Barf The MogAlien: Covenant Forumwho do you think the main character in alien awakening is going to be?

ALIEN: Awakening - not confirmed and probably not going to happen for a while, if it even does.

However, for the sake of fantasy, the lead character role should be a non-white female robot.

20th FOX and the next director need to cast Asian actors, Latino, Native American, Black, Isreali, Iranian, Transgender, everyone really.

How did Alien 3 get away with one African American actor and one Asian (toward the end)?

Aliens seemed to have the most diverse cast out of all of the films.

Ridley whitewashed the heck out of Exodus, and I strongly feel that he needs to be fired from the ALIEN prequel project.

AtiAlien: Covenant ForumThe Mutagenic Pathogen and the Parasites Bursting from the Dying Engineers

sherris - Thanks!

I think it's a remarkable summary which explains every event in Prometheus and Alien Covenant:

Pathogen ---> Host ---> Death

Pathogen ---> Host ---> Mutation

Pathogen ---> Host ---> Hybridized creatures are produced (trilobites, insect-like motes, parasites) ---> Host again ---> Xenomorph-like hybridized creatures are produced (deacon, neomorph)

'the "one goo" which this also supports i guess' -- Yes!

'this is due to the amount ingested' - Yes, but we should take into consideration the DNA Reflex thing mentioned in the text.

'so humans suffering the same rain down of the pathogen would produce different effects on humans ????' - Probably yes, but I'm sure sudden death is obvious and some kind of parasite will occur but we don't know this situation since the movies haven't shown that possibility yet, and again the DNA Reflex can be a significant factor...

great content. i am a fan of the "one goo" which this also supports i guess ?

The only issue is that the engineers are the only ones who have these parasites coming out of their bodies instantly almost and are you saying this is due to the amount ingested ?

i think it is a stretch to think that the result is closely linked to the engineer death and deacon entrance ?

are you saying the engineers died in that way as that is how the pathogen destroys that particular life form ? so humans suffering the same rain down of the pathogen would produce different effects on humans ????

I got to be honest here...we may be too spoiled with sci-fi films in 2017. The trailer is mind-blowing. Thank you Timmy the ultramorph.

Yes jdvyne, I know. I thought it was epic.

Engineer Infant Experiments in David 8's Drawings

From this, we have revealed:

Engineers can procreate

David 8 had Engineer children to work with

David 8 was developing internal ribbing in his organism

David 8 was incorporating biomechanical into his development with the help of the Engineer anatomy.

The drawing is included in the Blue-Ray. As well as the drawing below that describes neomorphs communicating with a hive mind.

"Can I ask which specific scenes you enjoy watching?"

Any scene with Walter!

The opening scene with David and Peter and the moment the title of the movie forms devil horns around David's head! Amazing to watch, pure genius!

Shaw showing up as a ghost image in the reflection on Tennessee's space suit. Look for it.

David bombing the Engineers....I've watched this a hundred times.

Crane versus the Xeno. hundred times at least!

Probably watch about a half hour of the movie. Digest it...then later in the day do it again.

Prometheus I do the same.

XenotarisAlien: Covenant ForumDoes A:C retcon AVP, AVP:R, Predator 2?

I say yes AVP is retconned out. Besides the AVP movies didn't make a lot of sense anyway, I'm mean Resurrection Xenos before Resurrection Xenos existed. Sure one could say Convergent Evolution but the Xenos depicted in AVP were too similar to the Alien Resurrection Xenos to be labeled as Convergent evolution. The Black Goo I believe is an Engineer creation unless stated otherwise.

Also, I think any Xenos directly derived from the black goo would look more like a Deacon more than a Classical, Warrior, Runner, Resurrection Xenomorph.

Muhamor83Alien: Romulus 2 NewsAlien: Covenant is not a film I would have made, says James Cameron

Prometheus was Cameron's idea in early 2000s. So Cameron's involvment in Alien saga goes deeper than Aliens. Is that his way of telling Scott I wanna help you out here?

Michelle

I suppose you can call dramatic works (3 films e.g.) which in some way are connected a trilogy (even if there are new characters, the problem which craves a solution is the same)? If you stretch a story over many generations it makes a greater impact, I think. In the alien saga, it’s 28 years but the story begins thousands (or millions) of years earlier with the engineers, and before them . . . It would be interesting to go further back in time to get some more clues about the beginning of it all . . .

