How about..: She is still alive and in the grave buried! Being kept alive with drugs...maybe a small light, small bit of air and water a waste tube............. David is just testing her resilience.
I remember a 70's movie..buried alive..or something...man that movie gave me nightmares even to this day.
Can't imagine her mental condition ....buried alive in a coffin for 10 years...hope she isn't claustrophobic!! Smothered and unable to move 24/7.
Maybe in a hundred years David will pop back to Planet 4 dig her up and ask how she is?
iraptus, u think maybe they might be kicking themselves thinking 'we should have probably held off and cast Theron as daniels'?
I think Theron was used solely for marketing. that has to be the only reason as the part was so badly thought out and executed for such a top notch actor as her. their thinking possibly along the lines of bring in a big name to attract viewers as so many fans had been dismayed at the change of course of the movie from direct alien prequel to what it became?
very hard to beat the original. the look and feel of the nostromo was bang on. the Prometheus and covenant, although stunning in design, are just too clean and sterile for me. I know their custom built for their purpose and r both brand new but I still prefer the used look in the alien franchise.
ali81 agreed, Charlize Theron and Idris Elba were criminally under-utilised in Prometheus sadly. For such great actors they should been kept on for future roles.
everyone else in alien. I know its more than 3 but they were all great and contributed equally imo so would be sacrilege to leave any of them out
david in Prometheus.

if im right then the different drawings of shaw were done by david himself and r not just concept art that never got into the film. this would definitely lead to the thought that there were multiple versions of shaw to experiment on and he may not have actually killed the original. even for a synthetic the actual process of creating a grave sight yet not burying the body seems a little out of place, as david himself is methodical in everything he does. the original shaw may be in the grave, unharmed by david and he experimented on clones?
I wouldn't bring her back though. for me its too late for her character to have any real impact now as I feel theyv missed that opportunity for the shaw character plus wev already had the 'resurrection' plot in AR. time to kill daniels now (hopefully) and move on
Vickers I think hated weyland but like most daughters, all she craved was his love and approval. he wanted a boy I think and was disappointed he got a girl, hence his open showings of limited affection he shows for david. weyland may well have seen putting Vickers in control in his absence may have brought about troubles for him to regain control on his return as id guess she would have positioned herself in strong favour with powerful board members while he was gone as this would be her chance to hurt him. this is where the Vickers character fails IMO. we could have seen so much more of the relationship between the 2.
I have always liked the theory of synthetics taking over the company and it kinda ties in with Resurrection and the way synthetics seem to be viewed by humans. it looks like there has been a war on earth by the looks of the area ripley and call land at so could the synthetics taking over WY have played a part in this possible war? we see they don't care much for human life in the alien franchise so its safe to assume that feeling would be extended to all human life back on earth. what other sinister schemes and experiments did they come up with on earth?
I'm sure Peter Weyland would trust a David model but a corporate board might not. I guess it is based on how much of the company Peter Weyland still owned in regards to having his demands met.
If it isn't a synthetic running the company while he sleeps on the way to LV-223, then I assume there is someone loyal to Peter Weyland still there at corporate. That might be optimistic because Meredith did not show loyalty to her father and she supposedly was next in line at Weyland Industries.
If synthetics exerted control ali81, I can't imagine a way the humans would gain it back with how integrated AI is in almost every task...especially transportation and communication. If David was able to convince Walter to go his way and forsake the Covenant crew then he might have luck with Mother. Mother certainly has no problem second placing the crew of Weyland vessels behind company interests.
Company interests may be synthetic interests.
I really hope Shaw will return in some way.
eggmorphing was Ridleys original plan for the alien so I tend to think, with the effects of some of the black go also showing morphing characteristics, that egg morphing may well be the route he goes down. wakening 2 colonists to be impregnated by the face huggers, then when there are 2 fully grown xenos, wake a few more to be egg morphed and so on. but this is time consuming and im guessing david would still be looking to improve on this process. perhaps the queen in aliens is actually going to become an evolved stage of davids creation and the xenos in the movie are actually the perfect organism he was striving for but never gets to see? one that starts out with egg morphing yet evolves a queen at a stage when the hive is strong enough to support and defend itself against threats.
this is really the only question left in the franchise to be answered other than the backstory between the engineers and the original xeno/ glack goo strain though I doubt wer going to get to see much of that, which sucks ASS
Shaw
David
Vickers
ingeniero, iv often thought, as many before have, that at some point, synthetics gain control of the company. just a theory but another side to the franchise that id like to see explored. as I mentioned in previous post, tying into this theory, possible another David was left in charge while weyland was on the Prometheus as weyland would have full faith in a David if his programming was the same as the David model on the Prometheus?
sackhoff would be an excellent choice for an alien film but I think shes more typecast as a tough chick straight off the bat so I don't think the daniels character would have been right for her. that character, much like ripley, isn't initially a tough nut but is meant to grow into that role as people around her get knocked off whereas with BG and Riddick, shes possibly played too many tougher characters for that role. if she hadn't played Vickers id have said Theron wouldv been a much better choice
*RIPLEY 8 kills the Alien and hands the tongue to Call*
Johner - (to call) Makes a hell of a necklace...
Katee Sackhoff perfect lead for the Alien Franchise!!!!!

