Will Charlize Theron's beauty be subverted?

Hard to say, I doubt they will dress her up like any of those concept drawings, but they might roughen all the actors/acvtresses up a bit for this role. What gives the ALIEN movies that "ALIEN" feeling is the dirt, the grit, nothing is clean and shiny. These characters will be fighting for their lives and in the most strangest of places. But who knows what they will look like.

Hello Guys...Oh, and ALIENetts, I read that Charlize is gonna be playing a character named "Vickers" in PROMETHEUS", so my guess is that she'll be a normal non-alien, human chicky. In this sense, Scott is in the same ball park as the first film, casting a tall, leggy, small busted, no-nonsense, somewhat brazen, survivor type of babe. Except that Theron is an absolute beauty and Weaver was...well...not as much. However, I would love to see some of those Giger "nymphs" manifested on film...just not an ALIEN attached film. I've always found many of them to be attractive...at least in a wierd, mono-chromatic, bio-mechanical, perverted, "queen of the dead" kinda way. I hope I'm not alone in that sentiment. We guys can be pretty strange with our sexual appitites I guess. Most dudes I know joke about the sexiness of blue or green females from AVATAR, STAR TREK, and STAR WARS...or Giger's work. Human women tend to get annoyed by guy's attitudes in that regard. I usually remind them of the dog and pony or donkey shows that girls do in Mexican border towns. That's when they come back with,"Well they're just doing it for the money...you men would "do" an alien chick for free!"...I guess maybe I would. ~Neurion

As for the gorgeous Charlize Theron, I was thinking more along the lines of some kind of transformation or situation where she becomes 'physically' entwined with the (supposed) concept of the film, namely the emphasis on the 'creation' of the Alien race and Giger's input. I dunno, I've just got a feeling in my water about CT - I certainly can't see her being benevolent in this film. I think her character will surprise us some way. Mexico sounds an exotic place Neurion, which 'border towns' are they, lol.

Again I think we all have to trust Ridley Scotts`vision and film-making maturity on this one. Lets not forget that she`s a wonderful actress with dynamism (Monster, The Road) she isn`t afraid to take on a role head on. Where as she may be beautiful, I don`t think its a distraction. In "The Road"...she was make up-less and stunning, But she wanted us to Loathe her character...which she pulled off tremendously in her short screen time. I just saw Michael Fassbender in X-Men First Class last night and he was fantastic. So if she can have some dramtic scenes with him, I think this film will me a true masterpiece

Ridley will not have them looking like supermodels!! remember GI Jane? Lambert? they will be utilitarian looking, maybe the truckers in space like in alien.

I guess it depends on your definition of supermodels. I thought Vasquez was pretty hot, but I'm military and chicks like that always push my buttons. Charlize is going to be fantastic regardless of what role she plays. To be honest though, I'm tired of seeing the female always come out on top in the alien series. For once, I'd like to see the eye candy bite the dust creatively. Something unexpected, unforeseen, and unavoidable. Weaver was terrific as the lead role in the alien series because while not as attractive, she's got a skeletal structure to her face that screams, "Don't $%^$ with me!" She has that presence that commands leadership, and yet has a look about her that seems to drip innocence... occasionally. Usually she's a hard ass, and personally, I love every second of it. As disappointing as the newborn was in Resurrection, Weaver's role in that movie was over the top. I loved both the sinister aspect they gave the aliens (although the aliens in general were virtually useless in that movie. Seriously, watch it again, they do next to nothing), and the good mix of comedy/bad ass attitude that made you grin in anticipation of somebody pissing her off. Ultimately, I'd like to see all of the humans get taken out in Prometheus. The reason I bring that up is because of the completely disappointing AVP movies. You're going to tell me in conflicts where dozens of people fighting off just SINGLE CREATURES (alien or predator) get mauled and destroyed, that one person is going to survive combat against not just an alien swarm, but a group of bloodthirsty predator's as well? Ugh....... Basically what I'm punching at is that no matter who they cast or how well they play, if they can avoid the law of inverse ninja, I'll be very, very happy. Note: For those who don't know, law of inverse ninja states: As the number of ninja go up, the effectiveness of ninja go down. This is the alien series in a nutshell. One alien, huge problem. 300 aliens, much, much less effective. Sure plenty of people were killed, but in the end 3 people survived, and half a robot. And one of those people was a kid. Really? 1 predator, huge problem. 3 Predators? Didn't even get attacked by people and 2 died to a single alien, the same alien in fact. For those who know the lore behind Predator's, that's like getting a headshot on 53 zombies with one bullet. That you threw. With your bad arm. That was shot. Twice. Seriously? But then again the new Predators movie brought it all back again. All of the predators were vicious and either died WHILE killing somebody, or died because of injuries sustained while fighting off another predator making them weaker. So I'll have trouble believing a much larger alien race is going to be easily pushed over by humans. One queen is so much to handle that they've NEVER killed one in the movies in combat. And no, I don't count Resurrection. That stupid newborn could rip Queen's face off and yet couldn't rip Winona into tiny little pieces? Really? Not even when we were all hoping it would? Why Ridley? Why didn't you direct the sequels so they wouldn't suck? Anyways, I'm way off tangent. I think CT will kick ass, or get diced in seconds upon the first encounter. Either way, it'll be awesome.

Vickers is another charactor's love interest. If there is sex, why subvert her beauty? But, she does play the charactor older, 40 something.

@Reaper I just wanted to say that was an awesome post. Totally agree with you on that they have to avoid the inverse ninja law.
