I like the 3rd one best- it has the strongest Giger influence imo.

Great find Ati!

I too would love to see a higher race. a god though.

not another link in the chain.

The Elders in the white ship serve a higher power. i choose to believe that. That higher powe has been around since the dawn of time. It has a worker / creation and it is the Bird Faved creatures from the mural in Prometheus. The one in a submissive position. Now this creature had a hand in creating the first egg. Also the same blood runs through the veins of this creature as the higher power. This is the pure untouched Black Pathogen.

"Take this this is the blood of our lord...." - Original opening to Prometheus

The proto facehugger is disgustingly beautiful.

The last 2 armless aliens with long legs kinda reminded me of one of Giger's paintings.

Interesting stuff.

@PunishedEngineer - I can honestly say after seeing the Cathedral image many, many times that I have not even noticed the images you mention until now!  OH my, the cloaked Engineer on the left looks like the Virgin Mary holding a baby?  Both sides really resemble the work of Michelangelo?  Once again, I am compelled to reference the Roman Empire as the Earthly counterpart?  Great find!!

@Thoughts_Dreams - I like the idea of an Alpha race above the Engineers.  The Engineers of Plant 4 do appear to me to be a worshiping-class, so who do they worship?  Why were they cheering the arrival of a Juggernaught?  An Alpha, or 'superior' race, seems be the most logical reason?  As always, I am ready for more movies to expound upon the Engineers & their lore!

I don't go to the movie theater that often anyways so it will be between AC and Star Wars 8.

I like the second one the best, eventually because it doesn't have David in it.

They don't need to feature him in everything that is related to the movie.

She was OK in the movie but as with other characters we didn't get to know much about her. The characters were not as annoying in AC compared to Prometheus IMO.

Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Romulus 2 NewsFox trust Ridley Scott to break new ground with Alien: Covenant sequel!

Joylitt: It is nice to see that we agree about this (that it is important to get the Engineers right but what that means can really be discussed).

Michelle J: I haven't listened to the commentaries to Prometheus, I am too much of a casual fan to do that. Never the less it seems that it is an interesting way to move forward with this. As AC showed a Xeno and related monsters are not enough to make a good movie. My complaints about AC is a bit here and there on this forum so I won't repeat them here, or at least try to avoid that. Hopefully this reply will be a bit more constructive than it becomes when I discuss with someone that I very much disagree with.

I would like to see the Engineers creating things that they try to use to conquer other worlds but that  turn on them. This would be a lot more interesting than to see David's connection to the Xeno because:

1) AC made David less interesting, I like that he was more ambiguous in Prometheus
2) The SJ looks more like an Engineer and since there were alien eggs on the derelict it seems to me that the SJ and the Engineers are related and that both of them have ties to the Xeno.

The Engineers should be menacing as F (sorry about the swearing, that is just the way that I talk) and we should also get some explanations of why they do as they do something that Prometheus was lacking or at least the answers were too vague and could have been done better. I don't mind the Engineers as an idea but it lacked things in Prometheus, that is what I am trying to say. As you probably know I have issues with Shaw as a character in Prometheus. I wish that they would have done a better character and let that one survive so that one would be in AC that we could follow but it is what it is. Daniels wasn't  disaster of a character but she could have been done better but at least she wasn't as annoying as Shaw. Maybe Daniels will die, I am judging from what we saw at the end of AC. If they will get rid of Daniels they got to make a lead character that is better than her and Shaw someone that isn't as anonymous, that has clearer character traits and that is somewhat likable. This doesn't mean that we got to be given a Ripley clone, just someone that is likable and that feels like a human and not a archetype.

I wold like the Xenomorphs or Xeno DNA being closer linked to the Engineers and not David. I am fine with the explanation that David created is own version of the Xenomorph by using tools and DNA from the Engineers but I refuse to accept that David created the original monster.

MonsterZero: Getting the Engineers right is important but they also need better human characters. I like your idea that they get back and see their city in ruins. This could be interesting if they get it right. Just imagine an army of pissed off Engineers out for revenge!

Lawrence of Arabia:

“I think you misunderstand what these prequels are about. You don't have to agree but it's still a fact. Prometheus was David's film with Shaw as a co-lead like Daniels is with Covenant.”

That is crap if so and if so they got to change direction. Human characters are more important to me than AI. Nevertheless I feel that David got more attention in AC compared to Prometheus which was for the worse.

