MemberOvomorphMar-15-2012 10:55 PMIve seen the idea that there is a "[i]higher being[/i]" at work in Prometheus that we havent yet seen come up a lot lately. I find it interesting to think that the SJ's might not be the initial creators of Humans and the Xenos. Perhaps they are in servitude to a completely new alien race that is the true creators of life. Maybe they created the SJ's to spread life to worlds while they sit back and reaped the resources brought to them from the SJ's harvesting planets.

Or perhaps the SJ's dont hate the humans at all maybe they borderline worship them. Theyve created us to be the perfect host to the beings they trully worship.The Xenos by chance, Whom are an ancient Alien species and predate the jocks?

I was thinking what if the SJ's are infact being controlled by the Xeno's. Maybe the Xenos arent the creators of life but they travel with different hosts, who wake them from hybernation i.e. Kane in Alien and they spread themselves from place to place to ensure survival of the spieces. They've infected the SJ's and whiped them out by the time the Prometheus crew arrives. At this time there isnt much left but the weapons they created to destroy the Xeno's in a revolution of sorts. However, these weapons are never activated until the Promethues crew accidently unleashes it on themselves and the Progenitor for the Xeno we know from the '79 Alien.

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 12:25 AMWell I'll have to say that's an interesting twist compared to your standard forum assumption....I like it. The only thing that throws me off a little is that it seems the xeno is run more by instinct than intelligence. Yet, I guess the SJ's could be warshiping them for completely different reasons..

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 12:36 AMi was thinking maybe its that same drive to survive and the instints to live that might intrest the SJ's. Or perhaps theyre more intelligent than assumed but more of a raw primal intelligance closely linked with the survival instint.

The creature that births the eggs is not human, but isn't a classic xeno either. Is she a queen? Then the creatures helping out is kind of odd, they are not human or xeno either. Then of course the birth, but yet it's not really a chest burster... I love Giger...
Was that image intended to be used in Alien? Or is it an after thought from Giger...

I don't know if there is an obvious answer here, but we are sure to find out soon enought!

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 3:50 AM@Nrlfetmefan - I believe that picture was created while Giger was working on the concept art for Alien- I know that some of his earlier chest-burster concepts had legs. It appears in the book H.R. Giger's Alien. I have a feeling that the life-cycle painting was intended more to creatively conceptualize the alien life-cycle than as an image that would appear in the movie, but I don't know for sure.

I like this idea. I've thought about this myself but I based the idea on the overseers from Arthur C Clarke's book Childhood's End. In this the alien race that show up on Earth are seen as far, far advanced of Man in all ways. But it transpires that they are merely 'servants' to an even higher power, which they have no control over or even much understanding off.
It's a great book & definitely worth a read ........ except I've just given the plot away to everyone!! Whoops! Read it anyway, it's a great book. Written way back in the 50's I think, which makes it even more fascinating seeing as many of the ideas & technologies in the book have now come to pass. Arthur C Clarke was a true visionary.

I was given "the book of alien" probably near or over 30 years ago. I havnt looked at it in decades, but I'm pretty sure that both images were in the book. Concept are does not constitute canon, but I would like it if they used those ideas for the film. I have a feeling they did not, but what the heck do I know?...if I could just watch the movie...

MemberOvomorphMar-16-2012 11:21 AMThe SJ basically looks like a humanoid with a facehugger permanently stuck to its face. Perhaps the facehugger-SJ is a symbiotic coupled bi-species. Yin-yang.
If you separate them ie all eggs, no SJs, you get xenomorphs as a kind of unpleasant side-product.

They enslave or perhaps mind control the engineers to seed life for themselves to use as hosts for their own life cycles. The SJs are perhaps the race used before humans as a perminant host species.

Although this an older post the idea that the xenos are using the Engineers is a curious one. and now I wonder if there are elements of truth to this statement..
Certainly the Deacon used the Engineer to be born. Was this by accident or design?
It always seemed a bit strange that not only did the Last Engineer survive the crash but immediately when after Shaw.
She could not have been much of a threat to him. In the Orrery the Engineer just let Shaw walk out of the Juggernaut hanger whilke he started up the spaceship.
And now after crashing he is hell bent on destroying her? Something does not add up.
The Last Engineer being directed to track her down could have some merit.
David is the only known crew survivior but not even I believe that he could direct the Engineer to destroy Shaw.

There are more than likely four groups:
Engineers (who we haven't met yet or if we have, we didn't recognise them).
Xenos. It's a possibility the xenos are the Engineers, after all, the goo probably originated from them (see Kane's egg in [i]Alien[/i] - sweating, movement on the skin, black liquid on the floor - same as the canisters). The green shape in the temple is a fossilised egg. But they are probably a separate species.
Space Jockeys. They have human dna then they're human. Human dna can only be found on one planet in the universe - Earth. Humans were probably abducted in the early days of man and became the SJs - slaves probably. They're probably not that advanced - not as advanced as us.
Humans. The Engineers didn't screw with our dna. They probably just sent someone to earth whose advanced knowledge produced rapid technological advances. Someone like Weyland.

They are also feared. When they are in then house everybody knows it. And trhe nstory centers around them What they call 'living' may not be what we call living,
So Prometheus storyline may be the creation of xenos or did the xenos create Engineers?

MemberOvomorphDec-15-2012 12:36 AM They do not worship them instead they revere them or espect them and incorporated them into they're ideal version of creation. Since they are basically ancient astronauts their religion is based on some sort of spirituality with the universe and all life. Can we all just go off of what Ridley said instead of weird speculation all because of one inconsistency. It happens in films and movies all of the time. I have no problem speculating its just that it spins way out of control. Yes they probably are an early human ancestor that gave us our "look" we have today. But the whole idea that it goes back to a creator is not a problem at all. They can't be the only ancient ones there must be more but maybe a totally unrelated species, like having a "sister culture" instead of a "mother culture".
1) The reason why he went after Shaw is that shes human and humans crashed his ship and interupted his mission. He let her go because she couldnt cause him harm its only later after Janek's sacrificed himself to save Earth.
2) The Engineers are NOT in servitude to anyone they are the Xeno creators not their slaves. Although I do like where you were going with it its just that it might not be that way.
3) I agree with the whole raw power and its instincts that maybe they find them a little to fascinating. But the SJ's have the power of intellect so they made these horrible things as a type of clean-up/destruction, so they can start over.

Can there ever be a Creator? Maybe Shaw'a question of who created who the will be forever asked and not answered.
I sort of l;ike the line of theinking that we are all each creators of our own world rhat we experience.
Saying that I still think the Engineers will kick my butt!
