Yeah, I don't get why everyone is freaking out about the black blood in the trailers. It's the same thing they did with Kill Bill. They only do it with the trailers so they can advertise to a larger audience. The movie will have red blood and as much gore as Ridley Scott would want.

Ya I'm hoping at this point in RS's career that he has enough influence on movie producers to be able to release his own unadultered version of the film, and not release a version suitable solely for mass audiences

When blood gets hit by air, and out of the body it turns black...so, yeah, everyone is worried over nothing...not even rated as well but people will cry the sky is falling...

Ppl are concerned because it is shown differently in the "Full trailer" and the "International Trailer"
One is shown black and the other is shown as red blood

Who knows why there's a difference....If you pay attention.....The light green/semi-transparent gelatinous thing David pulls out of the ampule in the teaser trailer is a very dark, almost black/no longer transparent gelatinous thing in the full length trailer.

Full length trailer gelatinous thing
The point is, there are multiple examples of things that are "changing".

I believe as part of his deal with Fox, Scott may very well have a PG-13 version playing alongside the R version in multitheater complexes...it's a win-win for everyone and Scott is nothing if not a shrewd businessman himself and history shows that. All this public noise about possibly being limited artiscally and having to accept a PG rating for theatrical release....nonsense. All the noise simply helps promote the film.
This is Ridley Scott, not merely a great director but the most premminent living director in the world...this guy gets what he wants on the set and out of the film industry...nobody says no to him and everybody wants to work with him and invest in his films...Ridley is THE MAN.

They already refused to give him as much money as he wanted for 'Prometheus'...why wouldn't they have the balls to say it's a PG-13?

Even the crashing ship from the teaser trailer looks more detailed in the international trailer........

"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."

I believe I read it somewhere that Ridley is shooting a PG-13 and a R version in parallel. I concur with Dutch's conclusions completely.
The studio is afraid of losing much of the AvP extra audience if the movie received solely its natural R rating. To have a PG-13 version may seem the worst idea since some resident Hollywood executive genius began turning fine video games into extremely bad PG-13 movies - AvP, of course. And yet, as Dutch noted, this way keeps everybody happy, so why not? And it may actually be better to have a PG-13 version by Scott himself, because if only a R version existed, the studios would butcher the movie themselves for TV viewing (they did this to Pulp Fiction, and the result was painful to watch).

International trailers have red blood because they have completely different ratings systems. It's not a re-shoot for PG-13, it's just post processed to make the trailers viewable on American tv and before PG-13 movies. This is evident in the trailers for Kill Bill (I bet if you compare USA with international trailers you'll see the same thing).
They can also use different images or even leave things out of scenes completely in the trailer. The perfect example of this is Cloverfield. In those trailers they blurred out the giant monster and left out the little crab monsters alltogether.

black blood...is this what the human race has been reduced to? I miss the gritty 80s and 90s when directors did what they want without trying to satisfy the whole idiot human mass...and let's face it...most people are idiots...transformers made like a billion...these guys are running the show now I'm afraid
I only hope the bluray will contain an 'unrated' version...but I even doubt that..you will be watching this movie with 8 and 9 year olds I am afraid...now compare that image to the original Alien movie..makes me sick
