MemberOvomorph12/26/20111) from what you have saw until now how much Giger's art influenced Prometheus ?
2) your take on Vickers and David characters ... are good or bad/evil ?
3) the thing that disappointed you the most until now ( from the trailers ) ?
4) what can destroy the movie for you ?
5) this question is more serious that what it sound ...Alien was one of the first movie that made a woman the main character and the hero/survivor ..when we will see a gay as a central hero in a story ( there are alot of gay soldier heavily decorated in war for example ) ? IS the public ready to accept that ?

What are your own answers Frantz?

2. Evil both of them!
3. Sort of disappointed the Spacejockey might be just a big bald guy and the alien head looked kinda campy too.
4. An epic story that is not so epic like 2 hours of a paranoid mutant crew running around killing themselves.
5. Maybe we already saw it and didn't know it because he/she didn't come out of the closet. I'm talking about you Batman!

2. Yeah Spart. One evil, one conflicted.
3. That there are not more designs by H.R.
4. If it end up being like the end of LOST.
5. We're ready( some of us). Gay people sexual preference has NOTHING to do with being able to be a strong hero. Some of us know that, others will take a little longer. (why this question BTW? Is it rumored that there is a gay hero in this)

MemberOvomorph12/26/20111) in a good part but less of what we think ( and hope )

3) some cliches ( bad Company , conficted couple , and others )
4) a flat plot and an open ending
5) i think will take ages , but we will start to see something soon ( the problem are the masses ...do you remember all the story about sam and frodo being gay ?? ) of secondary maybe .

MemberOvomorph12/26/20111: about 80%
2: Vickers malevolent / David benevolent
3: the uncertainty that this would be another cookie-cutter sci-fi flick (in spite of Scott)
4: too much music / generic "countdown to auto destruct" ending
5: this one is interesting. O'Bannon said that he wanted to make the MEN in the ALIEN
viewing audience "uncomfortable / squirm" - hence the "oral rape of Cain", i think in
this day and age (mainly here in the United States) the only way to really make a male
audience squirm is to go for full on male rape. (sadly). i think a same sex protagonist
is something that the North American audiences really wouldn't like to see, ESPECIALLY
if said same sex protagonist would happen to be a male character. i do wonder, if the
plot that involves Holloway being "tested on" by the Engineers will involve some form
of male-to-male procedures that would make North American males "uncomfortable"
and "squirm".....

MemberOvomorph12/27/20111) Seems about only 10%, so far.
2) I predict both Vickers and David are good characters.
3) Nothing has disappointed me so far...(from the official movie). But I have been disappointed in the leaked/fake scripts because they are terrible...especially the one with the "Star Beast" and 'wormholes'. I'm also disappointed at how much hate and confusion the trailer is getting over at YouTube.
4) Many things can destroy the film for me.
i/ Bad acting. Boring story and plot....including unsatisfying ending or 1 dimensional characters. And if it turns out they go back in time to prehistoric earth.
ii/ CGI monsters.
iii/ Anything that the film-makers promised but isn't actually true. (E.g: If the film turned out to NOT be epic.)
iv/ Overuse of music, or the film having bad music. Sir Ridley has overused music before in Black Hawk Down. (Black Hawk Down literally had music every second of the film)
5) I don't know anything about the controversial homosexual/lesbian protagonist problem.

Predatordreads
MemberOvomorph12/27/20111)I think about 75%
2) Vickers totally Evil, she's the suit. David I think may end up becoming human and turn into the martyr.
3)I guess if I am going to be disappointed in this film it will be that Hot Toys may only be the one company that will make a toy line for this movie because they are SO expensive. I'll be pretty upset if Mc Farlane ends up doing a figure line for this too just because you pretty limited to the poses you can do. I mean come on there all dolls of UFC fighters! I am ok with the idea of the Value sized Uncle Fester being the antagonist in this movie. Ridley did say that the Space Jockey is a suit.
4)If Prometheus turns into a total predictable joke of a movie like Avatar or Independence Day and the rapper Common, Ludacris or Justin Timberlake makes a cameo I will be pretty bummed!
5)If it happens in this movie so be it. But if it does I bet it would be something very subtle.

MemberOvomorph12/27/2011Wow you guys sure are putting a lot of faith into Gigers participation here. Scott has said a few times that his (Giger) work on this film was really limited....stating the only stuff he worked on was some murals. I guess we will see. I'll be honest. The only work I see in the trailer is the Chair room and even that has less of a Giger look about it than the original.

Juxtapose
MemberOvomorph12/27/20111. He did the original alien and a lot of his work is just being rehashed for prometheus...which is fine ...everything is still based on what he did originally...so the main concept is still his.
2.Vickers start of evil and then she shows a more human side towards the 3rd act....she does something heroic...but perhaps dies a s a result?
David is evil as well...he steels the technology from the engineers...(speculation!)
3.The bald dude next to the jockey chair...he looks like the bouncer at the local club.
4.No creatures that even borrow from the original alien design and concept. A confusing plot that jumps back and forth with the aid of time travel.
5.Being a gay man I would really not mind...but I certainly don't see it happening in Prometheus...i believe the jockeys will force 2 heterosexual men together...as part of their experiments....(cause I read something like that somewhere).... As for the main protagonist being gay....not in any big budget box office type of movies....but i am sure u will find it in more arty type of movies....or foreign films.

Mentos
MemberOvomorph12/27/20111.) Sadly not enough. My assumption is they will be replicating Giger's from the original and nothing more.
2.) Vickers - bad probably. David - conflicted after some urn related tampering.
3.) I have to be honest and say the supposed Space Jockey figure.
4.) CGI creatures, bad creature design, bad dialogue, lack of Giger-ness.
EDIT: and Lighting! I remember in the Comic-con stills everything looked really grainy and dark (although that may have just been the quality of the cam clips) but things look a lot brighter in Prometheus. Lighting played a massive part in A L I E N 's realism, and I'm not saying Prometheus needs to echo it; it is a different film, but I really like the dark gritty look.
5.) I'm not sure I understand, which actor/character is Gay in Prometheus?

MemberTrilobite12/27/20111. Giger is getting on a bit now, but from the ampule room, the silhouette of the temple and the Derelict itself it looks as though representations of Gigers work have been used throughout to represent "otherworldy" elements of the story, much like in Alien.
2. Vickers seems like a "by-the-book" company employee, whom probably barks orders and supervises things from afar, until it all goes wrong then IMO she shows her humanity and sacrifices her pension and company standing to do the right thing.
David seems almost childlike in his representation, seeing all around him with awe and wonder. As to whether this is a ruse to him being a "guarantee" that the company will get what it wants or not remains to be seen.
3. The conflicting representation of the Space Jockeys. On one hand we have the "Tall Humans", and on the other hand we have the Space Jockey skull being scanned by the crew. IMO the Space Jockeys are alien creatures, but I am confused as to who or what the tall human is.
4. A predictable and unoriginal story masquerading as an "epic" tale. I truly hope that the story has the scope that Ridley claims.
5. A gay/lesbian main character in either an antagonist or protagonist role. Outside of Alien/Prometheus this is already a reality - Captain Jack Harkness in Torchwood. In regards to Prometheus it is a likely possibility, becasue in the DVD commentary for Alien Ridley talks about the possibility of a deep space crew being uni-casual-sexual.
