Jawas and a naughty toy?

Vickers had to be human. A synthetic would have understood physics and the concept of strafing.
Ingeniero - Please let me extend your article with these two altered versions of your stills. :)

I hope you like them. :)
Ati Ha- that is great! It makes me wonder what the elephant and giraffe are referencing. It is a very interesting and fun picture indeed.
dk - I have found another xenomorph, and a half-neomorph :), and an Engineer, too.

Ingeniero - I'd like to know who was Meredith' secret connection.
hox - I love Burns' works, that painting from him is one of my favourites from those decades, great picture quality, thank you for the link.
Others - I'm glad you like the images.
Johner- Fuck Vriess!
There are high concepts being explored already such as religion, humanity and creation. I did not pick up on an afterlife concept and think the franchise has enough to deal with. I hope they don't explore the afterlife- that could also be very polarizing for fans.
nice! We have these in Australia too, interestingly in a place called Fingal Head up near the Gold Coast....

Gorgeous work.
Artist Jim Burns did some great airbrush work of hot female pilots, around the time that Alien was released...
my thoughts were that the "Covenant" was a pact between David and WY. If Davids files were sent chronologically or as they were filmed. Then potentially WY may of been communicating with David for 10 years. Also David and Shaw prior to that.
Just a thought.
Could just as well be your ideas
I still think a few answers to the Engineers mythos and it would of got another 1/2 or even another point. That would put it in a very special place.
"The Noahic covenant[Gen 9:8-17] applies to all of humanity and to all other living creatures.[8]In this covenant, God promises never again to destroy all life on Earth by flood[9:11] and creates the rainbow as the sign of this "everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the Earth." (Wikipedia)
David destroyed every living creature of all flesh on planet 4 (the "meat" if you want) by the black flood, he is like a god. The rocket he fired to save the Covenant crew is like a rainbow. And I always thought of the Covenant ship with its cargo of colonists and embryos like a new Noah's ark for a dying species. Now David is supposed to protect the colonists and reign in peace in the new world of Origae 6. He took the facehugger embryos because they were the last living creatures of planet 4, like Noah took the lamb and the wolf on his ark.
David has only good intentions.
Interesting. David must like geology.
mild spoilers for bladerunner 2049
Neander Wallace refers to angels in his pyramid a few times, so is it likely Weylands mentor was Wallace rather than Tyrell? That would make more sense with the timeline
@ drucea -That is the story I am hoping we could see?
@trokanmariel - We have got to answer the Space Jockey question!
@ daliens - Oops, I have spent too many Sundays thinking of biblical references to Alien-Covenant during the sermons!! HAHA!!
It's Moses not Noah the one who received the 10 commandments and made the ark. Noah's ark is related to the flood.
I think the title "Covenant" is an allusion to David's future sacrifice; the next film will show David making a pact with the Engineers, and he'll give up his right to life so that equality can happen. In practice, this would mean that David becomes the Space Jockey
I think the drawings and notes come from his "artistic" or "malfunctioning" side. He does a lot that resembles what humans would do. Plus, he seems very intent on being recognized for his works and all that he is able to do. I think he has it in his mind that documenting all of this will "WOW" whoever ends up seeing it, if anyone does.
I like the sound of this comparison. Thanks for bringing it up. It could work that the Planet 4 beings were a result of not messing with the black goo/xenomorph anymore, then David comes in and destroys them all with the goo and creates even more xenomorphs. Whoever is higher up may be coming to put another end to the use of the black goo and xenomorph creations. Like "damnit, we just got Planet 4 straightened out, then this a-hole comes and starts it all over."
I told myself recently that we need to be mindful of the easter eggs and minute details found here. The story from Scott is confusing enough... With all the extra/background content we have, whoa. It's a jumble. I mean, I am all for the eternal speculation and attempt to make sense of it all (and have fun), but just have to remember that a lot of what we deal with here won't be acknowledged in the following film(s).
But yes, chli, your post seems to sum up what we were shown in Covenant pretty darn well. By the time David got to really working on the Neo-/Xenomorphs, he had no way of getting to Engineer DNA. He also had only so much that he could do with Shaw. From there, he had to result to insects and plants to try and complete his puzzle. I mean, I'll be damned though because he supposedly improved what the Engineers had done with the Xenomorph. He did it with almost none of the advantages that the Engineers might have had!
Hillard - What about Vriess?
@Ingeniero - I think the Alien 'Covenant' could be similar to the Ark of the Covenant. I am going to start another topic!
Double post!
Going back through David's drawings has me wondering who the notes (text) is for? He's a super computer! He would not need reminders (nor drawings for that matter). Logic mistake in the movie? Or was this a how-to guide he is making for someone that can read English? Maybe intended for Shaw in documenting a cure (if we find she is in fact infected but stabilized in cryostasis), or for the company? For the company wouldn't make sense though since he could upload what he knows.
Santa's dead?! My mummy said he was real... Oh man gonna be different this year....
Yes I have seen the new blade runner and it's quiet good... Doesn't have the extra specialness of the first one but still well done and in the same style just slightly updated. Looks like it's ready for sequels as well...
daliens I see your point. There are similarities. I just hope that the next film shows David offer to sacrifice himself to the Engineer race - or to the actual top of the hierarchy - so that the xenomorphs he created can become like the top of the hierarchy. The film could show David's xenomorphs being taught or changed by xenomorph-looking beings into becoming like them.
David becomes the Space Jockey, which is a ritual that David has to experience as part of the deal, and in return his xenomorphs get to evolve; it would be a great plot twist to the mythology, as people have always assumed that the Space Jockey was an accident, and an actual tragedy. Not only this, but if David is the Space Jockey as part of a ritual it would close the gap between Alien Awakening and the beginning of Prometheus.
The start of Prometheus showed an Engineer performing a ritual, so that life could exist; it makes sense for David to bookend the story, and emulate that Engineer
Hello there! I am newbie from Alabama and freelance writer at online dissertation help since 2 year .
Maybe it is their home world, but we can expect they establish colonies elsewhere, kind of Origae 6. As long as it is in their power to seed other worlds why should it be impossible that a habitable planet as Origae 6 was not meant as one of their colonies?
Great ideas IndyFront, I believe the pathogens ultimate form is the xeno. Remember the mural and remember what David was saying about the black goo: "evolutionary algorithm". You just have to have a bit of knowledge to get to the peak of existence, which is the xeno. We have Davids xeno and I'm sure if the Engineers were smart enough they would have produced their xeno as well..
I wonder why the resemblance between the shoulder - arm - hand of the bird like creature in the submissive posture from the Prometheus mural. Could it be some coincidence only?

