MemberOvomorph12/22/2011If you check out the high def screen captures at aVpgalaxy, there's one in the 2nd row (i believe), where half the shot has a person in the foreground obscuring about a third of the view, with 2 people in the background around an examination table (obviously on the Prometheus), and right there, smack dab in the middle of the table (and screen cap) is a skull of an alien, which reminds me of the space jockey, but looks slightly different as no mouth/"trunk" can be seen. What do you guys think?

MemberOvomorph12/22/2011You know what, that does make more sense. The "head" just seemed too wide to be the SJ from Alien.

MemberOvomorph12/22/2011well is very similar to the one of alien ..and it seems the one that the two women are examining in one of the previous photos ...i think was the helmet of the suit that was a bit far off ...

MemberOvomorph12/22/2011This has been bandied about. It's the head of the jockey suit Shaw is examining in the ampule room.

Wondering why it looks very organic (even fossiled) in comparison to that technical appearance in the space jockey chair sequence and the whole set looks like a biological or medical laboratory instead of an engineers room for technical research.
It really could be that helmet wrapping around the jockeys head, but maybe also a dead skull which still comes from that mysterious alien race most of us hope to see approaching.
A lot of facts point into exactly another direction, but I really need more than a mutated human being and "humanoid gods". My whole fascination of ALIEN and the Space Jockey was all about an outer world race which is so very strange to ours that nobody could get a real imagination or would be immidiately grossed out (->reference to artwork of Giger).

MemberOvomorph12/22/2011Good work getting that close up posted. Looking at it on a real computer (as compared to my smart phone during the first viewing), it does appear that the design over the nose/mouth could very well be the top of the trunk apparatus, and it does seem to have a closed mouth beneath it...

MemberOvomorph12/22/2011amazing that I ID'd that thing on the first pass on the crappy first leaked cam trailer

MemberOvomorph12/22/2011Wow! lol keen freakin eyes! Was that the comicon one or the other one? I've been trying to find the comicon one for a while because, assuming I remember correctly, there were scenes in there that haven't been shown since...

MemberOvomorph12/23/2011it looks like a fossilized skull and lacks the padded look of the jockey helmet(with thick orbitals). and the reason it looks wide is probably because the space jockeys are large creatures.
some of my doubts are absolved.

MemberTrilobite12/23/2011Lets compare the two...
The Space Jockey head from Prometheus:

And the Space jockey head from Alien:

Looks like picture one is a skull, and picture two is a mummified bio-mechanical suit draped over the skull. Suggests to me that Space Jockeys are in fact an alien race.

MemberOvomorph12/23/2011it was the 1st leaked cam version of the teaser trailer, some where in these boards and posts I said it looks like two eye holes and is either a space helmet or an engineers head !!!
or something like that.
I just can't believe it really is that, and Ridley is having such massive BALLS to do all these new things and get everyone's minds jumping just like they are !!!
Believe me, he knew exactly what he was doing...and even better...as someone said first..."he's even invented a new art from, the Trailer For The Trailer" !!!
I am just so fucking impressed with this 70+ year old hero of mine more so than ever now and and after all these years of loving Alien and the franchise itself, of holding the prototype doll in my hands and my dad saying, "Trust me son, this is going to be huge"...and 33 years later here we are and the best is just around the corner...
Even though we've never met, and he and Giger know not of my paltry insignificant existence I feel as if they are both my own brothers, that they'll always know what to do to pick me up and put some more "zing" in life...They know how hungry my mind is/was and that my 50th Birthday present to myself is going to be seeing this film.
...I am so excited for this I do not know what I am going to do the night before it premiers here in Montreal, there is no way I will be sleeping, but rather I will more than likely be watching the film that started it all...and hyping myself up even more....until I "prolly" pass out in the theater with the 3D glasses falling off my face.
Is there anything on earth right now cooler than P R O M E T H E U S ?
I cannot explain it, but somehow for me, even though we're just talking about a movie,
It has become, fuck that... it IS, much much more than this.

MemberOvomorph12/23/2011I agree, Scott is the man... And i've been so obessed that my girlfriend says i should move in with the "space junkie" if im gona have it as the background image on my phone and computer lol but if thinking about Prometheus drives me this crazy, when Scott starts on the next movie in the Blade Runner universe, shit, i may not even have a life then.

MemberOvomorph12/23/2011In the recent Filmophelia article, Ridley states clearly he sees the fossilised Jockey image from Alien as a suit, whether it's fused to him or not (probably the former).
I'm not convinced we've seen the actual Jockey yet though...a someone has already pointed, why would they reveal that in the first trailer if at all? I think the humanoid is the "Igor" to the Jockey's "Prof. Frankenstein", and all the more interesting potentially.
