Then its not ALIEN, it would be like watching a Godzilla movie without Godzilla
Xenotaris
“The threat should be the xenomorphs, nothing else.”
You can have more than that, expand it. Star Wars can, Star Trek has different things, and so on. Star Wars fans seem OK with new things, at least many of them. Why not try new things in the alien-verse? Having the Xeno every-time makes it old.
The company was a threat because they sent them into that situation (Alien), Burke was a company guy in Aliens and you saw how much he cared (or didn't) about humans in that movie. Ripley's speech in alien 3 fits perfectly into that. My point is that the threat of the company was there from day one. The monsters just try to survive against the humans that try to use them. Alien movies seem to be more about human greed than anything, at least the first three.
I think that you can have both the company and the monsters as enemies, you just got to have good writing with human characters and the monsters. About enemies, the Engineer works in Prometheus, and that was new. They could expand on them in some way, so the Xenos don't need to be there always. We already see what happens when it gets over-used like in the AVP's and Resurrection.
Glad to know this project is keeping us update with news. It's been 5 years since last Alien movie so hope this tv show will make the Alien saga alive again.
Ash, Burke, and Michael Bishop worked because they were just a brief obstacle rather than the threat itself. The threat should be the xenomorphs, nothing else.
I hope they don't focus too heavily on the human side of things, I still want my xenomorphs to be an ever present threat and not side lined by a human-like villain.
I'm interested in the corporate side of it, hopefully there will be somewhere where I can watch it.
Good, I don't see any reason to have Ripley in everything connected to Alien. To me she died in Alien 3 and that's it. Expand the franchise and bring in new things, we don't need Riley in everything. Make new characters, and get a writer that knows how to do that and that understands their importance to the story. Unfortunately they didn't work in the prequels, but trying something new isn't bad in itself. Time to move on
Ripley, much thanks to impressive performances by Sigourney Weaver throughout the Alien Quadrilogy, was always the heart of the Alien films. Synonymous with the series, her character arc has gone through so many phases, from a survivor, to a warrior with mother instincts, a victim who honourably sacrifices herself to save everyone, and ultimately a resurrected being who ironically now shares a bond with the creatures she fought against.
While it’s very much possible to include Weaver’s Ripley in the franchise again (and I would love to see her again) is it necessary? Or perhaps more importantly, as which Ripley? Ripley from Aliens, which would flat out ignore the events in Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection? Or following the latter, with Ripley continuing her path as the hybrid human/xeno being? The Quadrilogy is already an incredible and extremely varied (to say the least) journey for Ripley as it is.
I have a bad feeling about this TV series, I fear were in for another AVP 04 or Alien Resurrection
Damn it, now we will never have that Alternate Alien 3
Very interesting. Judging by that concept art summary, my guess is that the W-Y ship carried eggs, facehuggers or fully grown xenos in captivity which we all know is a recipe for disaster. Most or every crew member onboard dies including the pilots and so the ship, failing to respond to repeated “space traffic control” warnings- crashes into the ground, releasing the xenos and/or leaving the eggs to be discovered by soldiers later on thus releasing more xenos into the civilization.
Has it been revealed what part this Prodigy Corp plays into this? What’s their agenda? Rivals at terraforming? “Building even better worlds”
Perhaps attempting to control the xenos like the W-Y corp for use as bio-weapons?
Wait I wonder is she a mutated xenomorph or is she a neomorph?
Pathogen alien-queen? How would this be different to the queen in Aliens (AR doesn't count, LOL!)? I like that they try new things, but they got to be smart about it.
I can't to get this expansion
I meant I can't wait to get this expansion
This is such a good take! i never thought of him this way. :) i do see where you're coming from! i feel like you are certainly right, he is good in certain ways.
in my opinion, When he was first created, his only purpose was to serve the humans for.. who knows how long. In the end it was the humans fault for engineering him with that potential defect of him going rouge. (which, he obviously did in the end.) As well as evolving emotionally attached to the wrong things. However ill have to back this up as character, not AI as so far all evolutions we know of have character and personalities unlike most robots.
