MemberOvomorph01/26/2012Hi Guys, I Know that is too early to talk about it because we still don't know if Prometheus specializing to most of the questions of the first movie, but I would like to know what you think on the matter.
PS: also I would like to know if you think it would be possible that Prometheus becomes a new trilogy, canon or spin-off...

MemberOvomorph01/26/2012iv read that ridley scott states the last 10 mins of prometheus will turn into alien dna, so im guessing there won't be a sequel. i hope im wrong lol

MemberOvomorph01/26/2012Yes, but on the other side I would like that this movie was the prequel of the prequel of Alien the eighth passenger. In Prometheus an introduction to the world of the jockeys and the xenomorphs (ancestors) prototype versions... and in the sequel to the story of the derelict jockey and the xenomorphs...also do not know how much life will bring this new movie.
and if the jockeys are creations of something more big?

check out the link for possible storyline, could be fake but some parts fit in with the trailer.
with the scene in the trailer showing the space jockey in his chair very similar to in alien i can't see how they'd fit another film in. lets hope the movie is about 3 hours long

MemberOvomorph01/26/2012Perhaps there could be two "pre-Alien" films. That's not to say they would be directly linked like
Prometheus > Film After Prometheus > Alien
as it looks like it will be
Prometheus > Alien
But perhaps RS can/will make a second "pre-Alien" film like
Prometheus > Alien > Aliens > etc.
^
Film After Prometheus > ??? (suppose someone else takes the reins from RS)
What I'm getting at is that RS can make two films that are related to Alien, but these two films do not necessarily have to relate to one another. Think of a Quentin Tarantino film with its disjointed narrative--I think it would be possible to expand that narrative structure into more than one film. For example, the Film After Prometheus could take place during the events of Prometheus, but with a completely different cast in a completely different locale.
Fall down seven times, get up eight.

MemberOvomorph01/26/2012Ridley did say the last 10 minutes would look like Alien DNA, witch could mean that it would go right into Alien, but I am hoping that it sets up for a second "prequel". I know some movies do that but they all escape me now, please help me. Come on second movie.

MemberOvomorph01/27/2012According to I read they do 2 prequels but then chose to decant all-in-one. Although to my gives me the impression that the FOX so much land to give green light to a sequel, i.e. that they are waiting to see how it collects this plicula... but of course is just my subjective opinion fueled by my wishes have ideals...
Best regards

MemberOvomorph01/28/2012I've been using a gauge between conflict and sexuality (two most interesting elements from Greek mythos) to try and guess where Ridley is going but was looking at it from the perspective of Prometheus alone.
I'm tempted now to shift the gauge away from conflict and meet halfway with sexuality because the current timeline is looking much shorter than it could be and the whole name of the film suggests it's going to be a small pinch from Greek mythos.
My current take is that Prometheus will 1) explain and finalize the story/sexual aspect of Alien; 2) introduce new sexual overtones; 3) reveal a greater conflict in the universe.
Where the sequel could be like a battle for the cosmos, war between the "Gods", etc.
Whether humanity is really involved in the first film is another matter. I don't see any hints of a Lucas/Cameron-style theme where the humans and aliens communicate to each other or fight with/against each other. I think Ridley is deliberately making us "observers" this time, much like the people that wrote the biblical texts. We'll create our own problems and mischief, but it will end up being inconsequential to the bigger picture. Sure, humanity will be under threat as per the Fox synopsis, but so will everything.
At least that's what I think will happen.
