When I was a kid, I used to imagine that the stories of ALIEN ‘79 and OUTLAND ’81, existed in the same “universe.” The two productions are so closely linked in “look,” production crew…and Jerry Goldsmith composed the musical score for both. I would love see what Ridley Scott’s version of OUTLAND would like. I can envision Dallas having to break up a fight caused by Parker and Brett, over a dancer/stripper…mixed up with a drugged out miner in the Leisure Club/Saloon at the mining colony CON AM 27 on Io (Eye-Oh). I still imagine that the ‘Nostromo’ crew, minus Ash, could’ve made shorter freight runs to Jupiter’s moon Io, to pick up and haul mineral ore back to earth or off-world…prior to their run-in with the “perfect organism.” Anyways…just a thought. I was wondering if any of you felt the same way. ~N

Yeah...I agree. I'm not saying those two films are on the same level...as far a quality. As much as I enjoy OUTLAND, ALIEN is no doubt superior. But, they remind me of each other. ~N

My favorite part on Outland is when the dude goes in the elevator with out a space suit. That was fascinating I thought people just froze in space cause it was so cold but I guess... how would they know?! it's always a good practice not to go to work high. Except if your a space train conductor...just keep the pee free handy in case of random whizz checks

Totally! I've always felt that these two movies existed in the same universe. I'm glad to read that other people have made this kind of "spiritual" connection between the two films. Perhaps Outland could be re-released on Blu-ray with the Weylan-Yutani logo digitally added to some of the scenes lol.

'Outland's title sequence, with the title gradually appearing out of space is another link. I like the film but wish the climactic battle had had rather more to it.

I realised a few years ago that the reason why I like Outland is because it could exist in the ALIEN universe, spot on Neurion
