Thought it was taken from Inception, but apparently not!

MemberOvomorph12/1/2011That theme music is in fact "AWESOME" and for me it sounds as if it is made in the spirit of the "Warning" signal the Nostromo intercepted and which is being sent out from the Derelict on LV-426...it sounds like... as Dallas described it..."an accoustical beacon repeating at intervals of 12 seconds."
Only it's repeating a lot quicker than 12 seconds, more like 3 or 4.
Overall the effect that score has on the visuals is astounding and IMO...
Sound... makes/can make... a big difference in the perceived atmosphere of any film that has it.
It is a perfect choice.

MemberOvomorph12/1/2011I think it sounds like the original Alien teaser trailer before the film score was completed by Jerry Goldsmith back in the spring of 79. The Prometues trailer has heavy keyboard sounds added but very, very simular.

MemberOvomorph12/1/2011I WAS 17 @ THE TIME.
What made that 1st ever Alien Spot so amazing was that up until that time in film history no one had ever dared advertise a feature film in that manner...AND THE SOUNDS ON IT.
No one had ever heard sound presented in that manner in a film ad.
The breathing, "Sigouney Ripley's" lol, breathing was a Big part of That!!!
We cannot hear it in that clip. I think it may have actually been in one of the later versions of it, or I imagined it, but there were at least 5 different versions of it that came out in succession.

MemberOvomorph12/3/2011I get a quick chuckle at how trailers of the past were made (virtually everything pre-1980). They usually have a narrator pretty much explain the plot (including ending) to you while showing lengthy direct clips from the movie. Huh? How is THAT a trailer?
At least Alien 79 trailer dropped the obligatory narration and had a more appropriate score with quick flashes of intriguing scenes.
Wow, have trailers gotten much better over the decades though. So much so they can fool the audience to make them think they are actually going to watch a descent film.

MemberOvomorph12/5/2011You're right, case in point is to watch the teaser trailer for Episode 1 for Star Wars and then watch the movie...

MemberOvomorph12/5/2011I sure hope the actual soundtrack score will match up to the atmospheric tone set by the music used during the 'leaked' 1st teaser...
It's up there with some of the best trailers ever, and we haven't even seen it properly yet!

MemberOvomorph12/5/2011That's true Spartacus, a good score can really heighten the scare factor.
This particular music seems to be the antithesis of what everybody was
expecting, me included, (low key) and is very threatening, intense and
powerful implying a literally hard-hitting, violent premise. Wether this
premise is indeed set in the trailer and will play out in the film and 'scare
the living s*** out of us' remains to be seen.

MemberOvomorph12/5/2011ZetaReticuli,
I'm still humming it during the day to myself whenever I think of the film.
"Whoooomp, 2, 3, 4, Whoooomp, 2, 3, 4, Whoooomp, 2, 3, 4, Whoooomp"
That soundtrack was "Mad Sick Good" !

MemberOvomorphJun-29-2012 7:36 PMI love that the Prometheus trailer music is directly inspired by the original Alien trailer music. I was drawn in by the Prometheus trailer, but I couldn't trace where I'd heard the sounds before. Dig it...dig the movie!
