MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 6:10 PMHeard it was stated that the planet in Prometheus is not LV426. I like this idea. Prometheus can give us grand new scares without (completely) dissolving the mystery of Alien. Dunno, just my opinion. Anyone know if this is true or not? Thanx guys.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 6:22 PMYup it will be interesting to hear the opinion of snork ( our "canon" guy ) and of Biomechanic on that ( and surely sparty if hes still around ) . To me there are no sufficient elements to rule out both hypotesis.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 6:49 PMnot to be extremely one sided, but it is 100% lv426 or at least the crash scene is (there are more then one moon orbiting the ringed planet. and the ship might be on another then the crash is on lv426) because in the trailers you can clearly see the ringed planet and on the corporate timeline they say that they find a new ringed planet with several moons. that says it all guys no question lol :D

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 6:52 PMIs that seperate from them finding LV426 in the timeline?

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 6:53 PMthey never say they find lv426, it just says they find a ringed planet with several moons......... so i am guessing thats it lol

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 7:34 PMLV-426 is an airless, unremarkable planetoid. There's no real reason to set up shop there. Come to this of it, that makes two problems with the Aliens plot: why would the humans colonize LV-426 to begin with and how could they miss the wreckage of the derelict which was easily observable from space.
The Aliens plot problems would be further exacerbated if they not only didn't notice the derelict, but they also didn't notice the Prometheus and the temple. Did they hire Stevie Womder to do their geologic survey?
I hope that the ship is not the derelict from Alien and that the planet is not LV426.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 7:41 PMI agree, but i don't think the derelict was very visible. The nostromo crew could barely see where they were going. As for scans, the hull might not show up due to composition.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 7:46 PMI think it is LV-426 that we are seeing and events turn bad not only for the crew of Prometheus but the planet as well

I also hope that that the planet and ship featured in PROMETHEUS are not the pre-derelict ship and LV-426/Acheron. Exteriors and interiors do not match up...not without massive leaps in cinematic logic and convenient Lucas-esque story telling..."From a certain point of view."

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 8:04 PMAgreed Marcus. I reckon that all of the waterfall shots, the King etc etc may be LV426 in earlier days and perhaps the SJ's for some reason Terraform it into a wasteland either some unknown reason or accidentally.....

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 8:13 PMEver since the first teaser, I've been betting this world isn't where the Nostromo lands, and the ship we see in Prometheus is not the derelict from "Alien." After seeing the "full length" trailer, I'm more convinced than ever........

Since early on in the production, it was said that the filmmakers were going to be shooting some exteriors in Iceland, to depict Earth in an ancient...primordial age. my guess is that is here the waterfall local comes onto the scene. Especially with the flying saucer looking object hanging over it. Could be depicting a prehistoric extra-terrestrial visitation. Maybe...

P.S. I dig your Tolkienian handle.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 9:20 PMIn the clip where they rush back to the ship, there is a heavy sandstorm approaching. Maybe that is the beginning of the transformation to the planet we know from Alien.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 10:08 PMThe corporate timeline on the Weyland sites mentions.
Weyland astronomers discover multiple moons and a ringed planet just outside the Zeta 2 Reticula System, which are possibly able to support life. Weyland expects to travel there within the century.

So I am thinking it is Archeron they travel to. Maybe the planet faces a cataclysm at the end of the movie. We will find out in 77 days. Or sooner if another trailer spills the beans. I think the last 2 trailers pretty much told me most of the plot.

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 10:56 PMIt is in no way LV426.
Why?
The man making the effin film has stated quite categoically that Prometheus is NOT the prequel to Alien.
If it was LV426, and you are seeing the 'derelict', THEN IT WOULD BE THE PREQUEL!

MemberOvomorphMar-22-2012 11:55 PMIn the movie Aliens when Ripley is being raked over the coals, they tell her that LV426 has no indigenous lifeforms. My theory is that at some point a Space Jockey was either carrying a load of eggs and somehow got infected and crashed there or perhaps he landed there and discovered the eggs in a cave under where he landed and got infected.
It had been 50 something years since Ripley had been there and 20 years from the point when colonist arrived, yet it isn't till Ripley tells her story that someone discovers the ship and eggs.
If this is the same planet, seems kind of strange no one knows about it......or do they? The Prometheus went there? Someone sent the Nostromo there? But no follow up after the Nostromo was not heard of after that event? Very strange indeed!

MemberOvomorphMar-25-2012 3:48 PMNeurion all true and thanx for the JRRT recog- Love him even more than the Alien universe (if thats possible).
I had a thought last last... We see a SJ ship crash in the trailer. But I doubt this is the derelict as if is then The Company would know exactly where it is on LV426 as it is witnessed.... So why would they have needed to send Dalas and Crew out of their way, so much later in time to find it again. Doesnt make sense. AAARRRR Im losing it, cant wait for the release!
And for those Tolkieniens.... Heca ulundo!
