purplest33lMarch 26, 2012The from "beyond the skies" quote is indicative of Weyland's influences during his upbringing having on parents with a PhD Comparitive Mythology.
All the metaphors used on the site are simply reflections of Weylands choice of words. Imitation is the best form of flattery.
Think of the ship Prometheus as testament to his hubris (or even greater human hubris) thinking it can drop onto planet Zeus and steal the Fire of life.
I do not really think the film will use solely such a superficial reading of a creation myth to tell its story, but we certainly can count on a very intricate layering of the interpretation of the tale of Prometheus.
I tend to think that we will see a movie with various layers in its meaning, each phase / part of the movie shedding these layers like a skin until we get at its guts, its essence. Look for a early-summer special effects flick with the spaceship Prometheus looking to land on Zeus to steal the Fire from Gods only for the same movie to turn into a deeply profound and engaging masterpiece mid-movie ending with us cinima-goers completely shocked and asking ourselves the existential questions I believe Ridley Scotts wants his work to evoke.
