MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 5:26 PMjust read that PROMETHEUS is getting the IMAX treatment, which for me
is both GOOD and BAD news, i have yet to see a film that has been converted
to IMAX after the fact that just looks like a regular film shown on an IMAX
screen, rather than it looking as convincing as a film that was initially filmed
using the unique IMAX process
i mean, i don't want to be too negative not having seen the film,
but i had hoped against hope that Scott would have the foresight
to film PROMETHEUS in proper IMAX to begin with
unless of course, the process of converting / formatting a film
shot in regular format, then converted to IMAX has been perfected
to the point that i can not distinguish it from a true and proper IMAX
film....?
in any case,
i am slightly bummed to find this out. ah well...

MemberXenomorphMar-08-2012 7:48 PMI saw Mission Impossible in 3D IMAX the effects we're fricken crazy. Man I would camp at Prometheus to see it 2-3 times in IMAX 3D. I know I will see something completely different each time

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 8:03 PMreally? the last film i saw in IMAX 3D was Tron:Legacy,
i wasn't impressed at all by the standard to IMAX transfer that was done
same goes for the film "300"
i was however blown away by the trailer for "Born To Be Wild"
IMAX film, which was shot in true IMAX format, i was shocked
at just how lifelike it looked, and the genuine depth of field it
conveyed on that large screen
the friend i saw it with explained to me that is how
Avatar looked, sadly, i didn't see Avatar on the big screen
if MI:4 looked as good as you say,
then perhaps they have made leaps and bounds in the IMAX
film transfer process. i will definitely see PROMETHEUS
in both Real3D, as well as IMAX 3D, i wouldn't want to miss
out in case the IMAX transfers is exceptional
i do wonder if Titanic will look as great
as i'm hoping it will now that it has been giving the 3D treatment?
something to look forward to....!

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 8:13 PMIt's official. It's on IMAX. I'm going to NY to see this movie.
IMAX Prometheus Release
"The IMAX release of Prometheus will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX 3D Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie."
They are using the latest Red Epic 3-D cameras on Prometheus. Red Epic allows for a very fast frame rate (100 to 300 fps) in low light giving extremely sharp digital resolution. The transfer to IMAX will be incredible!

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2012 9:38 PMthanx for the clarification Nephilim_LV426,
i'm going to keep hope alive that the IMAX processing will blow all our minds
if that is the case, i can only imagine how the red-lasers
scene, and the orrery scene will look with that hi-tech process,
not to mention the rest of this epic looking film (ssssssssigh)

MemberOvomorphMar-09-2012 9:24 AMJust told my mates it won't be in IMAX as it was not advertised... Might wait for the US reviews before booking here if possible but may have to chance it as your bound to see release before the UK even though it was filmed over here
