MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 12:12 PMI've been thinking about the line at the beginning of the trailer about a king dying. I'm thinking that Weyland might be a possible candidate for our hybrid in the trailers. I'm going to go out on a limb and say he might have infected himself willingly. The king doesn't want his reign to end and possibly sees whatever they found as a fountain of youth.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 12:17 PMIt is possible, of course, my view is that the "King" is humans vs. Syths...

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 1:42 PMmidnight- check this thread I started last week for further evidence to back up this idea.
I haven't the faintest on how to explain it all but my hunch is that's weyland w/ the black going through his veins and the waterfall in the bg. I think it's at the end of the movie, (not the "beginning of time") and i think it's punishment from the SpaceJockeys on weyland for attempting to steal "fire from the gods".. hence the Prometheus reference and retelling of the Laurence of Arabia match story.
There's definitely some holes there with my theory which I suspect will be patched up with m-theory (time/space travel, ripples in the space-time continuum/parallel universes) This is also why Prometheus isn't necessarily a prequel or in canon w/ the Alien franchise - that stuff all happens in an alternate ripple.
That's my story and I'm stickin to it!

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 1:47 PMMy guess is that the "king" is a possible analogy to describe multiple stories in the film.
In my mind, "king" is probably a reference to a dead/dying Weyland, and possibly to the Jockey(s) themselves.
I wonder if the Jockeys that the Prometheus crew find might already be long dead, and that whatever alien menace they find themselves confronted with is the fatal result of the dead Jockeys own attempt at achieving immortality.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 1:52 PMI think Weylend is there with them and if you check out tv spot #3 at :14 sec
the person or persons(Holloway n Shaw,as alluded to in trailer) that Vickers
is talking to "if you go down there you are going to die" is really Weyland. He
would be the only one the SUIT only cares for. The lighting in the scene with Holloway/Shaw is different than Vickers scene. So the only reason Weyland is there
could be that there is something to gain for himself, e.g. technology, fountain of youth.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 2:06 PMJust to add up, remember when Ridley and Damon said that if they said anymore about Weyland they would be giving away too much of the plot. So definitely he must be in the journey in some form at least.
Another thiong that nobody has recognized is who is the young girl laying over an examination table, shown at the IMAX trailer.

That's from the timeline of Weyland industries. This might not be Weylands first encounter with what they find. There is a scene where the old man is meeting with David and one other just before Shaw stumbles in. If it is Weyland he will definitely be withholding information from the rest of the crew.

MemberOvomorphMar-28-2012 8:09 PMIt's a metaphor. Could represent a number of things.
Peter Weyland?
The Weyland Corporation?
The human race?
Any race of intelligent beings?
or any combination of the above.

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 1:01 AMI think that line about a King could refer to an ancient civilization (the guy we see by the waterfall). It looks like it refers to ancient Sumerian mythology. They had Kings "lowered from the heavens" and reigned for thousands of years.

MemberOvomorphMar-29-2012 6:13 AMThe "King" refers to any civilisation throughout Human history, Egyptians, greeks, Romans, they all reach a pinnacle rule for a time and then decline and die. On a larger scale I think its Humanity in general thats the "King". . As for the guy with the black stuff?, I reckon he may be Adam of sorts. life began in the Oceans, and theres a lot of water right there. I still believe this is the films opening, but I wont be putting any money on it.
