MemberOvomorph10/3/2011While i was reading the last news about the trailer , a clear link appeared in my ( empty ) mind ...the deleted scene with Brett and Dallas cocooned . It was like they where absorbed and mutated with the alien DNA ...and they were "digested" by the eggs OR they were mutating into new eggs .
The Queen thing is something from Aliens so is not part of Ridley's Alien Universe .
Im wondering if Ridleys is building the plot ,or part of it ,from that deleted scene .

MemberOvomorph10/4/2011It's possible- with all the talk about someone in the crew being transformed, and the info about the grey/green matter that some have speculated as the cause. I was thinking something like that life cycle might be started again too. I've even had the thought cross my mind that they're resurrecting and merging in elements from one of the unused Alien 3 scripts. If anyone knows which one I'm talking about: I think that we might see a few of the crew become "infected" by the spores(possibly nanotech inside the goo): only they will endure a slower transformation process instead of just peeling out of their skin like the original idea had.

MemberOvomorph10/4/2011Transforming from human into something else? Probably.
Transforming from human into xenomorph eggs (like Alien: Director's Cut)? Most likely not.
Transforming from human into xenomorph adults? Possible, but I seriously doubt it.

MemberOvomorph10/4/2011That would be pretty interesting to see and Ridley building off Alien and thus answering many unanswered questions.

MemberOvomorph10/23/2011I doubt it. I believe that the Alien cocoons humans for one of two purposes. 1. To feed off of later. 2. To hold in place, for an eventual facehugger to attach itself. I don't believe that there was any transference of DNA.

MemberOvomorph10/24/2011They are being transformed into eggs, but as this was a deleted scene, and Cameron changed the life cycle in Aliens (Alien Queen) I doubt it will be referenced in Prometheus. However, I do think human transformation will be a big factor in Prometheus.
The cocoon sequence, involving the transformation of Brett and Dallas into eggs, was filmed but was dropped from the final cut of the original release because director Ridley Scott felt that the sequence interrupted the pace of the film. He believed that the inclusion of this sequence interfered with Ripley's attempt to exit the ship, which would have unnecessarily slowed down the picture. The cutting of the cocoon sequence was an attempt by the director to keep tension in the final minutes of the film, not an attempt to alter the intended life cycle. However, Ridley Scott said that the Theatrical Cut is his "Director's cut" and any alternate versions are just special editions for fans. Therefore his intention was to leave this scene out. That scene is now available in the Director's cut.

You can clearly see the "Brett egg" almost complete in this image.

MemberOvomorph10/24/2011Ridley Scott will be much more loyal to his deleted scenes than to cameron work .
To be honest i find this more cool that the "human/hybrid" that was already explored in Alien 4 . Also you remember that in the comic con footage there is a scene with someone burning something on the ground ( or not so tall ) with a flamethrower

MemberOvomorphApr-14-2012 12:08 PMThe egg-morphing concept has intrigued fans for some time. It's difficult to know what Scott's absolute intentions for the alien life cycle are, or whether the queen concept created by Cameron fits with his original vision, but we can definitely speculate.
Found a healthy discussion of this topic from 2008 for anyone that is interested.
