I am watching this as the moment, and the anunaki (???) might have influenced Ridley's idea for the Space Jockeys in Prometheus.

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011Interesting. Have you seen these?

Then compare them to this,

This is also quite interesting.

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011Chariots of the Gods, although i've never heard it cited officially, bore a lot of similarity to ridleys commentaries for alien and his jockey ideas. Again, even though i don't believe it was officially cited the influence was (forgive me snorkel lol) clear to see in AVP.

MemberTrilobite12/10/2011The more I watch this the more I am convinced, Frankenstein has been inferred - the Modern Day Prometheus, You should all watch this!

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011The Guy who wrote the book...Chariots of The Gods...I think it was in 1939 or something like that claimed that ALIEN the original was completely stolen from that story, the Makers of Alien settled the law suit out of court.

Gavin
MemberTrilobite12/10/2011When I said convinced, I was referring to the film Prometheus. The only real tangible evidence I've seen thus far is the stones at Puma Punka.

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011@ Spartacus.
Yeah i'm pretty sure something like that happened, they apparently "kissed & made up" after that whole fiasco. Von Daniken also wrote several other books with "of the gods" in the title. Im sure I read somewhere recently that Scott is going back to Von Danikens work for inspiration/ideas.
OT, Did you get my mail?

Spartacus
MemberOvomorph12/10/2011The music piece he used at the end of Alien had/has a part in it called the same thing..."Chariots of the Gods"...I think.

MemberTrilobite12/10/2011One question, that won't be answered for six months though is - When do the Space Jockeys interfere with life on Earth...
1. Do they create life on earth (maybe pouring their goo into the oceans)?
2. Do they create humans (maybe using their green goo on apes)?

Spartacus
MemberOvomorph12/10/2011I think they do but we DON'T see that, it will be inferred.
The film will end with some inference to the eggs on LV-426, and Humans on the way, {takes light years for deep space warning signals to be heard and responded to} and I think...that is where it will end... because it is enough from that point on to suggest that Earth is in some deep "doggie doodie"

Gavin
MemberTrilobite12/10/2011I think the inference will come from the age of the Space Jockey artefact/site they find on earth, it will either be older than the first living organism known or preceed the first known human fossil.
I think the former makes them more benign, whereas the later would make them more malevolent.

MemberOvomorph12/10/2011I was wrong, here are the Facts...
A lawsuit by A.E. van Vogt, claiming plagiarism of his 1939 story "Discord in Scarlet" (which he had also incorporated in the 1950 novel "Voyage of the Space Beagle"), was settled out of court.
