MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 5:12 PMthe jumping guy thats all rabid that they shoot flames at is VERY NOT XENO..hes rabid and zombie esque..but the xenos are very distinct they come from eggs then they come from inside you..there is somthing all together different happening with these people...somthing infects them...a gas or somthing that makes their flesh look quite zombie ish and then they start hunting down other members of the crew BRAAAAIIIINNNNSSSS are we sure ridley didnt go ahead and decide to make a zombie movie in space due to the popularity of that particular genre
the xenomorphs are vastly different with a huge tail and a hugely elongated head with back tentacles and a mouth inside a mouth there is no way these people are transforming into "the first xeno"...that doesnt mean the alien wont be in the movie but ridley scott said it will be near the end
for all we know the crew gets hit with green goblin gas

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 5:29 PMI believe what Shaw gives birth to might be different, perhaps the starting point that leads to the creation of the Egg, face hugger. In Alien, it took on the form of Kane and the Space Jockey, according to Scott and the book, Alien: Vault. I guess we are going to see it in the original form or the form after it has infected the Space Jockey's..coming out big and nasty...

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 5:46 PMThere's nothing new under the sun so it wouldn't surprise me if we notice the ideas in this movie can be found somewhere else. I mean of all the speculating we have been doing nothing is really new. Someone can always seem to cite a movie , book, comic, or TV show that has a similar premise.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 5:53 PMyeah ive heard that cynicism before in the form nothings origional...its partly true but still pretty cynical

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 5:56 PMEvery writer borrows from other writers, artists and so forth, whether it be consciously or unconsciously...it all matter on how you can deliver and what form. In a way that people have never seen before.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 6:02 PMnot exactly there are people that come up with origional ideas everyday..but yeah when it comes to HOLLYWOOD ideas and themes are "borrowed" all the time...but even in then there are origional ideas that happen...TRUE a lot of things are rip offs or copy cats and not origional at all..but there still are decent original ideas
i mean how about getting blood from mosquitos encased in fossilized amber and using super computers with gene sequences to clone dinosaurs? lol seriously
take the design of the xeno that giger made up....absolutely an original monster

Biomechanic
MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 6:12 PMJurassic Park was based on scientific theory not a Hollywood idea and it could be said that Giger's grotesque creatures were inspired to some extent from old surrealists like Hieronymus Bosch. I am just saying one can point to similarities in everything.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 6:15 PMit was based on a book the movie was a film adaptation of a book...alright if we could keep the post on topic

Biomechanic
MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 6:17 PMThe book was based on a scientific theory jeez. Fine you don't want to talk about it anymore. I am out.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 6:27 PMWell guys, I hate to burst bubbles, but as much as I love 'Jurassic Park', it wasn't exactly an original idea........Michael Crichton wrote the script for 'Westworld' in the 70's and that's a film about a lavish, unique theme park in which things go entirely awry, off the deep end, etc. and the attractions (robotic humans in this case) begin to attack and kill the park goers...Crichton simply surplanted his robots with dinosaurs in the early 90's, sold the movie writes the second his book was published and there you have it, an awesome if, admittedly, unoriginal film.....

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 7:38 PMRidley did not say at any point in time that the original Alien would be at the end of the film! He has said there will not be a xeno in Prometheus. @20thcenturybuick, where did you get this notion from? Can you point to a quote at a web site where Ridley says this explicitly? I think you're just fantasizing again.

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 8:24 PMClarifications here people....Ridley Did not say the xeno would be seen near the end. He Did say that will will see the 'DNA of 'Alien'' in the last eight minutes.....he seems to be referring to the film as a whole rather than the creature specifically; it's apparent this is clear in the context of his statement and the subject to which he is responding.....

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 9:19 PMI have to respond to the comments regarding originality...guys, please remember, ALIEN was original in my eyes, it set the standard for sci fi horror, in spite of what the cast and director say, PROMETHEUS is a continuation and possibly the origination of the lore that we all love...even if we were to see a continuation of the same concepts that were in the original movie- I would freakin love it because of Sir Ridleys involvement...I have a feeling the xenomorphs ,that I still have nightmares about, are only one of many possible lifeforms that the green goo in the trailers gives rise to...I bet its a primordial ooze of sorts that violently overtakes existing life and causes hideous mutations, maybe as a consequence or result or security measure for violating the sanctity of the god's/engineer's temple...once again, something we brought on ourselves...as Shaw says in the trailer "we were wrong, we were so wrong"....if this is a true prequel, this may involve wormholes and such, and may explain how weyland gains knowledge of such advanced technologies, I am only speculating, but there seems to be the constant pursuit by weyland yutani of more of these creatures and more of this technology....this may be where they learn to terraform.....so the concepts are original, its only been three decades since Sir Ridley returned to this material....may he never leave it again!!!!!!!! sorry if I got off topic....I thought the topic was PROMETHEUS...see ya at the theater

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 9:27 PMyeah lets keep on topic i dont want to debate the nature of art...jesus christ..obviously artists and writers and production companies steal from one another and borrow ideas..its fucking common sense..that being said that doesnt mean there arent any origional fucking ideas out there..thats fucking idiotic
back to the topic...ridley never said anything about seeing an aliens dna in the last 8 minutes he said that near the end the film would reveal a connection to the origional alien
and he didnt say DNA of alien he said a PROGENITOR OF THE ALIEN..that doesnt mean the dna it means the descendant

Biomechanic
MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 9:29 PMWell think you got that debate asking this: "are we sure ridley didnt go ahead and decide to make a zombie movie in space due to the popularity of that particular genre"

MemberOvomorphFeb-27-2012 9:50 PM@20thcenturybuick...Ridley Scott stated in the Wall Street Journal, dated 11/07/11, "The last eight minutes of the “Prometheus” story evolve into “a pretty good DNA of the ‘Alien’ one.” - you can read that here The Wall Street Journal
He stated in the Filmophobia article, dated 12/17/11, and I qoute, "By the end of the third act you start to realize there’s a DNA of the very first alien, but none of the subsequent aliens. To tell you what that is is a pity, and I’m not going to tell you, because it’s actually pretty good, pretty organic to the process and to the original. But we go back, we don’t go forward." - that can be found on our forum, here Ridley Scott's Filmophobia Article
