WHAT collision?

I keep seeing references to a collision (between the Prometheus and the SJ ship). I've seen the trailer and the explosion surrounding what sure does look like the SJ ship, but I just don't see any other ship in the shot. Maybe the ship lands vertically and has an incident while taking off, and that's where we get the crash and the derelict we all know laying on the ground. Aliens and even facehuggers have stowed away and crashed ships before.

@skyguy1054: I agree, I've never seen anything suggesting a collision with another ship in that shot either. We won't know for sure why there was an explosion around the sj ship and why it fell from the sky until June.

If this is during the last part of film i say it has to do with the chest burst of SJ in chair. They keep saying that during last part we get a good dna of alien connection.

If you look at the trailer towards then end when the derelict is rolling on over you can see pieces of the prometheus burning strewn along the ground. They also match up nicely with some of the early production stills released on AICN this past July.

If it's not a collision (which IMO it most likely is) perhaps it could be that the Prometheus is inside of the Derelict and explodes through a 'self-destruct' sequence. Perhaps 'VIckers' and 'Shaw' escape just before the Derelict traps the Prometheus????...............

Ok Batman mode is on... Vickers running towards the escape pod is because Janis is about to slam into the derelict, as evidenced by the shot where it looks like he is yelling "ARRRRRRRGH!!!" flying straight into it. And again, the debris of the ship on the ground as Vickers and Shaw are bolting for safety is a giveaway. That's my take on it anyways

....whatever the case may be...it looks like Vickers is in a great deal of an hurry to get of the Prometheus...even getting undressed as she runs...so either she's making her way to a space toilet and she's got the runs..lol....or it is what it appears to be ...most likely an escape pod... maybe the Prometheus is set for self destruction or on a collision course with the space croissant?

Janis? Janis??? Who the f**** is Janis??? lol Don't you mean Janek? Janis is a woman's name. I hope this is the only explosion in this film and there's a good reason behind it. I don't want to see a finale with bombast and kaboooommm and "let's get the hell ouuttaa herrreee!!!" lol., Please......

Hmm. . . This has been really working my brain but that explosion we see with the Derelict, it cannot be the Prometheus causing or being part of it as you would clearly see it. The Derelict is a hugeeee ship but the Prometheus looks pretty big aswell, probably half the size maybe?? I think the Derelict was launching and something happened after it got going. . .

Oh yeah, in that same scene where JANEK :-P is yelling, there's a guy sitting off to his right in the background that I noticed this morning. Looks like he's in a seat in front of a console on the ship....... Just something I saw while being obsessed :-D
