GavinFebruary 01, 2012I have the boxset but have only seen the first two and one of the others (can't remember which).
The antagonist Sil was actually designed by Giger, and the whole sexual element of the movie fits well with Gigers work. In the first one your really felt that there was this monster that wanted to consentually rape you so it could take over the world. But the sequels just became an excuse to show some skin and sex scenes which was a real shame, although there was the male version that appeared in 2, but it came over as OTT.
The first I felt was a really good and clever film, I especially like it when the little girl cocoons herself on the train and emerges as Natasha Henstridge. but sequel by sequel it lost its core and became badly acted sci-fi erotica.
A slightly arty alternative is Splice starring Adrien Brody.
