primary characteristics will be immediate and since there is (should be) enough time between this film and ALIEN, there is time for it evolve into what we are familiar with.
But, then again, we do not know how far back Scott is taking the film. I guess I should not be surprised that Scott is not following any of the comic story lines for this film.
Another concept I was always thought should come to fruition is that the Predators are the ones who geneticly engineered the Xenomorph, just so they had the ultimate prey for their hunts. But it seems that the Space Jockies are the ones responsible or this could simply be the evolution of a species.
ReplyastromaxPrometheus ForumFacehugger and the EggJun 25, 2011
Invading targeted planets and fighting wars to clense those planets of it's indigenous life forms has proven to be costly, and tends to create unintended consequences. Here is a better way. Create a species in the laboratory that perpetuates itself. In that very act it destroys it's indigenous host. With some engineered triger that ends the xenomorph's life span, the silent invaders return to find a cleansed planet. This is what Prometheus is about.

Considering "Big aliens", I think there is possibility that this was kind of wordplay and that mean something else then alien-xenomorphic form...anyway, phrase "alien DNA" make me believe in explanation of xenomorph origin and that we will see original xenomorph form rather then classic humanoid form...but hey, that's my thoughts.
Maybe we will see another Hollywood adrenalin-rush movie with human-like aliens lurking around pour human crew members of some another space vessel.
Personally, I will be disappointed with that scenario...

Noomi is the bomb! I mean that in a good way. She is great in Tattoo. Check out the trailer online. It has the feel and production values of an excellant inde film. I've read the books and I have the 3 films on dvd. Tattoo, the first, is the best. A relative unknown even in Sweden, Noomi showed the quality of speaking volumns by saying and doing very little. Having read the books, she does not look the part. Rooney Mara, Hollywood's new Lisbeth, really looks the part. There are pics online.

You already know the answers to each of your questions. Think my dear!
Whats more provacative is the question; Where then did his trunk go? OK for real! It was an accidental impregnation so, as the creaters or just the transporters of a cargo bay full, he knew his fate thus the warning signal. Duh!

The strongest referrence regarding the aliens as looking like bugs and being bug-like is suggested through the reproductive cycle of the aliens. Which, I admit is pretty cool cause you can't go on a bug hunt without bugs. Also, remember they are the perfect organism so they can probably eat anything (except orange cats). I would like to present the possibility that when Bret turns into an egg on the released directors cut: is also the result of nano technology. I hope that they explore and stress this cybernetic element in the movie. I read that they had the idea of the eggs themselves moving around on tentacles from somewhere else in the ship. Like those giant vents on the sides. It might not be true, I am a space cadet and sometimes hallucinate (don't worry Neurion, I take my meds). If it is true, then where did they come from? Oh, not a Queen or Preditors 8@<8@+*#$! I like this idea of different forms of eggs, face huggers, aliens, dragons, bugs, kittens and venus fly traps; whether it is spontaneous creation or evolution through genetic manipulation coming from a bio-mechanized worlds/environments/habitats? The creatures in Avatar were creative but I would like to see creatures that are really alien! Like things from under the sea for example. Or not looking like anything we have ever seen before. Oh ya and some portals while being spliced in your space suit! It's all about Terror-Forming other worlds and not catching a bad case of space jockey.

I read this a few weeks back as well. I believe it was not "official" news, as FOX did not clarify on if it was and they never asked for the article to be taken down. Which suggests to me that it was not an official exclusive piece of news, but thanks for posting it up! Should create some good debate.
The post you re-posted here might be similar, if not linked to this article we posted here. I can't remember if they were the same article, but if not, they both suggested "spoiler" content which later turned out not to be true. FOX and Ridley Scott are doing their best to keep this film as secret and mysterious as possible, as not to exploit it before anybody gets to see it.

That article was very thought provoking but there is no way they would let out that much detailed information. Some how there is confusion between the engineer and the space jockey. It's a campaign of disinformation which is good cause you don't want to get too excited. Bliss in permanent mystery. I like that part about the cult following....wouldn't it be funny if the space jockey suit opened up and a predator came out. Just Kidding 8@

Anyways, back on topic... Your hypothesises regarding the Alien organism Ruhaniya are very interresting and "unique" as Neurion put it. I especially like your sentence:
"The creature is not a bug, or an infestation. It is a product of manufacturing life from life. Questioning the boundary of technological choas and order. Sanity and Madness!"
I like how you state that the Alien is not a "bug" or "infestation". For it to be ALIEN, it cannot have any "known" qualities or be classifiable. "manufacturing life from life" is a great way to describe the Alien itself, very well put.

