Mold Scrubbers in Alien: Earth

Who are those guys in suits spraying the walls inside Prodigy Corp in Alien: Earth? Subtly shown throughout various scenes early in Alien: Earth are people wearing bulky suits, spraying the walls of Prodigy Corporation. They get very little attention and no acknowledgement by characters walking past them in the halls.

Upon first glimpses, audiences speculated that these workers were spraying a compound to neutralize acid, since it looked somewhat like acid burns on the walls – prompting further speculation that Prodigy may have had other Xenomorphs or alien specimens that excrete acid hidden away in the compound. Their suits also somewhat reassemble Weyland-Yutani Commandos, which fueled these theories:

The actual explanation is much less sinister. These workers are referred to as Mold Scrubbers (as per Boy Kavalier's remarks) and they are like janitors of the Prodigy Corp keeping mold to a minimum. They play a crucial role in maintaining health for workers and residents of Prodigy's Island facilities, but not by way of containing alien parasites – rather containing Earth-born spores.
