Alberta Canada's Government has become the first entity to officially classify the Prometheus Trailer, which means someone at Fox has been sending copy's out now through out North America !!!
A good bet the film will follow with the same..."14yrs"...as the trailer here...for it's North American Release!

I really hope the film is R or 18 rated, just the thought of trying to watch this at the cinema while a bunch of teenagers mess about & spoil it makes me sick.

Engineer Prototype - Model GAJ84
I couldn't agree more Man, and that is exactly why I posted this when I saw it today.

I'm waiting for the BBFC to clasify it. Somtimes they might give the trailer for a film a 15 then the film itself an 18.

it also says there that the film itself has to be equal or lesser rated when released meaning it will be 14+ or less in Alberta at least, my province, Quebec, might be the ONLY Canadian province to carry a rating different from the rest of North America.

yeah agreed EP, the BBFC base a trailer classification on the the content of the trailer, not what the film is likely to be, which they won't know because they haven't even classified it yet seeing as its not complete. I can't see how the canadian rating agency can have rated a film that won't have been screened for them yet.
That and i don't believe Ridley Scott would have directed the film if he couldn't have made it aimed at a rating he wanted. There's to much love for Alien and i don't think he would risk critical and popular backlash by directing something based on a targetted demographic by the studio. That's why AVP bit my hairy ass

MY** hairy ass. I won't comment on whether it bit other peoples, hairy or otherwise.
yes mine is hairy

The films official trailer was shipped to them for classification.
the film has also finished filming {it's "In The Can"} and is in post production now.

I dont think exist a trailer R rated for a 100 millions budget movie ...btw the most scaring parts of Alien dont need a R rating

I agree completely with Frantz, and at the same time I think a PG rating will Hurt not help this film.
And deep inside I want it to be Rated "R" minimum.
That would say a lot for the content being Reflective of their vision, Untainted, & Raw and as Scott & Giger most certainly want it.

All the films in the Aliens/Predator/AVSP franchise that have been 18 or R rated have been pretty damn good. IMO, everything else has been a let down, i.e, AVP, AVP:R and Predators. Granted, a film does not have to be 18 or R rated to be a blockbuster or all time classic, but with certain films there is not necessarily alot of blood or gore but still an 18 rating is needed due to the psychological horror, and psychological horror is an important ingredient in the Alien franchise, something AVP, AVP:R and Predators were all missing.

Not normally, it's the studio usually, hence why bad films always have the best parts in the trailer, and really bad films just give you a summary of the film.
Saying that, am unsure as to whether ridley had anything to do with trailers in his earlier films, after all he did start out in commercials. See the thread entitled "Ridley Scotts Debut"

Scott does watch the trailer. In the documentary about Kingdom of Heaven, Scott was approving the trailer for the film so I am sure that his hand blessed this trailer, he wants to make sure that everything rolls good for the film...after all, his name is on it.

good stuff, does seem like a quality trailer, plenty of hints and teases without giving any of the plot away
December 11, 2011
I agree Cain1977,
& that's the point, his "name is on it".
It would be unwise of any director not to, because the trailer, like the film is an overall reflection of HIS/HER efforts and overall guidance and work on the piece in question, it is his own/their own reputation{s} on the line on top of everyone else who is involved so any good director would I feel take an active interest in the trailer content and version releases.

I agree with you Frantz but what I mainly was referring to was the film itself. I hope its rated "R"..I mean a PG-13 rating for an Alien film....come on now.
