To me its fun to use my fantasy and create "alternative" story-lines around alien and space jokey universe.... what about this one?
Here it goes ... is in my sick brain some years ... time to let it out ... perhaps :-)
Assuming, Ltd. Ripley (yes, her!) dies at the beginning of the movie.
She is in a hospitol, she is ill, old and helpless.
She is sad and hopeless.
She dies.
Something like her "soul" leaves her dead body.
It moves on into some kind or tunnel (or worm hole?) straight into a strong light.
This strong light may be some kind of "heaven", but it is a really huge "ball" somewhere outside. Outside, not only in another "galaxy", its a ball bigger then the sun, and its hot.
All souls of dead people of planet earth move on into this "ball" of fire.
Its their next incarnation, somekind of "fire"-lifeform.
The more souls populate this ball, the bigger it gets!
In this strange "universe" or "paralel universe", there is a humanoid species.
Yes, they are humans, just like us! But they are not us. They are living in another universe, and they dont know about us. They even dont know whats this ball of fire in their universe, but they see - it grows! And they are scared.
They have some scientists there, and they know - when this fire-ball reaches a "critical mass", it will explode, and their whole universe will go to hell and will be vaporized. Thats why they search for strategies to destroy this fire-ball - not knowing that its populated by people - dead peoples souls from another universe. But thats the sense of the fire-ball - grow and grow and then destroy everything and everything starts again . Thats like it happend some billion times before - endless up and down of lifeforms and civilizations over endless times.
Thats the game - but who wants to accept it?
They shoot all they have onto the fire-ball, but it does not have any impact.
Then they have an idea - design a lifeform, so bad and awfull and resistable, and let it infiltrate the fire-ball.
This species is so dangerous that it can be brought to life on the homeplanet of this humanoid species.
They send a spaceship to a journey to the fire-ball. And on the way through their space, machines and robots, automats create that species, bring that bad lifeform to life on the way to destination. The use a mix of genepools for the creation of this lifeform.
When this starhip comes close to the fire-ball, one of these souls who populate the fire-ball, leaves its planet. Its not the badness of this lifeform which could be dangerous to the souls on the fire-ball planet - its the genmix, which could desturb the harmonie and is not compatible.
So one of them, decides to act as martyr.
It moves over to the starship to change the route it flies.
This fire-ball people have some amazing abilities - it can change its shape as needed. It takes a seat on the commanders seat on that spaceship, and becomes "ONE" with the seat. Now the creature is some kind of "space jokey", ready to navigate the starship away from the fire-ball.
But in same time, it knows, that the fire-ball has to be brought to an end - it must GROW to reach the critical mass.
Yes, this space jokey is Ltd. Ripley herself.
She jumps over into another universe - OUR universe.
She starts a signal - awaiting over hundreds and thousands of years for HUMANS to find the signal. The plan is not hard to understand - the aliens should kill as many people as possible, TO POPULATE THE FIREBALL in the other galaxy to finally get the "job" done - populate the fire-ball till the "critical mass" is reached.
The plan... worked?
the signal has been heard.
"...This is spaceship NOSTROMO... on its way... to earth..."
