Alien DNA
MemberOvomorph02/16/2012io9.com has a very extensive article about the Space Jockeys which includes a comment that the original script by O'Bannon featured a pyramid depicting hieroglyphs of the Jockeys making sacrifices to and worshipping the Xenos.
Article can be viewed here; scroll down to "The Space Jockey temple you never saw" section. There's the Giger pic of the alien life cycle with the Jockeys that's been posted everywhere and what looks like an excerpt from a magazine quoting ideas from the original draft.

I've read quite a few discussions theorizing that the Space Jockeys and the Engineers may not be the same species, or that the Jockeys may be benign puppets of another race. Could it be that the Gods are some form of Xeno, and the Jockeys are they're worshippers or some other situation similar to this?

MemberOvomorph02/16/2012By the way if anyone can point out what I did wrong with BBCode link I'll be glad to fix it. Already tried to once and the link disappeared and highlighted the last paragraph, D'oh!

MemberOvomorph02/16/2012Thank you good Sir. I'm not an idiot, but I don't post too much. Reading up on BBCode right now and how it works so as not to run into this again.

MemberOvomorph02/16/2012I think it's totally possible that they've resurrected some of the first Alien's original ideas. I'm definitely a supporter of the separate species theory, there was a quote at one time taken from one of the box sets where Ridley said something like "looking forward to returning to this world full of space Jockeys, aliens, and something even more dangerous you haven't seen yet"... *paraphrasing, maybe someone can find the quote
Way back there was also talk about a pyramid set being built and transported somewhere for this movie.
I'm seeing Egyptian themes popping up everywhere in what we've seen of the film so far, as well as some Sumerian links. That idea is out there that the Aliens were somehow able to gain intelligence eventually in the life cycle you're describing.
The sacrificial part of it has a certain edge to it that I like, it could be related to the bizarre rituals of the Egyptians, and the ritual sacrifices done by Sumerians, Bablyonians and the ancient Hebrew tribes, modelling themselves after their "gods" who were once on Earth according to alien astronaut theory. I think the human-like blue guys will have a lot in common with us, or ancient cultures that Shaw will notice, but they'll be somewhat following the old ways even though they have the high bio-tech developed for them by this separate species that they may worship in a way.

MemberOvomorph02/17/2012@habidm I think you're right. And I bet the Spacejockey's/Engineers (who are the same) totally manipulate them..... I just *know* corporate greed is going to do this bunch in! lol

Xenophobe
MemberOvomorph02/17/2012I've touched on this subject previously aswell. All this rumour and talk has been on the SJ being some kinda God like species, with their massive spaceships etc. But surely a creature as pure and "deadly" as the Xenomorph would be considered more God like?? I mean it does ANYTHING to survive it's given habitat, can reproduce in god knows how many ways, doesn't give in to it's emotions in any scenario. I'd personally class that as more deity based. . .

MemberOvomorph02/18/2012Okay, here's the scoop
Prometheus stole fire from Zeus, and gave it to man, for his punishment Prometheus was stricken with never ending pain and suffering by Zeus
The Prometheus spaceship and crew, humans/androids stumbles upon an unknown lifeform/power/biochemical enterity and try and take it for themselves, all looks good for a while, thinking that they have found the new beginning to evolve mankind
They think that they succeeded but are unaware that the keepers (space jockies) are watching their every move.
While man tries to experiment with their new found bounty, they start a chain of reactions that starts a chain of terrifying events that scare the space jockies into a panic who then unleash their "dogs" to prevent the Prometheus from escaping.
Because not all beings on the Prometheus are human, (remember Bishop/Ash) there is hope that the Space Jockies will call off their 'dog" if what ever was taken is returned......
They return what was taken and as punishment all that man touched is destroyed except the androids that the Space Jockies keep to study.....
Unknowing to the Space Jockies the human androids have the ability to send to earth the discovery and events that occued, earth activate the human androids into sending the so called distress signal..........
The signal is intercepted by the Nostromos
BTW
I'm only guessing, just like the rest of you
