What is your favorite Ridley Scott movie other than Alien? Mine, G.I. Jane.

'Bladerunner'............to follow up 'Alien' with anything as powerfully distopian or systemically authentic as this film, it would almost seem ludicrous had it not been so. This singular vision of man's crumbling grip on himself as much the world around him, in the person of his creations is beyond the reverence I give it.

I want to like that movie soooooo bad. I've seen several cuts and I just can't get into it. I can appreciate the film and the look, just not my favorite film.

To me...that unease is what makes it work. 'Bladerunner' looks at where we are going and sees where our nature's taking us, where we we can't help but go.

I liked GI Jane. For those who are preferential to Blade Runner, I can't blame you, because sci-fi is Sir Ridley's specialty. You know what I want to see him work on? A movie adaptation of Killzoneā„¢. He ought to tackle a motion picture depiction of how the Helghast game to be. Original credit to this idea goes to my friend, but personally I can see Sir Ridley making a Killzoneā„¢ movie, and I'm totally supportive of this idea.

Black Hawk Down would be my fave. Enjoyed Gladiator back in the day, but can barely remember it now. And I've only recently seen Blade Runner (Final Cut) but it reminded me how susceptable Scott's films are to being too ambiguous and drawn out. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the story or atmosphere, it's just the first time I've ever sympathized with the studios' editing decisions.

What I love about Scott and the way he made Alien and Bladerunner, movies that are more than 30yrs old is that they hold up exceptionally well today specifically the effects. No CGI back then. It wasn't all about computer animation.

To me, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven. He is just a great director!

In a few months I wish I could say: Prometheus, with Alien being second best.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born. Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

My all time favorite Scott's film is still ALIEN. I saw all ALIEN movies, this one is the one that stands tall as truly unforgettable cinematic experience. The rest: BLADE RUNNER Visionary, mysterious, cryptic, but would benefit from a little bit plot details & development, unfortunately plagued with budget & other production issues. Harrison Ford poo-pooed the project in public. GLADIATOR After this movie, everybody who said "Sword & Sandal" movies were laughable relic of Hollywood past would have difficulty swallowing their words. Nobody in Hollywood has come close to Scott's visual splendor. TROY is goofy. 300 is entertaining but geared towards video game crowd. The okay KING ARTHUR & the muddled ALEXANDER are close rivals but not as rousing as Scott's Roman epic. BLACK HAWK DOWN Uncompromising look at modern warfare. Scott is saying war is no place for a bleeding heart idealist like Josh Hartnett character. I wish the Eric Bana character, the most traditionally heroic type, is fleshed out more, showing his darker side, penchant for brutality perhaps. ROBIN HOOD & KINGDOM OF HEAVEN: these are like GLADIATOR's sister movies, pure visual candy. I prefer KOH, but Scott should pick older "sturdy as oak" leading man instead of pretty boy Legolas for the hero protagonist. Either Fox wants Legolas, or Scott is saying that Jerusalem falls because of pretty boy Legolas. He went back with Russell Crowe as ROBIN HOOD, and box office doubles instantly, LOL! The fight in the snowy forrest near the beginning of KOH is pure bliss for me, a big fan of medieval warfare. A fantastic sequence, full of crafty details. The casting of Orlando Bloom, and the epic staging of siege warfare (kinda like the one in TWO TOWERS) reference Tolkien war stories..for a reason not entirely clear to me. In ROBIN HOOD, Scott references the Normandy beach scene in SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. Also for a reason unknown to me. I don't think he did it to pay tributes to Spielberg. 1492: Scott's penchant for medieval visual here is outstanding. The story is un-involving, and jumps all over the place. I heard there is a 4-hr cut. Depardieu accent is way too thick. But there are many great performances by other actors: Assante, Wincott, Margolis, Langella seem to belong to that era. Weaver is majestic but too modern in her delivery. BLACK RAIN: Superb camera work, moody cinematography I am always excited for in Scott's movies. Micael Douglas is perfect for this flawed anti hero type. There is an underwritten story of how a culture of rebellious biker chic made popular by Brando affects a whole generation of Japanese youth. The Elder Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) seems to symbolize a wiser Japan while Sato, the leader of a vicious biker gang, represents the Younger Yakuza, the New Japan, remorseless animals who would do anything to achieve power. Features the most tasteful scene of decapitation in history of cinema. Industrial rock/pop score by Hans Zimmer is very influential in Hollywood today. Underrated. I am sorry but I don't like LEGENDS at all. @CrazyDave Yea, I agree. These new FPS games like Crysis & Killzone do have a lot of gritty futuristic look which I and a lot of us here love. Ridley may not be interested in associating himself with video games but I think somebody else as talented visually would.

Not my fav. movie, but I do need to mention Matchstick Men. I did like this movie a lot and found it fun. Sam Rockwell is great in just about everything he does and he shines in this film. Even though it wasn't a very real ending I'm glad he ended it the way he did.

Blackhawk Down and Bladerunner....too hard to choose one as they are vastly different. Though I am a female, military films and sci-fi are my favorites. not much of a chick flick gal here!
