Prometheus is more rewatchable for me.
Ever considered VR?
Is it possible in Unity?
Anyway, good luck with your awesome project!
Some interesting designs here, and so who knows
LOL DK indeed.
The Pretzel ships i do believe were some of the concepts they was going to use instead of the Pebble like Ship we got for the Seeding Scene.
In the Earlier Spaights draft they was just Flying Pyramids
Jonesy you make me wanna step on your tail!
ohh tough one!
Prometheus for me.
It might be the case that those suits being worn by the crew, are quite protective, made of tough material, and Milburn thought he would be safe from any possible bites or anything. He thought it would be fun to show off and pet the Hammerpede, but he had no idea of the savage, arm snapping attack it would unleash on him.
Respectfully disagree although I can agree with the narrator who stated that the point they were trying to make is there is no point. There is also the whishy washy "because I choose to believe" aspect. This video reinforces my refusal to re watch my dusty blue ray. If you like it- cool! I do not.
@ Hox
Well by that argument....every film you watch is a mystery..because most films include humans...humans were formed by evolution...but we don't know exactly how life started. And we don't know what caused the "Big bang" which started the universe we all live in. Every story is a huge mystery....wow.
I think the mysteries that were presented in the original Alien movie have now been solved. Of course you can keep asking an infinity of questions behind those questions. But that will take forever to explain lol.
David was one of the great thing about Prometheus, which is a terrific movie. The above video does a pretty good job of explaining things to those who suffer from hard of understanding.
@Yog, the Engineer universe is expansive, and it's barely been touched upon. Perhaps you're not a fan of history. Call that a circle if you like, but it's a circle I want to see explored in much more detail. A civilisation that spans the entire galaxy can get up to a lot of interesting stuff, with a lot of interesting history. I'd like to know more. Before even starting with...
God means different things to different people. The ancient alien civilisations in Contact made use of technology developed by a race long since gone. Likewise, we have no idea who engineered the Engineers. I'd like to know. What else did they get up to? Did they face evolutionary warfare, like most forms of life? Did they look like elephants, inspiring mimicry in their creations' reverence? Did the Engineers find the original goo in a green crystal, and if so who put it there and why? There are endless big questions and possibilities.
"Who the hell is Branson?" seems the bigger question. Not seeing anything EXCEPT the movie, no one would know.
That said, I saw the Prologue etc and think the cartoon is reaaly good- thanks for sharing.
You're not going to make me draw a picture are you lol XD
mmmm i could go a pretzel too now you mention it.
Not sure about genitalia but the 3rd and 4th somehow make me want to eat pretzels.
is it just me or does that first one look like a cross section of genitalia, could be either male or female.
The Flying Phallus
Thanks- nice video. It is also nice to hear GLADOS ask questions lol!
33 minutes too long.
Just read the novel if you need more details.
I vote Carry On
I always liked that big tanker model- it was huge but we only ever saw less than ten people on board. That is fascinating to me.
Interesting how Lindelof says "infecting". Obviously that hammerpede was trying to have sex with Milburn (when it went in his mouth), and implant it's version of trilobite in him. Who knows if it was successful, cuz Milburn died anyway.
Oh OK @ Kethol. I retract my previous theory about hammerpedes coming from worm eggs. That is good evidence...I'm just still trying to work out what that thing was in Holloway's eye. I had a theory that it might be a baby hammerpede. But obviously that can't be the case. Maybe it was a tiny trilobite, before it left him during sex?
Prometheus = no 'Alien' pre-fix
Prometheus 2 = no 'Alien' pre-fix
Alien: Covenant = yes 'Alien' pre-fix
Gaahhhh, spammers! prepare to be banned
Timmy the ultramorph Yes. R8 said I am a stranger here myself. Great way to spring board into another chapter.
helps us gauge our own view of this franchise against those of others
What does that mean?
although I don't particularly like alien resurrection, I think there could be another trilogy braching off of it. the xenos are now on earth, the earth is destroyed and the weyland yutani corperation is gone. i was thinking post apoclipse kind of film with xenos
And i vote BigDave and Blackwinter-witch be in that room lol.
