MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:17 AMI am starting this thread to discuss what I consider the main antagonist/bad guy of the film... the strange Alien DNA, biomechanical mutations that many crewmen go through during the movie.
Based on the trailers and teasers released so far, I believe the first infected are Holloway and Fifield, then Shaw and finally David. However, I believe they mutate into very different things.
Holloway mutates into something more similar to a Space Jockey/Engineer humanoid...

David is infected while handling one of the ampules and changes into something that could either be a human being or another Engineer.

Shaw is infected second hand by Holloway after she has sex with him, but instead of mutating, she becomes pregnant with a creature similar to the original chestburster.

Fifield, on the other hand, mutates into something more similar to the original Alien creature... agressive, lethal, fast, agile, resilient... with long limbs and an elongated head.

Your thoughts ppl?

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 12:26 AMWow you got a lot out of the trailers! I was guessing that the creature that is retrieved out of Shaw takes Fifield down as a host and somehow through the familiar process we all know and love becomes the first creature to like Alien...who knows just a thought

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 3:22 AMThe big problem I have with the smurf guy being an infected crewmember is the freaky space pants we see him wearing. I find it much easier to believe that this is an existing being who came out of stasis or from somewhere else with a preexisting wardrobe than that an infected crewmember took a few days off from doing whatever rampaging mutants are supposed to do to design and sew a costume for himself.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 3:36 AMWell, needlepoint could be one of many hobbies ETs have up there
in the vastness of the cosmos, why not, lol? In space, no one can hear
you stamp-collect.
In answer to Kronnang, indeed - these could be the 'all parts' which make up
the 'sum' - the Alien.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 7:17 AMFirst of all what conclusive proof do you have that Holloway mutates into an Engineer/Space Jockey?Just because his eyes look strange in one of the trailer scenes?LOL :)))).C`mon I mean, his eyes could be one of the effects of prolonged crio-sleep during Prometheus`s trip to LV-426.If U look closer U can see small pieces of ice gathered underneath his eyesockets. This leads us to another scenario. When we see Shaw in the new trailer at 1:56 half naked, and shaking, it could certainly be due to the side effects of prolonged crio-sleep.Therefore, these two scenes I mentioned previously are connected with the first act of the movie.
Second, again we don`t have any proof that the android David is infected.Maybe he takes the samples to the medical bay on Prometheus to study them if we are to believe the fact that Ridley Scott follows the same pattern of scientific duties performed by androids. Moreover, David cannot possibly be infected because he is an Android...remember?
I have to agree with the fact that what we see in the third picture is a chestburster(or some sort of ancestor) and that what we see in the last picture is an infected crew-member.
Last but not least I have to remind you that Ridley Scott mentioned during Comicon 2011 that one of the main sources of inspiration for Prometheus, was Erik von Danicken`s book entitled Charriots of Gods, in which it is claimed that life on Earth is of alien origins, being brought by superior beings called paleo-astronauts...so why on Earth(so to speak :))))) are we still calling these guys Space-Jockeys?Just a thought.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 8:38 AMI think there is a very good reason for the figure standing over Shaw not being clearly visible above the waist. I think it's the mutated version of Halloway. Other clips in the trailer that appear to be in the same sequence show Shaw with an axe, apparently negotiating her next move against something or someone.
I still see no evidence to point towards David being anything more than an android. That fan-made script started all of that, and I see nothing more than it combined with the common use of the term "biomechanic"- which is a description of the look of the Zeno "culture". David does not have to be part of the genetic soup for that look to exist.

MemberOvomorphMar-23-2012 8:47 AM@takka_takka_takka: Mutated Holloway's legs aren't covered with some alien suit. The patterns in his limbs are part of the biomechanical mutation. He is naked!!!

the coming
MemberOvomorphMar-30-2012 5:55 PMI'm sorry but the Fifield mutation looks rubbish..honestly is that it? slightly bruised around the face with minor swelling?
lets hope that is stage 1
