Mine is a toss up, I am a fond lover of James Horner and Hans Zimmer...both their work can be masterful and powerful to soft and errie....
Favorite film, The Dark Knight and Gladiator so far...
Will Prometheus be any good? We shall see!
Party on my friends!

Some of my favourites of recent times. I don't usually like the more traditional score writers like the ones you have mentioned. I think as a film score their material is far to cliched. Good but completely expected. I like soundtracks that are a bit more edgy & surreal.

Mine was one I cannot remember the name of but it belonged to the film "The Guns OF Navarone"
I also really really LOVED the original score for the first AIRPORT film , think it was the best part of that movie too !!!
LOL.
I also loved the score for Once Upon A Time In The West and Once Upon A Time in America, both directed by my all time fav director Sergio Leone and both were Ennio Morricone creations I think.
I loved Hans Zimmer's score for Ridley Scott's "Black Rain" as well, just loved it !!!
But 2 of the best all time I ever heard were "The Sting" by Marvin Hamlish and undoubtedly the Theme for JAWS by William Goldman !!!

Frantz you mentioned Michael Kamon
One of thing that Kills me is one year Roger Waters did a One Off Concert of "The Pros and Cons Of Hitchhiking album and the 2 guys who played on that album, Eric Clapton and Michale Kamon helped him recreate the exact sound from the album LIVE IN CONCERT, and I missed it !!!
KAMON is a freaking musical genius !!!