Hopefully this means that David just did a type of monster built on Engineer tech but that he wasn't involved in doing the original or the one that we see in Alien (1979).

Thanks Joylitt. They have done a lot of crap in the prequels and also in the AVP's and AR.

I would puke if it will be the case that David created the original Xeno.

Scott should stay away from the script. He has said some crap like David created the Xeno and the beast is cooked. Maybe he is a good director/visualist but he should stay away from the story writing.

Much of what is being said in this video makes a lot of sense.

Hopefully the Engineers will be back in the next movies more menacing compared to Prometheus and Alien Covenant. I wold much rater have well done Engineers than an AI story and no it isn't too late to save this mess that it is currently in.

Lawrence of Arabia: It is better to wait until we see how the movie is. To feel something about something that will happen in the future isn't very helpful because we won't know until we see the movie. Since both AC and Prometheus were subpar IMO I will continue to be very skeptical about it.

I hope that they won't F it up like they did with AC and Prometheus.

Big Dave: I wouldn't mind if they switch focus to something else than David. He is over-done at this point. The Engineers could be interesting but I don't want another Covenant (a movie focused on David). A new movie should focus on likable human characters, less on AI.

Egg-morphing seems more interesting than a queen, at least if you ask me. They have had a queen in many Alien movies now.

A Ripley connected movie would not be interesting but it isn't very good at this point either.

Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Covenant Forumbiggest worries and hopes about alien awakening and advice to ridley scott

What worries me is that we will get another AI-focused movie. Now the damage is done but they can at least try to reduce it. Some people might like the focus on David, I don't. Fassbender plays the role well but it should be about the human characters.

Prometheus was more balanced in that aspect and David wasn't as evil as in Alien Covenant. Alien Covenant was good until it became the David show. They can keep him but put him more in the background compared to Alien Covenant to give more room for interesting human characters.

It should be more about the humans and they should be better done compared to AC and Prometheus. More character development sure and I also like that you mention the Engineers but they need to be made better compared to Prometheus. Before Alien Covenant I imagined an Engineer city with military stuff, religious ceremonies, and so on. The small things with the Engineers was actually interesting in AC so I hope that we will see more of that. Hopefully they will make the Engineers menacing and not like everyday people.

Keep the character development in the movie, not in clips on the Internet. This goes for the main characters so I hope that it won't do the same mistake as they did with AC. When you get more character development in a clip on the www compared to the movie you know something is very wrong.

Daniels and Tennessee could be kept in the movie but they need to be better written compared to AC. Maybe they could add some stuff to their personalities to make them more interesting. I am not sure how that would be done, I am not a script writer.

Getting the general audience to watch it is probably what is the most important when it comes to getting money to Fox so we will get another one. A lot of people that like the alien movies might watch it but they might not be that many compared to the numbers of potential moviegoers in general. I don't have an answer to how this will be done but it is something to think about.

Big Dave: I would have preferred if David wouldn't have had anything to do with the Xeno. I am happy that Shaw was handled the way she was. She wasn't as bad in the Crossing compared to Prometheus though.

The Engineers could be interesting but it is a bit disappointing that they are humanoid. I wish that they would have been more different, like space aliens or at least not as human like but that could change if they get them right in the next movie.

". . .  but they can merely Change David as a Re-creator of the Xenomorph and have him Evolve something that actually ends up being less Xenomorph than evolving more Xenomorph."

I wouldn't mind that. They idea of the Xeno as a result of a mad android just makes me so disappointed. I agree with Joylitt when he says that they need to change the focus.

Joylitt: "Regarding the Engineers' culture, what if instead of leaving it shrouded in mystery you show it but making it so weird that is hard to comprehend..."

I think that it would make a lot of sense and it would also follow the idea of Giger in that it will be difficult to tell exactly what it is. We didn't know a lot about the SJ after we saw Alien or the Xeno for that matter.

true, it could just be for the audience. what we need to remember is though the folk on here get right into all the additional material, not everyone who has seen the movie has read the novelisation or seen the extra material so to them AC finishes with just the david-walter switcheroo and are unaware of any contact with the company. the more its talked about on here and the more material that is released, the end message where david is logging as walter seems completely pointless

Reply
SuperAlienAlien: Covenant ForumWas "The Covenant" a pact between David and WY prior to embarking?

