MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 1:59 AMLooks like Ridley, at least to me, has gone back to that well again. The costumes[the space suits look like an updated version], the women [tell me you can the female leads image is not being influenced by the female leads in this film], crew turning against itself...it goes on. Where Alien eventually turns into "It the Terror from beyond outerspace" I think Prometheus may end up being even more influenced by Plant of the Vampires.
Anyone else notice this? It's pretty incredible the impact this drive-in classic had on Ridley Scott.

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 10:19 AMYeah, the more I watch this [I haven't seen it before] the more I see this as influencing Prometheus quite a bit.
It's also a pretty solid drive-in flick.

MemberTrilobiteMar-14-2012 11:47 AMYou know I have never, to my recollection seen either Planet of the Vampires or It, the Terror from Beyond Space. But, after looking up the details of the synopsis' for each it reminds me of War of the Worlds. Not story wise, adaptation wise. I'll explain...
War of the Worlds
1953 version, first half + 2005 version, second half = almost the book
Alien
Planet of the Vampires, first half + IT the Terror from Beyond Space, second half = Alien

MemberOvomorphMar-14-2012 12:52 PMYep, I completely agree.
Both "It..." and "Planet of the Vampires" are up on youtube. I think both are even public domain by now. Worth view at least.