I remember seeing Chiefs (long ago) where you get to follow three chiefs of police (replacing each other over a period of 30 or 40 years) trying to solve a problem of missing boys (a serial killer), which was captivating (finally for the crook too :) ). LOTR is a small story within a much greater context stretching over thousands of years (three eras). The story is narrated (written down) first by Bilbo, then Frodo and finally Sam (Red Book of Westmarch).

But if we go with your idea, Michelle, of a tear drop ship majestically emerging at the end and grabs the players by the ear, what would that solve? Who created them and why did they create the engineers (if they did)? It would go on ad infinitum. In what way is it audacious to say that there aren’t any definite answers to be found (agnosticism) and that the ultimate questions are up to each and everyone’s beliefs? I think it’s a humble position?

If Scott settles with a trilogy, it would be enough I think (giving some kind of conclusion, and perhaps also connect it to Bladerunner - making it an even vaster epos?). Then we can move forward again with the story - Blomkamp and Alien 5.

Muhamor83Alien: Covenant ForumNo more CGI.

CGI is great where it's needed, but there are multiple problems in AC:

First when they land on the planet, Aliens are jumping around like some crazy monkeys. Movements are too fast and random, extremely unrealistic. Then there was a creature that had no eyes, I mean dinosours looked more convinving in 1993 Jurassic park. I get it that nobody does costumes anymore, but special effects in original Alien took time and creativity, like animal organs, thats why they looked so terrifying vs rendered graphics. Oh and where are air detectors? That was so cool to watch this little dots on the screen closing up on its prey, real suspense!!!

I don't know how to reply directly yet so... Top guy, I always have viewed them as separate but hypothetically they could have been in the same timeline up till A:C. Now they just can't work. I enjoy them all for what they are though. Second guy, if they exisited before the events of A:C I don't think we would have had the xenoctopus mural in Prometheus. I do however see your point.

Great movies stand being watched many times, with new things to be found on each viewing. I saw Covenant many times at the cinema. The hangar scene near the end was a little hectic, so I was glad I knew what was coming on the second viewing.

I'd perhaps get out of this one by citing 'convergent evolution'. For example, you can bet your bottom dollar that if life exists on multiple planets throughout the universe you will definitely find sharks time and again. If the black goo has been around for an eternity, perhaps even before the Engineers, it may be just itching to fulfil its ultimate destiny, so to speak, wherever you find it. That opportunity could have presented itself many times in the past.

Pretty sure at this point you kind of have to view the alien, predator, and avp movies in separate continuities

Where do you have this from? This is very big, do you know that? I'm havin a hard time trying to read it. I didn't get everything, but this I understood:

"Returning to the notion of integration and biomechanical concerns I would posit that lessons learned here could and should be applied to the ultimative maturation of the Engineers direction if not their literal fate. Through the virus / Xenomorph as glorious synthetic and poetic culmination of the species. And an amusing biblical at that. Though not quite linear due to my own inheritance."

Now the question is only if he wrote that to mock them or if he meant it literally.

At the end btw he talks about a composite chitinous ... I always thought that the alien has some kind of chitin skin. The big bugs in davids lab also seemed to indicate this. Now I know I was right : D

Ati the thing about the blood slipping scene is that it happens twice in a row. if there is only one blood slip witch my version would have it won't seem like a plot device to get them killed.

(@dk I don't see that screen capture you did in the movie.  Of course, there are multiple versions of movies.  I've noticed two versions of Alien and two versions of Alien: Covenant.  I also noticed two versions of Aliens, yet I haven't found the best version and it's been awhile.  Maybe I'm getting Aliens confused with a scene in Alien3.  I haven't seen Alien3 in a LONG time, so that may be the case.  I haven't really payed attention to different versions in Prometheus since it's not on TV very much.  Actually, I don't think it has been on regular TV period.  Alight, well, I'm going to watch Alien: Covenant again.)

It is also interesting to read the actions in the script that may not be in the movie- like the beginning dream sequence- that would have been great! Sig looks quite stunning in this movie) (I need to re watch since it has been over a year. I forgot how much I like Resurrection).