I would put Michelle Johnston in there too.....It would be the only way to be sure.
And then Chris comes in to give final approval.
David was the only great thing about Prometheus. Carrying all that creative weight, there is little wonder why he was so angry and sadistic during Covenant.
my vote is Carry On.
The Ripley Trilogy
The original trilogy + Resurrection as a future spin-off works perfectly fine. Although grim there is a neat, tidy, logical and satisfying story of Ripley going from a blue-collared spacer to the defiant, self-sacrificing heroine of Alien 3.
The David Trilogy
Same goes for the Prequel's, providing Riddlers can tie all the loose ends and overt ambiguity into one big epic tale. Covenant has the feel of a bridging film; between the expansive and insightful Prometheus, to whatever the third film ends up being....Hopefully definitive and grand.
But Fox can't be tempted into bringing Ripley or Family into these prequels. No pre-destiny crap.
The Grand Scale Trilogy
Following the conclusion of Ridley Scott's prequels FOX have an opportunity to start a new chapter without need of a re-boot. The deliberate ambiguity of David/Engineer story and the mystery and personal vendetta of Ripleys story allows them to do whatever they choose going forward.
They should really do an expansive grand scale saga and really open the Alienverse up. Introduce us to the worlds and civilisations that exists within it, the threats, exploration and diplomacy of the major players etc.
Move away from the claustrophobic scale of the previous trilogies but increase the magnitude of threat from the xeno's and/or Engineers.
Put Earth on the line.
Set the franchise up to equal the scale and grandeur of other big franchise but keep to its suspense/horror/mystery roots.
But no more piece-meal or ad hoc scripts. Lock a bunch of writers in a room and don't let them out until they have a comprehensive, logical well written saga that is not short-sighted and contradictory.
And i vote BigDave, Michelle Johnston and Blackwinter-witch be in that room lol.
Gavin- I say Carry On. Alien has a history that should not be tampered with. Late comers can check for themselves. Sorry to sound less than objective, but the franchise thus far should not change to accommodate noobs quite honestly. The franchise can continue- fine. Leave what has been done.......done.
I will go with where things go, but the past should not be changed imho.
Nice topic for discussion/debate. Up voted.
I have already been down the road trying to explain neutrinos, stellar flares, and novas on this subject, so I'll just interject something from John Logan's script. The dialogue is basically what we got in the final film, but Logan's description adds to it. Make of it what you will.
DAVID
But if I may ask, Captain, why does your vessel contain terraforming equipment? Are you a mining ship?
ORAM
We’re a colony mission.
There’s a sudden flicker in David’s eyes. Excitement. Quickly masked. But DANIELS notes it.
DAVID
Really? How extraordinary. How many colonists?
ORAM
Oh -- 3,600 more or less.
DAVID
So many good souls! Well, well,
well ...
And later Walter and Daniels have this conversation...
WALTER
Why would he lie?
DANIELS
(leans in) I don’t know, but for someone who’s incapable of feeling pleasure or displeasure he seemed excited as hell to find we’re a colony ship.
And later when Walter confronts David, just before they fight -
WALTER
You sent the message from Dr. Shaw. As a lure.
DAVID
Humans are so predictable, aren’t they? They cannot resist a mystery. Give them a knot, they must unpick it. Give them Pandora’s box and, well...
It is explained in the script that David could not leave the planet because of a planetary shield. That is why the Covenant communications did not work well. He says he did have some limited power from the metal device on the cathedral roof, but not much in the way of technology because the Engineers did not have much.
carry on. Ridley has a good thing going on with the prequels in my opinion.
after the prequals are done, I was thinking a series of anthology movies or spinoffs that expand on the universe and suddly tie into the main timeline.
Very nice work and it fits well with what I'd love to see resolved in Alien: Awakening. Thank you.
...I don't want to wait until 2019 though.
