Any connection between symbols on head and SJ pods?

hahaha thats the internet for you :) They would have known before posting these images that someone, [i]somewhere[/i] would try deciphering the text ! could there be all sorts of cleverly hidden easter eggs there.. Thats what I would have done if I were them.

I agree Centurian. It is our job to find those Easter Eggs.

So looking at this picture, I have to ask the very obvious question: Why are you looking for easter eggs in the symbols instead of gawking at the first clear look we've gotten at that bio-mechanic humanoid figure standing and holding something next to what seems to be the "pilot" chair, which is unoccupied!! That figure looks the right size in perspective with the chair, as opposed to the humans that look small as hell next to it. Looks like maybe that's our "Space Jockey", and like it's about to climb into the chair, molding into it or some shit, which would confirm that the elephant-looking thing we saw in Alien was actually a suit. Thoughts?

I'm already past the point of believing this guy IS the space jockey. Furthermore I believe he is already infected with whatever is going to burst out of him. He is being 'driven' to do what he is doing by whatever is inside him. It is beyond his control. Yes, he will connect with the sexually amorphous bio-suit, thanks to HR Giger, and complete the next phase of the life cycle. What was the image on the original Alien poster? The egg that started it all. What's on this poster? Ridley knows what he's doing. I think we will see the SJ as the facilitator of the needs of a greater entity. The mystery of that greater entity will remain, and so it should. But, I digress.... how about them symbols....?

Yeah, the SJ is old news in that pic. As for the symbols, they're definitely the same language, whatever their purpose is. Beyond that, we don't know, unless it's actually based off something like Sanskrit and can be translated, which I think is unlikely.

The writing in the top picture definitly looks like cuneiform, which is the oldest written language found on Earth circa 3,000BC I think. That would tie in with the fact the SJ's had something to do with our planet being "seeded" perhaps. . .

Lyle, I agree with you on cuneiform, it was a stylus written language, But it actually went back 6,000years BC. I'm not taking away from the Sumerians they're curently the oldest known civilization that lived on earth, and alot of laws we currently have are derived from Sumerian Law. Thanks Rick. Fascinating! Those ancient tablets you point to are indeed very similar to the symbols on the SJ pods and face. So glad you pointed that out. Awesome! This is just the right amount of complementing information (SJ pods + head symbols), that I would expect from a Ridley Scott movie dealing with 'ancient aliens'. God...Only 128 more days.... I'm going to burst...LOL...

What I'm curious about is does he exit from one of those pods?! And does the pod hold some sort of significance to preparing him for the chair?! @Rick, you might be right either way. I do find it interesting that the blue guy has lots of similarities to whatever the humanoid is in that old Giger painting! If that is so then I'm happy that Sir Ridley is making use of some of Giger's unused work done during the time of ALIEN. Prometheus could really end up being amazingly throw back awesome and refreshingly new at the same time!

GF, You know I'm seeing the referential curve to the derelict in the upper right of the pic. a xeno head in the upper left in the background, numerous egg references through out the painting, the tendrils are very reminiscent of the facehugger fingers, and the what looks like torso's coming up out of the center so remind me of Ripley 1-7 in A:R Regards, Rick

In the writing, i think there is some sort of code. A language is based on different symbols, or letters, repeating themselves in order to be identified as words. As this symbol repeats, i suppose we could assume it is a language, but in order to decipher ot we need more symbols.

And also i found it is not cuneiform. Cuneiform creates wedge shaped writing, there are circles in this writing. Perhaps our awesome Elizabeth Shaw can enlighten us... In over 100!days!

That Giger painting spelt out the idea of Prometheus the titan for me long before the film was ever named that , for some reason

Isn't that the head of a space jockey like the one in alien, in the pod below the blue guy? looks to me that's a translucent window toward the right end of the pod, and inside that I think it looks like the head of the jockey in alien, with it's large mouth open. Is it just me?

@BellaisanAlien, I'm now having second thoughts, but that area seemed to me to be where the head of someone inside one of those pods would be.

PFTW, I'm joking when I say the following. Obviously someone didn't read all the posts. I wont point fingers :P But I did post a link to a Sumerian Tablet that is the very first Cuneiform writing and it clearly shows on the tablet a big ol' fat circle on it. On a serious note. Cuneiform does not have to be 100% wedges it only needs to make up the major portion of the written language, thus allowing circles and other forms to be present. These can be used as keys in deciphering the language. But the upside down V with the circle above it is clearly stolen from Stargate. Also English is from left to right Sumerian is I think starts on the right and go down and to the left. Regards, Rick

After second look at the face the language on the right cheek (our left) and the writing on the other side are completely different. Now I am no fan of mixing Aliens with Predator but the 3 pronged star shape 3rd row down is clearly a Predator symbol. Maybe Ridley will reference them in the movie but not make them a part of it, or he blatantly stole it in Mockery, or maybe he's paying Homage to those movies. Stargate was a good sci-fi and so was the original Predator.

Hey Guys, Pretty cool observations. For me, I think the PROMETHEUS hieroglyphics look charmingly like “so called” Angelic or Celestial script. It has kind of simple mathematical geometric characters, rather than more stylistic or artistic scripts like Arabic, Asian, Phoenician, etc…scripts. Neurion - a very interesting tablet - thanks for posting that! The styles are incredibly similar. I believe you are right. Since Ridley has said this movie will be "epic", and deals with the origins of mankind etc... it makes sense to use 'glyphs' that conjure up our pre-history and the early celestial dieties. I'm sure the glyphs we see are totally made up... but somewhere deep in the bowels of this incredible production, someone has a key to what these glyphs mean ... it might even be a poke at all of us nerds and it says "beware - space jockey inside"..... well, this is what I noticed about the runes on the sarcophagus pod so far. I copied out the runes as we can see in the following two images and well, I suppose I'm a bit curious about them still despite some of them looking like American football posts and baseball stumps.