Thanks for the peace Neurion, your avatar is more than an avatar it is art. It reminds me of the effect the alien slime had on Bret. But this is space jockey slime. Title :Hot Kiss from a Space Jockey Chick. I like that word belief cause it sounds weird and constitutes having certainty and conviction. Surely it takes being in hell to believe in hell. There are 2 hells, one is the physical hell which is the destruction of matter (Men and Stones) in a black hole. Hot as hell, but black cause of its density. The event horizon being the vibration of the angel blowing the trumpet. I wont tell you the second other than it is the farthest from the mercy of God. I wouldn't want to scare you. Those who go to heaven get to watch the people in hell on T.V. so....it's probably so scary you would have to be in Heaven to be able to watch it. Cheers

It may seem a bit radical, but i hope that the whole alien asthetic is changed, Ridley Scot said himself the alien "shape " is overused and old, i am hoping for a new shape some thing original and far out, and if Giger is indeed on board then this is the chance to revisit his creation and hopefully make something we will be talking about for years.
ReplyPrizemakerPrometheus ForumYour thoughts on the Prometheus AlienJun 20, 2011
I came across the post below, on another site. Going by what weve been told about the story behind Prometheus so far, I think its possible that there may well be some truth, to what this person has to say.
Warning- this post might contain some spoilers
I was speaking with a guy who is working on the set of prometheus and he showed me some pictures and told me a bout the storyline. The space jockey that you see in alien who has had his chest busted open is the guy who engineers the aliens. He sends the aliens to planet that he wants to take over. The aliens kill the locals and he flys in and pillages the land of its resources. It seems as though he is responsible for the aliens creation, i’m guessing that he is some kind of super scientist.
The engineer is played by some huge guy who is 8ft tall. He appears even bigger in the space jockey scene from Alien as he is wearing a space suit. He appears to have died in a seat that looks like it is some sort of weapon control, this is in fact the navigation system that the space ship uses to open worm holes and plot its course. Perhaps the aliens revolted and, knowing that he has been impregnated, he is desperately trying to return home to have the alien extricated?
He showed me some pictures from the set. There is a huge silver bust of the engineers head, it is approximately 15m high. It appears that the engineer is sort of leader of a civilisation and there is a cult around his personality and his alien creations, this is probably due to the fact that he has mastered the technology that continues to provide the resource requirements of his home world. I also saw a picture of the actor who plays the engineer in what appeared to be some sort of cryo-chamber.
Some of you might remember Ridley Scott describing how the space jockey is actually a bio mechanical suit, inside which, resides this smaller creature who is actually the real being. The last line, which I have underlined, is particularly interesting. I suspect that the picture this person saw, depicting the engineer inside a cryo chamber, may have actually been a shot of the engineers armor, suspended inside a cryo chamber.
Whether the above is true or not, is up to you to decide, but I hope that they dont explore the concept of the space jockey, and his society, to the point where there is no mystery left. I don`t particularly care for the idea that he was just one, of this entire species who is this famous engineer. I always envisaged him, as part of a race of God like beings. Part of a species, who are on a different level of awareness. so alien, and so advanced, their intentions and habits could only be partly understood by humans. A film which explored the concept of a species like that, being destroyed by their own bio mechanical creations, might make for an interesting tale, particularly when you factor in, a lesser species, like humans, who are dead set on getting their hands on that same technology.
One way or the other, I`m pretty sure that at its heart, that is the kind of film Prometheus will be!
If Prometheus manages to reproduce the same emotions you feel, when you see the space jockey for the first time, in the original film, and maintain those feelings, for at least an hour or so, or for however long the creature appears on the screen, then the movie will be a success!

i have a lot of respect for Ridley ( my top two movies are his!!) and as long as he keeps with the long camera shots, the luscious close ups i'm in. as for being in it? i would rather design a wee prop that is seen on screen being held by a main character. i would be happy with that!!.