Most probably she will end up like Jacob. I feel Waterston was miscast as Daniels, it's not her fault, she gave her best.
Yea definitely one of the best articles out there on A:C. Think he hit the nail on the head..
It is not Waterston's fault how bad her character turned out. Anyway, I don't think Daniels will be in the next film.
I really hope to see Elizabeth again. She was a such lovely character to me. There are a lot of opportunities, for example, she will be resurrected by Engineers, or she will come back as an android by Weyland Yutani.
I don't really know what it takes for egg morphing, how many of those can a single alien handle. There were two humans used for egg morphing in Alien but I don't know if that's the norm. So David does not consider egg morphing an option.
On the other hand I don't think egg morphing will be used again by Ridley Scott. Probably we won't see any of the alien life cycles again, I hope so.
So why did he bring the 2 little facehuggers?
Best characters are in Alien, Alien : Covenant and Alien3.
The most annoying ones are in Aliens, Prometheus and Alien Resurrection.
@Benlabs, I was also wondering myself who win. I hope this was not a prank or something. If someone was the winner, he/she would probably let us know.
Forgot to mention that the last Engineer from Prometheus also ripped David's head off easily before attacking Weyland and his men.
Also in Alien: River of pain, if I remember correctly, the colonists inside the derelict found corpses of the xenomorph queen and the Engineer that fought and killed the queen with his bare hands. Very interesting read.
Well, 2 facehuggers = 2 aliens. 1 alien can make "eggmorfing" with 2 humans (1 for egg, 1 for prey) and get +1 alien. Queen don't need.
Amazing works!!! There are artists with some fantastic imaginations out there!!
Favorite:
Shaw – I adore this character and I hate, how she was ruined in AC. She had this strange composition of vulnerability and dark aggressive energy. I think her intention to find the truth is very attractive.
Ripley – One of the most inspiring female character
David (in Prometheus) – I don’t like, how his character was represented in AC. This contradictory guy deserved more than just to be psycho robot.
Vasquez - Love this badass baby
Clemens – Pleasant man played by gorgeous Charles Dance
Vickers – I really like her, she reminds me Ripley in some way. But cold environment and difficult circumstances made her figure look bitchy.
Janek – Secret genius
Call – She’s just a cute nice android
Unlikable:
Newt – She just annoys me. I think her line with Ripley was absolutely unnecessary.
Holloway – He got what he deserved.
Burke – An archetype of greedy miserable person.
Daniels – Poorly developed mock on Ripley badly played by Waterston.
Cool stuff! thanks!
I hadn't thought of that ali81 but I do think you're right regarding Peter Weyland's surprise to see Meredith Vickers.
The Weyland-Yutani Report does cite that Vickers is heir to "Weyland-Yutani Corporation" but the merger didn't happen until 2099 and she died in late 2093. I assume the intent was clear (Vickers ascension) but the error was also.
The report also states that Meredith Vickers is Peter Weyland's only legitimate child. That does leave a lot of room for more Weyland progeny if she is singled out as "legitimate".
I do wonder who was left in control back at corporate.
Part of what I find so fascinating about the prequel films is their story of creation and, indeed, it parallels Frankenstein a lot. It fits as both tales are one of reaching for the stars but being burned by the sun for getting too close, forcing you to face the meaningless of it. This review is a good analysis of this.

Since it is an aggregate site, that is what the score calculates to. I was disappointed by the movie and many as well. So that is a decent score regardless. I know much better movies with lower scores.
I hope the mystery of SJ will never be explained
Who won the giveaway?
Ripley starts walking towards the bunch. Her the not not-dead-xenomorph grapple. The crew of the Betty raise their weapons at the pair
CALL - Shoot it! Shoot em both!
FantacularTV_1 you are no lesser director/writer than Cameron or Blomkamp. Fox have to see your short in case they have some doubts about Ridley Scott.

Please tell me this is not David wearing an engineer suit.

wow it must be so great to have a chance to visit the site and shoot a film for Fox. It's so legit. Happy for you and great work.
Thoughts_Dreams that's how I feel about Rotten Tomatoes and other good film critics.
Agree with many of you guys images
To me it was also the Space Jockey image/scene that really brings me to the Alien world. That scene was epic for me as a kid first watching the movie on a TV. It totally gave me a vision of how alien universe would be and it looked so authentic. I am so glad I got to experience that film as a kid. Alien is a classic hands down.
(sorry can't seem to find a way to DM somebody on here)
BigDave, might I ask who Sox is, in your signature? Were they your pet? So sorry... :(