Im not the best at wording things, but basically, yes. yes he does have good aspects and i dont think its entirely his fault for loving the Xenomorphs as its in his design. he was tired, so tired. Corrupt and in need of new purpose after over half of his crew perished, with more on the way.
hopefully this makes some sort of sense, thank you! <3
While it surely enhances the experience, how marketable is VR really? Unless the game doesn’t have a huge budget and also isn’t expected to sell huge amounts.
(Honest translation: I get motion sickness from VR and would prefer a regular game displayed on a screen)
Glad to hear that the Alien franchise is still relevant.
A reboot to the AVP movies to erase this filth is defiantly needed
that and Paul W S Anderson's terrible writing and directing
Lex is what dragged the movie down though
Big Dave your back
AVP isn't totally crappy, Lex is alright, although she could have been better. The environment is well done. Unfortunately, the tone is too light-hearted, and most of the human characters are a waste. Weyland acted by Lance Henriksen is well done, so two human characters that are good enough. When the predator character that she ends up with on her side is better done than most of the human characters, you have a serious problem.
“Would you like to see Alien vs. Predator rebooted?”
Not a fan of reboots in general. Come up with new stuff, thanks.
I agree with RuhanS, Ridley Scott needs to be allowed to finish what he started, Prometheus and to some extent Covenant were very entertaining films and the story needs to be completed.
I still hate this movie but not the idea of an AVP reboot movie
Only TIME will tell....
We have had a LOT cleared up, it would appear the Time-Line could be Similar to Prometheus. It seems the Xenomorphs will be Unleashed on Earth, and even maybe Discovered on Earth?
This to me looks like it will GIVE us a Alternative Story, it surely Can-Not go and Connect with the Alien Franchise...not without their being either Continuity Problems or they come with the COVER-UP/CONSPIRACY ANGLE.
Hopefully Alien Day 2023 will Yield more Results... as this Years was a Massive Disappointment.... however the COVID Pandemic and Disney Take Over had likely altered the Path of the Franchise.... as HAD neither of these Happened, maybe we would have had another ALIEN movie in 2022.
So excited. I like his Fargo series and hope there are many seasons to come.
No, not an alternate timeline. It says it set within the film's timeline but not directly following the events in the film meaning Its an interquel - a side story, the films are still canon but they are out of focus out of mine
"The Alien TV series will also write its own history within the Alien canonical timeline - ignoring the franchise's films entirely. "
Like an alternate time-line? It might work.
Here's a recommendation, read the original ALIEN/ALIENS Dark Horse Comics. You'll thank me later
I mean sure I didn't talk about Aliens Labyrinth nor Aliens Genocide yet, both are create stories and wished they had a movie adaptation to them. I was primarily focusing on the original comic trilogy, Outbreak, Nightmare Asylum, and Female War which leads (in a small way) to Labyrinth and Genocide
Not to diminish what you're saying, but think about it. Isn't it easier for people to trust a dedicated podcast about things, rather than some random dude that they don't know that writes at a message board? Hopefully they do research that makes sense about topics.
I'm just a random guy, so I expect people to listen more to a podcast of fans than me just writing here. Eventually that situation applies to you also most likely. To me it makes sense, so don't feel too down about it.
Wow, looks like it will be like Silent Hill Book of Memories, so happy to know it will be a RPG title, too. Can't wait to play next year!
I'm already in the hype, Alien: Isolation shines a lot in VR, imagine in Aliens!
It's a quote from Marcus Aurelius
Oh so that's what happened to the deacon
Hey I keep mentioning the alien comics on here but its not until the xenomorph podcast for people to take notice... sigh
I welcome you to the Alien (and Predator) forums. Well there is a predator forums and an AVP forums but the AVP forums don't work properly and the Predator Forums kind of links back to the alien forums anyways
