Where was the Xenomorph having Acid Blood first referenced?

I know in Alien the face hugger has acid blood and it's said to be a defense mechanism, but I don't seem to remember that particular film showing the Xeno to have acid blood or being mentioned, maybe it's just naturally assumed to have the same biology as the hugger. In Aliens during Ripley's inquisition in the beginning of the film she states that it had acid for blood. I guess my real question is whether Ridley intended the Xeno to have acid blood or just the face hugger. I know most of you have a much more vast knowledge on the facts of the films and might know something about this or if I missed something in Alien that references the Xeno having acid blood aside from the face hugger. While were on Aliens some things I noticed while watching it is that Burke seems to imply that the company has recently gotten into terraforming while Ripley has been in cryo for 50something years and he explains it to her as if it's something new to her, even the "Building Better Worlds" slogan. Terraforming is a big theme, timeline wise anyways, of Weyland Corp.. Wouldn't this conflict with Prometheus just slightly?

They assume the xeno has acid blood in alien, it's implied in the first sweep of LV426, but not confirmed till drake gets sprayed.

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

I never thought about the second part of your question re: terraforming, but you've brought up and interesting issue. Wasn't it at some point that Ridley or someone working on the film said that we can really only consider Alien and only parts of Aliens when watching Prometheus or is that just forum speculation? Sorry kind of a newbie, haha.

As for question 2. They had developed the tech prior to Alien, but if the process takes decades, then they haven't gotten that many colonies terraformed even by the time Ripley thaws out.

The Alien having acid for blood is assumed in Alien and implied in Aliens but in the Alien book/screenplay, one of the scenes that didn't make it into the movie expressly shows the alien having acid for blood. The scene involves Parker after he goes to refill the flamethrower and he comes across the Alien checking out the lights in the airlock. He contacts Ripley and Lambert on the bridge to shut the inner door to the airlock and blast the Alien into space. Ash overhears this conversation and sets of one of the ships klaxon sirens and spooks the Alien. The airlock door is closing as the Alien is running away and it tears one of it's limbs off breaching the hull. It's a pretty cool scene, one that I wish would have made it into the movie. I guess it would have meant showing too much of the Alien though. As for the second question, I agree with Myrddin365 - this tech was there prior to Alien but takes decades - as explained by Van Luen in Aliens.

I remember that scene in the book! I wish it had been filmed. Then the alien would have a regenerative capability too! It actually surprised me when I thought about how long it was until they actually showed a full grown xeno definitely bleeding acid.

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

Okay thanks for the clarification, I wasn't sure if it was something that had been added in by James Cameron. It's too bad that scene with Parker wasn't something that was filmed and then added back in for the directors cut so we could see it.

as for the terraforming, there was'nt much info in the alien universe about how long it takes to terraform, in reality it would take some serious time, but in "Aliens" the head board guy was refering it to a "Shake an Bake" colony....we all know how quick, simple an timely shake an bake chicken takes, too easy....an I am pretty sure there were mulitple projects going on, seeing as how even in "alien" you have massive ships to transport minerals an such....even in "Aliens" you have a savage ship out an about patrolling around for profit.....if there is one thing that humans are good at, its EXPANDING in a short relative time, throw some interstellar engines in the mix an you got humans EVERYWHERE.

Doesn't Parker in "Alien" say "you don't dare kill" it, because it has acid blood??
