nah i got nothing....u tend to go to your favorite artists for this kinda thing...nothing PJ Harvey, Heather Nova or Tori Amos ever did....really fits in with this scenario....not even Depeche Mode ....tho if the thread was about songs u would like to hear on the soundtrack....then i could probably provide u with some....i was thinking a song like "where did we go wrong - Petula Clark" would suit a really violent scene quite well....i love it when they play a really calm and sad forlorn old classic song while their is all kinds of violence and blood shed going on.....Quentin Tarintino is really good at those....."bang bang - Nancy Sinatra" really suited the violence in Kill Bill....but it also kinda suited the story i suppose? But the song and the story does not even have to relate.....as long as the one sets a certain mood that completely contrasts with the other....that's when you get that perfect juxtaposition.....lol

Nine Inch Nails...."end of the world" off of the Fragile CD'S....

Gavin

MemberTrilobite12/24/2011
Nah... The wretched, same CD. "The Day The World Went Away" was used to promote Terminator Salvation.

That's perfectly acceptable Jux. Whatever songs you want to list and for whatever reasons is really okay. I think Tori Amos Crucify could fit somewhere maybe Shaw's theme.

That said Zero-Sum from the ""Year Zero" album would suit Prometheus perfectly... Nine Inch Nails Official website

Which album? The Fragile (Halo 14) is the continuation of The Downward Spiral (Halo 08). TDS was about a mans fall into hell, TF was the tale of the mans realisation, suffering and atonement. Year Zero is the realisation that in an inevitable dystopian future we will be held account by higher powers for the sins we have committed to ourselves and our planet.

The man behind Nine Inch Nails composed the music for the U.S. film adaption of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Here, he discusses composing the film's unsettling score, his early days making music in Cleveland and his work with Nine Inch Nails. To put it another way... The Downward Spiral is Inferno, The Fragile is Purgatory and an as yet unreleased album would be Paradise... Dante's Divine Comedy, which I also own.

@ Bio....Thanx!...someone who is fimiliar with even one of the artists i mentioned (very cool).....i got tuns of music....but i will have to really look to find the perfect song....so many...tho i will stick to what i said before....it just works so much better when their is a huge contrast between what u see and hear...not to many directors have caught on yet.....tho i have to say that they could not have chosen better trailer music....so their is acceptions to my little rule!....tho scores are different...they almost have to follow the plot and mood.

The Man you speak of Sparky is the reluctant genius known as (Michael) Trent Reznor. BTW Trent Reznor IS Nine Inch Nails, NIN is in essence a one man band. He did work on GWADT, as well as The Social Network with Atticuss Ross, which was his first score, of which he won an Oscar and Golden Globe for. He also did the score and SFX for id softwares Quake. His songs have been used in/for Se7en, Terminator Salvation, The Crow, Man On Fire, 300, to name but a few. He is probably the most influential artist of our generation, is partly responsible for the Marilyn Manson alter ego. He owns his own record label, the Null Corporation, is married to Mariqueen Maandig (whom along with Atticuss makes up the new band How To Destroy Angels), has a son called Lazarus and plays XBOX Live.

There is Only One Song for me that "reminds me of Prometheus"...This One... It was an April morning when they told us we should go As I turn to you, you smiled at me How could we say no? With all the fun to have, to live the dreams we always had Oh, the songs to sing, when we at last return again Sending off a glancing kiss, to those who claim they know Below the streets that steam and hiss, The devil's in his hole Oh to sail away, To sandy lands and other days Oh to touch the dream, Hides inside and never seen. Into the sun the south the north, at last the birds have flown The shackles of commitment fell, In pieces on the ground Oh to ride the wind, To tread the air above the din Oh to laugh aloud, Dancing as we fought the crowd To seek the man whose pointing hand, The giant step unfolds With guidance from the curving path, That churns up into stone If one bell should ring, in celebration for a king So fast the heart should beat, As proud the head with heavy feet. Days went by when you and I, bathed in eternal summers glow As far away and distant, Our mutual child did grow Oh the sweet refrain, Soothes the soul and calms the pain Oh Albion remains, sleeping now to rise again Wandering & wandering, What place to rest the search The mighty arms of Atlas, Hold the heavens from the earth The mighty arms of Atlas, Hold the heavens from the earth From the earth... I know the way, know the way, know the way, know the way I know the way, know the way, know the way, know the way Oh the mighty arms of Atlas, Hold the heavens from the earth. "Achilles Last Stand". Led Zeppelin!

I have no idea what song will remind me of "Prometheus" as I have yet to see it :-P I do, however, have 2 songs that always reminded me of the original Alien. The first one is "Space Oddity" by David Bowie. Musically it suits it perfectly for me and the song conveys such a dreaded sense of loneliness that it fits the feel of the movie. The whole idea of claustrophobia and being stranded out in space. The second song is a more odd choice. "New Horizons" from The Moody Blues. I really cannot put my finger on why but every time I listen to the song, it makes me think of the film. I think it has something to do with the cover of the album it comes from. and this was the original back cover

Ok this one is close enought....Pj Harvey - The piano. It is a dark and disturbing tune with a very interesting video....some sexual and religious undertones.......the lyric "oh god i miss u" is the horror of being all alone and "nobody's listening" reminds me of "In space no one can hear you scream" scenario from alien....it's a tortured and haunting track......that is the best i can come up with so far. But even if u think it does not relate well enough....that video is really something else! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpNxP7FcywY