David doesn't make demands but he hijacked a Weyland-Yutani property, the ship and he is into negotiations. Not sure what he would want at this point from Weyland-Yutani. His creations would rule the galaxy if Weyland-Yutani does something ("if you do this...") not specified in the Advent video. Probably not accepting his olive branch in exchange for the 2000 colonists.

Just now it came to me: what if David's message as Walter at the end of the film is for the wider audience, for the media as part of a cover up by Weyland-Yutani? In this case David might have agreed with Weyland-Yutani on something. But it does not necessarily imply he was working for Weyland-Yutani since he was on LV-426. Just part of their fresh agreement, his olive branch.

don't get me wrong, I like the idea. it adds something and would tie in with the company as iv always wanted to see a bit more of the WY companies behind the scenes shenanigans and whether or not there is indeed a synthetic influence at the highest levels of the company. It just feels to me that narration in the olive branch message is complete and not edited. I believe david has catalogued everything with the intention of approaching the company but the first contact is after he has acquired the covenant.

I may be wrong but didn't the message seem a little off? he starts out by saying I offer you an olive branch, which seems to me like he is looking to work with the company and trade. but I don't remember him making any demands or any hint at what he is looking for in return, which one would probably do in this instance. yet david just basically tells the company, my creations will rule this galaxy. so hes saying I come to u to make peace but ur all going to die.... not much of an olive branch is it haha

sherrisAlien: Covenant ForumWas "The Covenant" a pact between David and WY prior to embarking?

Covenant is not just the name of the ship.

There has to be more.

Since seeing the transmissions sent in "Advent" they could of easily been sent not as one file, but several small files detailing progress, nuggets if you like. This shows Davids evidence for WY to see. If it was sent over years, perhaps WY sent back the mapping for Covenants flight path so David has assurities he is getting what he wants. WY plan on sending Colonial Marines incase of double cross and David has his own things going on. This would sit with RS quote of the 3 or 4 different players to visit the "planet"

Seems like it ticks most of the boxes to be plausible. even if not 100% correct. we are no where near that point yet but i think we on the right tracks guys !!

Thanks for the input its awesome !!  ;);););) As always !!

But is it not obvious from the fact that this xeno is less of a robot (without the tubes and such) that a synth will merge somehow with the "beast". The perfect candidate is David himself. Do we need to see this? No, because it is predictable and unoriginal.

So what he does to Daniels it is whatever.

ali81Alien: Covenant Forumbiggest worries and hopes about alien awakening and advice to ridley scott

I think we need to see what david does especially with daniels to tie into the next stage of the xeno evolution. its obvious ridley is going with the 'david created the type of xeno we see in alien' path (which I hate with a passion) and given that the xeno in AC is not the same, there has to be something that david does to create the next form of xeno so I think we need the holes filled in. we didn't get any concrete answers in AC as to what he did to shaw and I don't see them being able to just skip the process a second time.

Reply
ignorantGuyAlien: Covenant Forumbiggest worries and hopes about alien awakening and advice to ridley scott

I for one if Daniels and Tennessee will be back, I'll straight out skip the movie without a second doubt (even now I am very skeptical of what story is left to be told in the prequel series). I am in the minority that don't want to see her/them being experimented upon.

id agree about not killing daniels off between movies like they did with shaw but I say this only so we can see how she is going to be used in davids experiments. for me she cannot live for both the good of the story and the fact that her character sucked. the character was just awful imo and ended up just being another member of the crew as far as I was concerned. shaw had more direct connection to the prequel storyline.

my advice to RS would simply be to give the engineers a real meaty in depth backstory and to not show them in the same weak and easily dispatched species they have been portrayed as so far. iv pretty much given up on the rest of the film so all I want is for the engineers to be able to play their part and be given a respectful place in the movie.

I very much doubt that david and the company have had any contact since the Prometheus mission. I also don't believe the company hold any kind of authority over him either. he was built to serve weyland, no one else. with is death, as he states in Prometheus, he will be free. it is also pretty obvious with the olive branch message that no contact or pact has been opened between david and the company as why would david send an olive branch message if there was already an agreement in place? doesn't make sense. plus the message was sent after david acquired the covenant and had left the planet. im betting even when weyland was alive david was not contacting or reporting to the company as he had no need to as the owner was on board. if the incident that caused the covenant to alter course was in fact davids doing then im betting it was just his escape plan and taking into account he wont die, he has plenty of time to wait for any passing ship, manmade or even alien.
