Something RealAlien: Covenant ForumDead Meat: Into Battle choice....

IRAPTUS - My vote is for Hicks and Hudson! The reasoning behind this decision is simple: Hicks is an amazingly good-looking gentleman - and he knows how to teach a lady a thing or two about firearms. ;)

My Vote is Dillon because he is loyal to a fault, uncompromising and merciless, but has compassion. He will never quit or let down those he calls family. to the end.

Sothoth, what size tv are you watching Covenant on? Also, DVD or Blu Ray?

VivisectedEngineer LOL! Fair enough. We work with only poultry eggs with shells that we physically crack and they do not open when near "the meat". I will remember to be specific to ask Walter for garlic powder and not a strange looking garlic "bulb".

@ Thombach

Well observed. Those urns are obviously designed to expel the goo when activated. When they start melting (for whatever reason), we see the goo basically squirting out slowly from the top of the urn, like ketchup, then running down the sides, onto those worms. Perhaps they were semi activated, which caused them to ooze out the goo, rather than explode totally.

Those black particals were not "flying". They were falling down from the sky and blowing in the wind like rain. Rain doesn't fall directly down, it is blown in all directions.

Motes are a different thing to goo. In the movie, we know they were tiny insects, that early script has them changing shape..but they are still different to the black goo. I've noticed a lot of differences between that script and the final movie as well, now that I've actually read it.

owww poor Ash. No one wants him as their pet Synth :(

Is it perhaps because he was anti-social and somewhat creepy even before being revealed to a nefarious psychotic android??

"David's heart is in the right place... right?"

I am seriously questioning your ability to judge character. Hey, why don't you go very closely examine that large egg Walter and dk are working on over there? It's perfectly safe! I assure you!

@dk

You should probably remember to be extremely specific when dealing with A.I.

Well, I wouldn't trust overly philosophical synthetics. Least of all around eggs -- I've learned from Oram's mistakes!

Lawrence of Arabia Yeah- it is a loose paraphrase from a psychotic android. Regardless, the idea seems optimistic.

I would trust Walter since he would learn as he went along with actual real world experience whereas David was born with everything including PW's ego. I like to think of Walter as being similar to Data- trying to understand and apply nuances of humanity instead of coming out of the gate feeling superior.

I was referring to the Nietzsche, lol. Though, as I'm a vegan, I see how my comment could have gone either way.

You are stuck with Ash. You have my sympathies.

I can admire your cruelty. It is after all your thread!

The Overman is a pretty cool read and could possibly allow Walter to think outside the box. It is essentially a story of always striving for perfection knowing it is ultimately impossible.

@Lawrence of Arabia

My car was totaled recently. It's name was Lucky (my husband and I both tend to get emotionally attached to machines). My husband took me to the tow-yard and gave me a moment alone to say good-bye to it - it had been my first and only car and it had gotten me through a lot, so it was a very sentimental moment.

As I bid Lucky adieu, Bishop's ultimate fate popped into my head, and I realized I wasn't actually crying over Lucky at all, I was crying over Bishop. ...Which is ridiculous. But, I named my new car Bishop.

As we await the decision, Walter and I are off to discuss Nietzsche's Overman while I learn the finer points of making an omelette vs scrambled eggs. Tah tah!

OK, another obsrvation about the black stuff.

In Prometheus we see it leak from some of the urns when the air is disturbed after 2000 years. David's sees the stuff is moving on top of the urn, forming into blob shapes. Just before David bags an urn to take back to the ship the black stuff is jumping off the top of the urn into the air, going crazy. Whatever it was doing, it seems to be able to move and shape change without needing any animal tissue to infect and mutate.

In the bombing scene the little black particles are swarming through the air in all directions before they even get to the Engineers. How? They have not infected the tissue of any animal to transmute into a flying organism, so how are they flying? Did they form into a flying or flapping shapes to move through the air?

This description of the motes got me thinking of this.

"Ever changing it its form--lurching and stabbing into new shapes - oily black and beautiful"

That is exactly how I would describe the goo on top of the Urn David was looking at.

OK BigDave. You have spent 15 years training for a WY mission and the final task is to choose a synth to accompany you on the mission per WY Regulations. You have read the resumes and are at the 30 second window from departure. Failure to choose disqualifies you from the mission. Which android will you choose? tic toc tic toc lol!

BigDave, the resemblance to Mike Tyson is uncanny. That's funny.

Ati, that's awesome. I'll enhance the images in a little while and get that second face. Thank you again. I guess the evidence leans toward the elders etched into the mountain. I remember the discussion a while back on the topic but I wasn't sure if the sacrificial Engineer was discussed.

That's what I thought as well dk

That's what I like about the Alien universe though, it's so nihilistic, everything is meaningless in the black void of space. I did love Bishop :(

Agreed! I do want Newt to be ok, though. If only because Bishop went to all that trouble of saving her despite clearly being in so much pain.

I would really hate for his efforts to be wasted. I feel like his sense of guilt and uselessness over his failure may have contributed to his feelings of resignation to non-existence.

Glad to have some form of closure to the David experimenting on Holloway and Shaw never knowing thing. You could tell she had an inkling in the film but she never got her answers, which is bleak and I like it that way but to read it was nice :) Also love David's response “…Perhaps… it was… simply… because they could.” echoing Holloway's statement. David does alot of stuff because simply he can lol

VivisectedEngineerAlien: Covenant ForumWhat is more rare than capturing a xenomorph in the Alien universe?

@Ingeniero

Yes, that was pretty cunning of David to downplay his drawing skills for Shaw!

Ok, I found a couple of pictures of David8 for you!

Here's one where he's feeling quite hopeful about his new found friendship with his Engineer pal!

Here's one where he fears Shaw is dead so he contemplates the very real possibility that he will therefore have to spend the remainder of his existence as a severed head in a dreary cave, and will never ever get to watch Lawrence of Arabia nor read Ozymandias again.
