MemberOvomorph08/24/2011Alien origins seem to be a good topic for discussion on this forum, and I was reading one in which people were considering which aspects of the later alien films may reoccur in Prometheus.
Theres alot of ideas revolving around the aliens being bioengineered weapons, but from the alien summary for the movie, we can conject that the idea of inherited form, introduced in Alien 3 is continued. So the developing alien has its physiology influenced by the genetic make up of the host organism.
Some people dont like Cameron's addition of the Queen, but i think the source of the eggs must be explained. I like the bio-weapon idea though, and the similarities in the design of the space jockey and alien (both by Giger) suggest that they are closely related. Since the Queen lays the eggs, is it not resonable to assume that in fact, the Queen alien (or something like it) is the bioengineered weapon, rather than her offspring.
Big aliens are said to feature in Prometheus, are they organisms incubated in space jockies, or Queens, or something else?

MemberOvomorph08/25/2011I think the 'Big Aliens' are the SJs themselves. Some comments on the filming of Prometheus have been made by people not familiar with 'Alien Lore'. I remember someone saying there was a giant head piloting a spaceship. Now we are not sure that is right as the egg/urn chamber where the giant head features is not necessarily a command bridge, more like a growing chamber etc. and the head may not be a pliot at all but merely a statue representing the species being cultivated.

MemberOvomorph09/3/2011I'm going to hazard a guess that the Xenomorphs don't even exist in at the start of Prometheus. I think the crew will become part of a horrific experiment, and then the rest explains itself.
It'll be interesting to see.
In i09.com's write up of the comic-con footage, the screen shot with the flamethrower in action actually shows a Xenomorph being burned alive. Whether this was a crew member or not we can't be sure.
I think if the crew become the Xenomorphs, this'll be more original that just the classic: the crew running from a band of Xenomorphs. We've seen that before tbh and I'd personally like to see it re-done in more of an original manner.
