I have read that during The Great War, Lawrence did some of his operations in the Petra region. If Petra is standing in for itself in Prometheus, is it coincidence that Weyland has an interest in Lawrence? I'm rambling a bit, but I trust you get the gist of my idea. Fun to speculate that they might be tying T.E. Lawrence, Petra, and Weyland all together somehow.

That was in David Lean's script, and not a quote attributed to the real T.E. Lawrence. Artistic license, and a nod to arguably the greatest of epic film Directors.
