I enjoy movies and I buy many DvDs and Blu-Rays and have recently discovered torrentz.com and a little media player and the joy of down-loading.
I haven't been to a paid cinema for at least 8 years and have never seen a 3D movie.
I love the home cinema, where you can.....(drink and/or smoke what you like (if that's your poison) eat what you like, FF, REW, PAUSE, fart, speak, shout, screw, whatever!)
Home cinema, my preference,.......... but I have missed the 3D scene......what do you guys and girls think about 3D ......especially in Prometheus, based on past 3D efforts?
Is Scott on a winner with this or is he going down the Avatar Rabbit Hole?

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012I agree ..it is nice to sit at home and drink ,smoke and fart and pause when ever u feel like it....rewind and re-watch a scene or whatever. I often wait for the dvd release instead of watching the movie at a cinema.
With a monumental release like Prometheus I would definitely prefer to see it at a cinema...especially in 3d!
The only movie I have seen in 3d is Avatar....I loved it...not just the 3d but also the movie...so much so that i watched it again in 3d a week later!
I don't get people's hatred for Avatar...I thought it was great...not the best movie I ever saw...but certainly in the top 10!.....so why do so many people view it so negatively?

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012i didnt love much avatar ... i just dont like the overused cliches ... at the end i rooted for the military !! To make you like the "switch" of the character from one world to another it had to go much deeper ( a better try was made with dance with the wolves ) ... the new age things , stereotypes and the continue winks to a teen audience have irritated me ( like Jurassic Park 2 ).
Of course it deserve to be view but honestly i watched it only one time .
It lacks to me true sensibility , moral decisions , depth and the needed romanticism to be a great movie .

mmmmh...yeay I guess the story could have been a whole lot deeper...but I did not find it as shallow as some make it out to be...certainly not Cameron's best achievement...(not as good as Aliens)...it did offer tuns of excitement and amazing special effects...I suppose I was'nt really expecting much more?...besides the story and acting was'nt that bad!
...as far as 3d is concerned...at the time it was released it was by far the most amazing 3d out their...so the fact that Prometheus is gonna use post avatar 3d technology gets me very excited!

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012juxta,
I will be at the first sceening of Prometheus, even at mid-night, and I have brided my wife-o to be with me to watch it .......she reakons she hates it, (too dark, neative) though she watched it with me last week on Blu-Ray...........can you believe this ......it's true .....my first date with my now wife was in China Town, Little Bourke St. Melbourne at a Chinese Restaurant in1979, where we had Beef in Black Bean Sauce and then we went to the pictures to see Alien at it's opening weekend!!!!
I can still remember the scene where Ripley and Dallas are slowly searching the medical room after the face-hugger has disappeared from who-ever........and that bastard (though brilliant) Scott does the ulitmate scare..........he trips over a jerry can for no other reason.......than to scare the shit out of the whole auidence..........the whole fucking auduice screams and sreacres........and EVERYONE pops out of there seats........into the next........and that's how I found my dear lady wife!
I love Alien
I love Blade Runner
I Love The Duellist
I Love The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo
And who has seen "Tree of Life".....and what do you think?

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012dont jack the movie and watch it in your living room... support Sir Ridley, get your arses out there and snag some tickets.. round up all the boys/girls and buy them tickets. I dunno about you but I hope it does well enough to grip Mr Scott into another film... Prometheus 2 (without Cameron ;-) and without turning it into a "popcorn" teenage attraction with poor follow up films. like ressurection or the avp crappolas)

MemberOvomorph01/9/2012I for one will be at the first screening of Prometheus, even at mid-night, and I have bribed my wife-o to come with me June the 8th .......she reckons she hates it, (too dark, negative and horrid, which I like) though she did watch it again with me last week on Blu-Ray and thought Ripley was great.
Can you believe this ......it's true .....my first date with my now wife was in China Town, Little Bourke St. Melbourne at a Chinese Restaurant in1979, where we had Beef in Black Bean Sauce and then we went to the pictures to see Alien on it's opening night!!!!
I can still remember the scene where Ripley and Dallas are slowly searching the medical room for the face-hugger after it had disappeared from Kane’s face........and that bastard (I say affectionately) Scott does the ultimate scare..........he has a jerry can fall over for no reason.......other than to scare the shit out of the whole audience..........the whole fucking theatre screams and screeches........and EVERYONE lifts out of their seats in shock........into the next.....that was heart attack material.....suspense plus..... my missus ended up in my lap despite the arm rest between us ...and that's how I found my dear lady wife!........and she’s never forgiven me!
Scott’s best films IMO are Alien, Blade Runner and The Duellists

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012I actually prefer the brightness and crystal clarity of a good 2D image over the relative dimness and slight blurriness of current 3D. IMO, too much of 3D in its' present iteration looks like multiple flat 2D planes overlaying each other to provide an illusion of 3D, rather than true volumetric images with natural parallax.

MemberOvomorph01/10/2012The 3D Prometheus is using has been used by one other film only...Avatar. The 3d in Avatar was top notch and surprisingly easy to watch....which cannot be said for the movie itself....which wasn't. Again, the 3D was light years ahead of anything used on the stupid Resident Evil film, The horrible Alice in Wonderland crap or the amazing (not the 3d part) Piranha 3D
This movie is filmed in this format so it will not fall into your "multiple flat 2D planes overlaying each other to provide an illusion of 3D, rather than true volumetric images with natural parallax." category.
