I don't know. Little unclear what the theory is to me. Looks like a guitar, just kidding! Could you explain more?

Looked like 5 or so temples in the landing shot. Maybe a chain like this?
I may work for the company, but im really an OK guy.

@genjitsu17
I called the horn-looking spaceship "spinner" because I read somewhere that it spins as it moves. May be wrong on this one tough, thought it was a sort of accepted notion..
March 24, 2012
no i think was just a speculation ....in the scene with the prometheus chasing the "derelict" it doesnt spin at all
March 24, 2012
Never heard or thought that was the case. Pretty sure it doesn't spin. It's shaped like an elongated U. Would look stupid. Can't say for sure since I never got my degree in alien tech. I think people are confusing others with this kinda speculation. Not you, add 4 more temples to that chain and I think you got it.

You're pretty sure it doesn't spin....

Someone that claimed to be close to the production said that the ship spins quite awhile back. But I've seen no evidence at all that it does, so someone was telling fibs.

"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."

@Cypher
-" But I've seen no evidence at all that it does, so someone was telling fibs."
So because You have not seen any instance of that spacecraft spinning, it Must not be true?

Form follows function @Macs............Nothing about The 'Space Croissant', as Ridley has called it, suggests that kind of arial flight. It is not circular or elliptical enough to fascillitate that kind of flight and there's no real evidence but a few seconds in the trailers that show NO spinning motion and besides....given the collision of the the two craft, were the 'Space Croissant' spinning, it would not fall away from the impact so directly or in such a blunt, wooden fashion. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Were it spinning the result of the impact would have been far more turbulant and random than the simplistic falling away result shown in the trailers.

@ craig. Agreed, it's not the right shape to facilitate spinning. So.........what's with the multiple temples? Built for different races? Warehouses? Jockie gated community?

-"Form follows function"
Not necessarily. Many cases to point out, like "tail fins" on 50's cars for example.
-"Nothing about The 'Space Croissant', as Ridley has called it, suggests that kind of arial flight. It is not circular or elliptical enough to fascillitate that kind of flight"
It (the ship) definitely does not seem to be too worried about aerodynamic concerns, and it also does not appear to be too concerned about gravity either...
-"and there's no real evidence but a few seconds in the trailers"
Exactly.
-"given the collision of the the two craft, were the 'Space Croissant' spinning, it would not fall away from the impact so directly or in such a blunt, wooden fashion"
Generally speaking there are two basic types of collisions: Elastic and inelastic. It would seem that two "croissant" ships would be involved in perfectly elastic collisions, two Prometheus ships would be involved in perfectly inelastic collisions and one of each would be inelastic but the croissant would not be deformed (as seen in the previews). I doubt it would matter whether the ship spins or not in this regard.
-"For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Were it spinning the result of the impact would have been far more turbulant and random than the simplistic falling away result shown in the trailers."
All we see is a close up of the collision and the aftermath after, that is all. Not much information yet to rule out any way of flying, me thinks.

@Macs the trailer shows about a second's worth of time, maybe just over and it clearly shows that ship climbing in altitude in a linear fashion....IT IS NOT SPINNING.
March 25, 2012
@craigamore
-"the trailer shows about a second's worth of time"
That is not a lot of time. It could spin and pause, or some sort of motion like that too. But your reply is way better than the "I categorically feel this is the case..." type.
March 25, 2012
Thanks man....I try to support what I have to say, rather be the I know everything just because I know it type. It's good to have such varying and interestingly different opinions here.

@Macs, it just does not at all anytime we have seen it in either a) the teaser trailer or b) the full length trailer to be spinning at all. So I'm going off the visual evidence I have. And from it's design anyway, I wouldn't imagine it spins. If it does, I'd love to see how.
Also the person that claimed it spins said it did so along it's axis extremely fast, so a second and a bits worth of trailer should be able to show such a rapid motion.