Was the Deacon's solely purpose to link Prometheus with the Alien franchise? Or we can expect to see more of it in the future?
In case David cloned Shaw, which I seriously think it's a bad approach like the Alien Resurrection's cloning of Ripley, he might have done it solely for his experiments. He has enough 'good souls' now so he does not need a new clone. Shaw can only return in a movie that covers the time between Prometheus and Covenant, all other options suck.
All this reanimating the dead stuff is unnecessary and silly and I hope they don't go down this path.
I agree with chli that those sketches are the artists' fantasies rather than part of the actual story.
Too many cooks in the kitchen.
John Logan's script which will be very close to the one the actors were given pre production. ((Shaw completely out -Benjamin Rigby)
Your speculations about the babushka doll the next layer is exactly where I thought we were going "the Engineers are only a superior species so who made them"? IF the protagonist for Davids destruction is that next layer and you return the next film to a creation story about everything rather than the Xenomorph then tonally you return to Prometheus and ask the question "Why the F... didn't David and Shaw arrive on Paradise find out something about the Engineers and then hints of a hierarchy". Put simply wheres the narrative foot print ? Oh its David.
The original idea was to find the Xenomorph origins in the general creation story (Spaihts) not find the Xenomorphs origins in a mad robot. RS can now only go with Davids story and his destruction with everything else as texture.
I love all sorts of movies the last two were Hector and Sully but what i find interesting with the general tone of this discussion is it reminds me that I learn so much about things that are disappointing and why from things that work. If I think of Homeland or Person of Interest each show has a coherent tone a sense of knowing what they are. There were surprises and fresh insights but they are certain of their major pre occupations and "what they are". These films are like fragments which do not belong to each other being glued together to produce an incoherent body of work and to continue the analogy a monster (A L I E N S) looking on waiting in the wings to be switched on.
Likewise dk.
I am always amazed at how we can go way off the rails from the OP and still have fun!
These drawings and scribblings weren't shown in detail in the movie (they were meant to be viewed at a distance giving the picture of David studying and experimenting). I would say that experimenting on engineers, reviving dead engineers, reviving Shaw etc are the fantasies of the artists making them. The movie itself is more ambiguous when it comes to a lot of things.
We really are on the same page dk. Thank you dude.
A compare and contrast topic on Travis Bickle and David 8 may be in the works.
Bickle was meticulous in his planning and development of weapons, had lost his mind a little, and then unleashed himself on his enemy. He also fumbled with the ladies much like David 8 with Daniels.

One thing for sure, Travis was no android.
