Theres a book that talks about the " ancient astronauts ", written by Howard Phillips Lovecraft, that talks about summerian and egiptian gods.Published a book in the 1928.
I wonder if there is some connection with the new born squid baby of shaw and this scifi book.
For that just type Cthulhu in google. I dont know how to put imagens in here. sorry
www.google/Cthulhu and search for images.
please tell me what you think about this.

Cthulhu is no dragon. He's far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far more than anything one can imagine.
And no, it's not Cthulhu.

that is defs not the alien in prometheus. if you look at the alien closley youll see that the tentacles are comming out from behind the aliens head. not out of his mouth.

Have you seen LOST and the plethora of cultural references both popular and ancient. In the later episodes the show feature Egyptian relic, science experiments conducted by a cult, Smoke Monster that can be summoned to attack intruders, sonic weaponry, time travel, ancient temples guarded by weary men, underwater passageways, and a rocky hideout where a guy named Jacob weaves the fates of humankind...literally. That Lindelof guy is like the scifi geek version of Quentin Tarantino

Actually...
"Giger's Necronomicon is named for H. P. Lovecraft's Necronomicon, a fictional grimoire Lovecraft invented and used as a plot device in his stories. Lovecraft's Necronomicon was a compendium of pre-human lore compiled by the fictional mad poet Abdul Alhazred, circa 700."

But no, I think this is not Ridley Scott´s drive here.

Been a huge fan of HPL since childhood and I can't recommend his books highly enough. As centrosphere mentioned, Giger was heavily influenced by HPL and the whole Alien mythos intentionally puts off an "Old Ones" vibe. That having been said, the references are oblique, not direct.
Oh, and The Whisperer in Darkness movie was incredible!

One thing I hope is that the adult "whatever" creature does not have tentacles. I REALLY hope the tentacle on the baby and the single one that slaps the window in front of Shaw is actually a tail.
On a monster, tentacles are about as scary as a top hat.

Maybe animals aboard the spaceship get mutated with humans to form hybrid creatures.

Well, the birth of Cthulhu would be a spectacle to behold! Congratulations, mrs. Cthulhu, it's a boy! (I think)

WHAT IF......when they see the mural on the ceiling and it morphs and changes and we see the xeno, MAYBE...JUST MAYBE, that is what the S/J's are trying to genetically get to, but they lack the human genome/host to finish their work, and thats why all the archeaoligical digs show the samr thing, and humans finally have the capability to get to where the S/j's are, and then the commence cutting and pasting and splicing dna to try to create the xeno, and thats why there are so many different mutagens of different prometheus crew members!
AND I know what you are going to say...why dont the S/J's just go to earth. ---i don't know. just speculating here.

Ridley did a lot of research on underwater life and environments when this was still the untitled alien prequel, can't find a link right now. This makes a lot of sense that we are seeing a weird squid creature with tentacles. I know some underwater archaeologists were initially consulted for the film way back, but things could have changed a lot since then.
